Early this morning I bought the technic cargo plane for myself and Kylo Ren's command shuttle for my 7 and 8 year olds. Other than those I'm buying more parts for a large Dutch windmill.
The cargo plane is what got me interested in technic sets. Good luck and remember, both sides of the battery pack needs batteries! ;)

I was able to pick up Santa's Workshop at the Lego store in Beachwood, OH! Also grabbed the Thanksgiving set while I was there! Sales guy said there will be limited numbers on them so I opted not to wait for double points.

Bought #75016 for $30 sealed new in great condition. Best find for me ever.

Finally had enough money so I made a reservation for Wall-E at the local Lego store. Can't wait! The salesperson did say that it would take at least a month to arrive sadly

RRP for a 2 years old set is such a good deal?

  • tick1970tick1970 Member Posts: 117
I don't think I've bought a set that isn't 30% or more discounted except for the ideas or exclusive sets

    More Ninjago. Sigh.

On the bright side, I now have all of the ninjas in their latest outfits. On the not so bright side, I now officially collect another theme.

I guess the good thing is that I'm only interested in certain waves of it. Liking the ghosts, but passing on the serpents.

I can tell you what I want to buy right now. Temple of Airjitzu first. Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty second and Temple of Light third.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
I'd buy temple of light first. It's retired and will likely not get cheaper.

I was surprisingly well behaved this weekend at STEAM, just my advent calendar and a couple of the new Mixels. Mainly bought for parts - #41546 Forx having dark grey banana parts in such a low cost set was too good to pass up!
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
@Shib, nice, I'm not sure what I could use those for, but I'll have to keep that in mind if I do find a use.

@VorpalRyu - I also have no immediate plans for them, but having been quite taken with the use of the white croissant parts for horns on the Master Wu's Dragon set any part like that is getting my attention now these days.
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
^ Ah... A point you have there, I think I may just have to procure a few dbgrey bananas & mayhaps a few white croissants too...

  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
I've also got in mind for those banana parts that they could be really useful for some micro-scale spaceships.

If I close my browser window that has Amazon open to the Cargo Train #60052 page and pretend it's not on sale and I don't want to finally get my first train, will the thought leave my brain and keep my credit card in my wallet?

Ordered Wall-E and the Darth Vader constraction figure the other day. Went into my local LEGO store to get the Series 14 minifigs but they were sold out, so I went ahead and got the Temple of Airjitzu.

Hopefully managed to procure a set of tyres for a certain build so I don't have to leave #76023 on wheel jacks.

For some folks, that's a prime spot to find second-hand Lego.  @Pitfall69.

^ Yes, a prime spot for old Lego, dodgy bananas & other disturbing items (while I was working as plumber on new houses under construction, some of things people would throw in the site miniskip, were very disturbing)...

Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle. Need those Minifigs and it has a surprising number of parts needed in recreating the Falcon UCS!

^how are you working out that overlap stat then?  I am in the slow process of collecting the required parts for my own slightly off color falcon.  I can see some of the parts I need but dropping £100 (although I would obviously wait for a lower cost) would have to be at least a few hundred required parts. Hmm...

    overlap stat?
  • MattsWhatMattsWhat Member Posts: 1,643
You said it has a surprising number of parts needed, I wondered if you had a clever way of knowing, or you just did it by eye.  Thats all.  If you don't have a collection on rebrickable you can add one set then see your % overlap with any other set by viewing it (but if you already have a collection this doesn't work).
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
@MattsWhat, you can have more than one collection & when looking at what you can build use the new collection...

^Awesome. It hadn't occurred to me to do that. What a numpty.
  • wayneggwaynegg Member Posts: 394
Oh. No, I actually looked at the parts listing for both here in the data base and realized it was the best bang for my buck. I was leaning the new falcon until I compared pieces.
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
Yep, #75104 is a really interesting set. I recently bought it from a department store here in NL that had all their Lego sets on special offer with a 20% discount. So I bought Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle for €104. Which is still a lot but at that price I felt it was no longer overpriced.
I am not looking to collect parts to build another set with like @waynegg for his MF UCS project, but that shuttle with its big wings is really imposing. I feel the set is not without flaws, not only in terms of movie accuracy with the wings not being able to fold out to a 'V' shape, but also with regard to other aspects such as the cramped interior, all the exposed studs on the wings and bare underside plates. Still I think it is a great set that I will take apart and modify, and will gradually MOC the hell out of. As soon as I finished building it last night I  immediately started to alter bits and pieces on the inside, figuring out how best to seat all six minifigs inside. The set has 1005 elements according to brickset, and it contains a great assortment of pieces.
There is something alluring about this ship that wants you to grab it and tinker with it until it stops resembling what it is supposed to approximate from this yet to be released film but at some point will surpass it. I am going to see if I can build and mount wings on it that look a bit like mishmash of those of a Tie-interceptor and Vader's Tie Fighter.

I bought Wall*E last night from FAO for $49.99! I bought the 3 Guardians of the Galaxy sets on Amazon for 25+% off, and i ordered the 16 Series 14 Minifigs on Ebay for not much more than RRP plus tax. All in all a good week of brick buying! I will be setting up our families Haloween display with all the monster fighters sets, this evening and adding in the Series 14 once they arrive tomorrow.

I'm looking to get the Arctic series but hoping for better discount on somebody the larger ones. I know the rescue plane one is already high on secondary market

A week or two ago I bought the #75105 Millennium Falcon on a whim. After I placed the order I had slight buyers remorse because I had #7965 Falcon. But as soon as I got it and built it I realized that the 75105 has many different improvements and is a definite buy even if you have the 2011 version. Many of these improvements are subtle like decreasing the incline of the hull plates but between that and the great interior details(like the game board) they all add up to something great. Not to mention the new bowcaster stud shooter is a ton of fun

I'm a sucker for Double VIP, Freebie Promos, and Holiday sets:

    #10249 Winter Toy Shop
    #40123 Thanksgiving Feast (x2)

That allowed me to nab the Christmas Train. Now I just need to wait for the gingerbread house.

The free holiday train and double VIP got me as well.
Finally, I got my long awaited
    10243 Parisian Restaurant.
And thanksgiving feast because, well, it's $10.

The parisian restaurant says November 20 ship date...said October 9 right before I ordered. Oh well, I can be patient.
