The vendor had a ton of Fabuland sets... believe me, it was very hard to pass on so many of them!

I just ordered #80046 Monkie Kid's Cloud Airship and will get the Summer Fun VIP add-on pack. Double VIP points starts Friday, but I don't want to risk missing the add-on.

The nice thing about these unicorn heads is you can't put a hat/helmet/hair piece on them... so you can give each two accessories!
I suppose the store could say "you've got a head, you need a hat/helmet/hair piece..."

Each store seems to have a different policy, but I've never had problems switching parts for other parts, eg I've got tonnes of minifig heads already, so often leave that part out and get something else instead. Or just load up on a part of interest (within reason).

Every store I've been in allowed me to use 15 pieces, doesn't have to be full figures. Certainly helps since I usually don't want full figures, but random collections of pieces.

Well, no sign of Ninjago parts, but I still got some good parts. Then stopped at Barnes & Noble- issue 80 of BrickJournal magazine, and "Monkey King Journey to the West".
So tomorrow, to the park for a Picnic Table Build, look for bison and other critters, and read the book.

Got my Rivendell this morning Almost didn’t with the lackluster gwp’s, but excited nonetheless. Can’t believe I spent $500 on a Lego set! 😅

Well, I went against my reason and got the Ninjago City Markets and the Land Rover...  The double VIP points and double GWP were big contributing factors.  And unlike others here, I like parts packs and don't really resell GWP anyways, so they're always welcomed and populate my city decently!

My order arrived after five weeks.

It is short one shield and one torso. Not sure if I will complain or not.

^ Definitely reach out to the seller. I would want to know if I shorted someone, especially for a high value order like this.

The other day, a recent (bestseller) PAB order arrived with the #40589 GWP.  Only, it wasn't MY parts.  And the packlist for whose parts they were had ONE 6012451.  There was a small bag of FIFTY of them >_<  So, not sure what happened there.

Called support and they issued a replacement order which is now "under review".  They told me to keep everything (and shred the packlist).  Eh, stuff happens.  So, I wait a bit longer, doot doot.

I found the two Disney CMFs I wanted at Target. They had about a hundred, I found Tiana roughly in the middle, Stitch was second-to-last.

Quick sorting revealed this is the most random collection I’ve bought in a while. No whole sets, or even whole minifigures.

12 pounds of System parts, 4 pounds of Technic parts, and 6 pounds of basic 2x bricks, for a total over 22 pounds, for $30.

Lots of small parts that I can use in my collection, especially brackets and modified bricks.

I recently received one of the #40607 Summer Fun VIP Add-On Packs as a GWP and I can't help but notice that it contains a Santa hat, which seems a little incongruous!
It seems rather silly to include that and not something more summer-related!

Some places like summer camps and some retailers have "Christmas in July" events and sales, so maybe LEGO is one of them.

Since the Up House & Celebration Train didn't add up to enough to qualify for the Disney GWP I went with the Ideas Sanderson Sisters Cottage instead since it qualified for the GWP surprisingly.  Waiting till later in the month for other stuff on my list with other rumored deals.

What I'm not buying is the new Eldorado Fortress...

Y'all know what a Pirates fanatic I am... but I'm pretty disappointed with TLG for not having any GWP or other promos available at VIP launch.
So, as much as it pains me to do so, I'm waiting!

@karrit Since you stopped at the Lego store and Ikea I assume you were at the Park Meadows store. I don't get down there much, it's about and hour away but the Mills store is only about 20 minutes.

@oldtodd33 Yes it was Park Meadows.  I'm in Loveland so not too much difference usually time wise for me to get to either one but I prefer Celeste & her crew @ Mills so usually go there when I venture down.  Time permitting I try to go to both but usually find the store rules & staff @ Meadows a bit off putting.  The staff seemed much better this time @ Meadows other than the silly rules like 5 PAB cups & no AFOL discount on PAB on AFOL day but they seem to have a high turnover of staff.  At least there weren't massive boxes blocking the PAB area like there had been the last few times I went there.  Now that I have a new dependable car I'll probably be able to trek down to either location a bit more more often weather permitting.

I imagine they didn't think a GWP was necessary, that there would be plenty of people willing to pay RRP day one. Then they'll offer a GWP later and sell more.
I wonder if it really works like that, though. Anyone who waits might end up spending the money on something else. If that something else is still Lego, no problem for TLG. But I believe most of us have other interests that compete for our money, so it seems risky to "encourage" a lot of potential buyers to wait.
I don't recall any GWPs at the launch (pun intended!) of #10497 Galaxy Explorer. I didn't care: that set is so wonderful! I took the day off work to get it, and then took it to the county park to build. And I eventually got two more so I have all three models built.

@560Heliport I agree that they don't seem to think that they need to offer a decent GWP day one to get many less experienced customers to buy.  We all know how they muffed the Hideout GWP & Castle release by offering the GWP weeks before the Castle release as far as we Fans are concerned.  But it got people to buy more because they wanted the Hideout GWP & many like me were afraid to wait the few weeks in case there weren't any Hideout GWP's left upon Castle release and we all know how that turned out.

There are so many sets releasing that I want over the next few months that I'm trying to balance my purchases to coincide with appropriate offers.  That's why I went with the Sanderson Cottage Ideas set to get the Disney GWP last week and it seems I made the right choice.
Still working out what I'll get next week when they do the 2x VIP points on select themes along with the three repeat GWP's.  I already have over $100 worth of PAB parts loaded as long as they don't go out of stock and hopefully a few more I'm waiting on to come back in stock so I'm already about halfway to the $220 threshold for the next round of repeat GWP Blacktron & Bionicle & VIP Pack.  Just need to remember to add my VIP code for the Rocket Ride that I forgot on my last order.
I'll probably hold out on the Fortress until the end of the month to get the new 12 in 1 GWP that's coming, hopefully the Fortress will still be in stock or at least available to backorder.  If not there's still other stuff on my wishlist to get that GWP and I'll just wait a bit longer for the Fortress.
I pre-ordered Galaxy Explorer during the GWP promo for the Hideout so at least that worked out.  But then Walmart was selling it for $75 and then $50.  I did snag a second Explorer when they had it for $50.
The only monkey wrench in my current plan is no knowing what sets Costco will be getting in for the Holidays at nicely discounted prices.  I'm sure a few things I want will end up showing up there after I go & buy them from Lego for GWP offers.  So I try to hold off on any City, Friends, Creator & non-exclusive Harry Potter until I see what they get in.

Yeah, I don't got to Park Meadows mostly because of the distance but that store is tiny compared to the Mills and usually pretty crowded so it's not easy to shop there. Celeste has been there for years and she's pretty nice to talk to. Turn over seems high there also but I blame that on the local economy and the general attitude of most people in the Denver area. I've mostly been ordering from home as the sales taxes are much higher at the store versus buying from home. I don't know about Loveland but my sales tax at home is 4.5% compared to almost 10% at the store. My last purchase I saved almost $20 by staying home.

@oldtodd33 I try not to think about the sales tax too much.  There are so many taxing districts & different rates for each depending if I'm shopping within city limits or outside. Loveland & Timnath base is 6.7%, Fort Collins base is 7.55%  Then Centerra district has some other added taxes or fees and some parts of Fort Collins & Timnath do also I think.  It's still less than the almost 9%, which varied mostly by county and was even higher in NY City, I was paying when I lived in NY.

Since I will not be going to Billund anytime soon, I used a Dutch second-hand selling site to buy #40504, which I really wanted but could never get myself, so for €130, new in box, it's not too bad a deal. Looking forward to building it, Pirates was my favourite theme back in the young days, so this guy will look great on the shelf here!

Picked up #43106 Unicorn DJ BeatBox for $4.99 at Scheels. I got four new-to-me BeatBits.
I really wish the transparent BeatBox covers were easier to integrate with bricks. I think I'll use them to make greenhouses to grow carrots for #80032 Chang'e Moon Cake Factory. I have a number of bunnies and carrots from BAM and PAB.

The Chang Moon Cake factory is a fantastic set. My 6 year old loves what she calls the 'Rabbot' and I used two of the factories to make an ultra mega factory.

@Bumblepants I need to figure out how many Lego rabbits I have, between the molded ones, minifigs with that headpiece, brick-built e.g. this year's Year of the Rabbit GWP and Creator White Rabbit, I could make quite a large Lunar Lagomorph Settlement! Built on crater plates, of course! Because crater plates make every Space build better!

Just picked up a train lot on shopgoodwill.com.  9V trains are getting more expensive, and since that is the system I started with 20 years ago, I'm pretty invested in it.  Plus the RC trains run on the 9V track, so not a big deal to run both.
Nice to get some track, another power pack with track connector, a motor, and 5 buffers/magnets.  Looks like this is part of set #4561 Railway Express.  Only part of one of the carriages is present with most of the power unit build.  I was surprised to find a light in there to illuminate two headlights.  Pretty cool!  That was unexpected.  Other miscellaneous parts from the set.  Don't know that there is anything special in there.  I bid on the lot for the track, motor, power pack, buffers, and wheel sets.
I had not seen these "spring" wheel sets before.  Too bad there is only one.

I'll start doing the same as well.  I tend to use all my points for day 1 purchase of the modular, but they've released, two years in a row now, GWP that were meant for that set later on.  And those taxis and moving trucks were actually amazing and really complemented the sets they were for nicely.

I hope your waiting period won't be long, as it can be hard to resist!

Ordered a bunch of PAB, about $120, I'd been holding off on, the last two HP Banners I needed, an HP Journal & 2 HP sorting boxes and got all 3 GWP's plus The Space Ride reward.  Still waiting on Eldorado since I wanted to take advantage of the 2x points on the HP stuff.  Probably will have to hassle with Rakuten to get my 15% cash back eventually.

@FollowsClosely I was tempted to do something similar when I visited the Lego store but would have preferred the simpler torso instead of the Queen one.  I went with a bunch of Skeleton Pirates, dual molded legs in assorted colors and flasks, chickens & blue rabbits instead since both Knight torsos are readily available on PAB.  I always try to maximize value for my BAM purchases as long as it's parts I actually want.
