Each store seems to have a different policy, but I've never had problems switching parts for other parts, eg I've got tonnes of minifig heads already, so often leave that part out and get something else instead. Or just load up on a part of interest (within reason).
So tomorrow, to the park for a Picnic Table Build, look for bison and other critters, and read the book.
It is short one shield and one torso. Not sure if I will complain or not.
Called support and they issued a replacement order which is now "under review". They told me to keep everything (and shred the packlist). Eh, stuff happens. So, I wait a bit longer, doot doot.
12 pounds of System parts, 4 pounds of Technic parts, and 6 pounds of basic 2x bricks, for a total over 22 pounds, for $30.
Lots of small parts that I can use in my collection, especially brackets and modified bricks.
It seems rather silly to include that and not something more summer-related!
Also went to Ikea & picked up a couple of bookcases (the ones that are a little narrower & cheaper than the Billy) to replace some old bulky ones I currently have in a hallway & found some nice flowerpots to replant some of my cacti in.
Y'all know what a Pirates fanatic I am... but I'm pretty disappointed with TLG for not having any GWP or other promos available at VIP launch.
So, as much as it pains me to do so, I'm waiting!
I imagine they didn't think a GWP was necessary, that there would be plenty of people willing to pay RRP day one. Then they'll offer a GWP later and sell more.
I wonder if it really works like that, though. Anyone who waits might end up spending the money on something else. If that something else is still Lego, no problem for TLG. But I believe most of us have other interests that compete for our money, so it seems risky to "encourage" a lot of potential buyers to wait.
I don't recall any GWPs at the launch (pun intended!) of #10497 Galaxy Explorer. I didn't care: that set is so wonderful! I took the day off work to get it, and then took it to the county park to build. And I eventually got two more so I have all three models built.
There are so many sets releasing that I want over the next few months that I'm trying to balance my purchases to coincide with appropriate offers. That's why I went with the Sanderson Cottage Ideas set to get the Disney GWP last week and it seems I made the right choice.
Still working out what I'll get next week when they do the 2x VIP points on select themes along with the three repeat GWP's. I already have over $100 worth of PAB parts loaded as long as they don't go out of stock and hopefully a few more I'm waiting on to come back in stock so I'm already about halfway to the $220 threshold for the next round of repeat GWP Blacktron & Bionicle & VIP Pack. Just need to remember to add my VIP code for the Rocket Ride that I forgot on my last order.
I'll probably hold out on the Fortress until the end of the month to get the new 12 in 1 GWP that's coming, hopefully the Fortress will still be in stock or at least available to backorder. If not there's still other stuff on my wishlist to get that GWP and I'll just wait a bit longer for the Fortress.
I pre-ordered Galaxy Explorer during the GWP promo for the Hideout so at least that worked out. But then Walmart was selling it for $75 and then $50. I did snag a second Explorer when they had it for $50.
The only monkey wrench in my current plan is no knowing what sets Costco will be getting in for the Holidays at nicely discounted prices. I'm sure a few things I want will end up showing up there after I go & buy them from Lego for GWP offers. So I try to hold off on any City, Friends, Creator & non-exclusive Harry Potter until I see what they get in.
I really wish the transparent BeatBox covers were easier to integrate with bricks. I think I'll use them to make greenhouses to grow carrots for #80032 Chang'e Moon Cake Factory. I have a number of bunnies and carrots from BAM and PAB.
I hope your waiting period won't be long, as it can be hard to resist!
