Placed three orders once their Site started functioning properly...
Modular Police Station #10278 + GWP
Sring Lantern Festival #80107 + GWP (backorded 60 days, now showing 20 Jan)
Flower Bouquet #10280, Bonsai Tree #10281, Yellow Taxi #40468, Tuk Tuk #40469, Tractor #60287 + GWP

An expensive month considering Ninjago Gardens #71741 is still to come...
(But will then have nearly enough VIP points to cover the cost of the Roman Collosseum #10276 - for a later date).

    Happy New Year all!

I placed an order at midnight: #10278 Police Station, #75299 Trouble on Tatooine and a series 21 CMF. Cashed in my VIP keyring code so got that free plus the vintage car, and used my points to halve the price. A good start to 2021!

Yeah, I went a bit crazy today! Loving the new releases today so placed 3 orders last night then another order this morning since I lovevthe look of the botanical sets:

    1) Police modular
    2) 2x Chinese New year lantern, Nian, and Panda brickheadz
    3) Bonsai and bouquet
    4) Bonsai, bouquet and new Mandalorian set.

Now to wait for their arrival!

I really want the book of monsters GWP but have all the Harry potter sets, and the new books are interesting but expensive in Switzerland. Buying 2 doesn't get the promo so I would have to get 3 of them or a small extra...will have a think about it but I really want the Ninjago Gardens set as well soon so need the money!

Hogwarts Astronomy Tower, Panda Brickheadz, GWP, GWP, voucher code for metal VIP brick keychain. Order placed around 8:00am EST in the US.

I wasn't going to order them anyway, but all of the Hogwarts Moments books were already on backorder. Police Station was still available now.

Ordered #10281 Bonsai Tree, #76383 Hogwarts Potion Class and #10278 Police Station which gets me the GWP #40448 Vintage Car ... now to try being patient until they arrive and hoping none fall into the out of stock label!

surprisingly enough I was able to snag the police station, trouble on tatooine, and tournament of elements (which is on back order for the 21st) around 10 est, pleasant surprise that they hadn't all sold out by the time I woke up.

After ordering #10278 Police Station etc around 1am EST I went back and ordered #10280 Flower Bouquet, #40172 Calendar, #40379 Valentine Bear BrickHeadz, and #60283 Holiday Camper Van which will get me another $40448 Vintage Car! Ordered about 12 hours after the other stuff! Now to see which order comes first and if everything comes without hitting the dreaded out of stock label.

Ended up ordering the Astronomy Tower to get the 2 GWP's since the books were out of stock.  Put an order in with Target for the 4 HP books to go pick up at the store using the gift cards I saved from the pre-Christmas purchases to lower the cost in addition to the 5% Red Card discount.  Just waiting on notification to go pick them up.

Well, I wasn't paying attention at all and missed the Bonsai tree. That and a Panda BHz, plus some other odd or end, would have net me the GWP. Sheesh. Ended up picking up the Bonsai at Target.com. Lots of stock if anyone wants one. Bonus was some gift cards I found this past week, so it was free to me!

I'll still pick up the Pandas. Debating if I want to just get the bouquet too to reach the GWP. Decisions decisions.

It Shipped! Or so the email says ... includes #10281 Bonsai Tree and #10278 Police Station and means none of the dreaded out of stock or back order notices for this order! I just have to be patient (not my strong suit) and wait for it to get here!

My birthday haul! Got a bunch of small sets to keep costs down while maximizing my 20% birthday discount by avoiding the new City and Classic sets that'll receive 30% discounts later. Many of the sets releasing elsewhere in the world aren't available here yet for some reason, so I had to make do with some 2019/2020 sets I hadn't yet acquired. The #40448 GWP had too high a threshold for something that ultimately doesn't interest me, so I opted for the cheaper #40417 GWP instead.
The set I'm most excited for is #31111 Cyber Drone. The following picture explains why:
Annoyingly, its Singapore price is nearly double the US price ($20 locally vs $13-ish after converting the 10 USD price — I paid $100 for over 7 times the part count of #4508 back in the day), but it's no dealbreaker.
    Overall, happy with my haul!

Classic Pirates parts are expensive... In the last week I've spent nearly $150 on pieces (mostly minifigure parts) from BL. But I think that about wraps up all that I will do with my Pirates layout, any more figs in there and it'll just be too overcrowded for the size. I'll snap some new photos after I've finished fiddling around with everything.

I bought the 1989 Batmobile yesterday when it came back into stock. The main reason I'd held off so long (other than needing to save a bit for the cost) was that I knew I had absolutely nowhere to display it once built. But now that issue has been addressed, I was very happy to be able to snag it. I'll be definitely wanting the Batwing sometime this year as well.

At Barnes & Noble: #71736 Boulder Blaster; CMF series 20 Athlete- thought it was the Viking due to spear, didn't have athlete so it's OK; series 21 Ladybird, Alien, and Ancient Warrior- guessed right on those three. Also Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (the book): I'm almost finished with Order of the Phoenix, probably won't get through Half-Blood Prince this weekend, but at least I'm prepared.

I've normally had a trip to a LEGO store or my local Smyths to pickup one of the new sets as a New Year treat, but with everything locked down I've been without anything to build (apart from that huge haul for Christmas!) So as things seem to be stabilising at S@H and things are off back order I treated myself to the new City car transporter (I have a thing for City articulated lorries) it'll help with my storage problem too as I can load three SC sized cars on to it to display! Also got the new farm tractor and a white baseplate to put my Elf Club House on to. Added the promo code for the metal brick keyring as I fancied it

I promised myself not to start buying sets at start of the year no matter how awesome the GWP will be.   Broke down after 2 weeks, good thing my local Lego store still has the 2 GWPs available...

To be fair, the set itself is great, and both GWPs are both pretty sizable and pretty great on their own.  Definitely think if you were going to break, this was a good reason to do it :)

That is a cool set - also, you could check Google for alternative builds, there are dozens around. My son loves building and rebuilding all of them, currently it's a manta ray :)

Acquired a very, very dusty Helicarrier today.  Because we all need a fleet of them... maybe I can modify one into a Winter Soldier/Insight version with the design-ridiculous accessible glass ball.

In November I made a few purchases (including my wife's Christmas present to me)

How did you get your wife to agree to this? Mine insists I buy no lego for November and December so she can figure out what I want and need. I already broke the rule and doubled one of the sets this year leaving her furious.. She won't let me pick what I want as she insists she wants it to be a surprise.. She has good tastes though but all my lego purchases have to be hidden for 2 months and gets tricky at times.
Well, it was a bit awkward to start with. A couple of returned sets, another given to my son to play with. But eventually she said "Why don't you buy a set you want and then give it to me to wrap?" That year (2013) I made a big effort to not only work out what I was going to buy (Tower of Orthanc #10237 ) but made a massive deal of the LotR being one of my most favourite film series of all time (which was true - I cried for Boromir, cried seeing Minas Tirith, cried in Mordor, cried for Gollum - all of that). I then made sure my wife and I watched the series (well, I watched, she watched me watch whilst crocheting). And I noted all the things I hoped were in the set (I knew exactly what would be in the set, but she didn't need to know that).

Then on the day, when I opened my present, I just went rather overboard in how much I loved it, opened it that afternoon (Boxing Day is my goto day for Lego building) and got out all the minifigs (and eagle) so (a) I could show them to my wife and relate back to the film, and (b) play with them my son. Then the following day I built it all, pointing out all the features that were just as I had hoped.

She knew she made the right choice in letting me choose.

Now, if only I could work out what she wants, I'd be golden!

I tried that approach of I'll buy for me but was shut down fast.. I also insist there is no such thing as doubles for lego set's as I commonly buy more then 1 of sets I like so I wont complain if I get doubles or triples.. I have 4 helms deep sets and 6 of the add on's..  Someday she will understand I will be happy with whatever it is even if I already have it lol.

I have started giving my wife a copy of the holiday catalog with sets marked as ok for her to buy or not ok for her to buy (don't have to mark all themes because she will always stick to SW, HP, or Creator Expert). I always leave a few sets in the "don't buy" category that I don't have but that I anticipate will either retire or be on sale during the holidays. I focus my purchases on those and let her buy me "newer" sets that I know I can get the following year if I don't get them for Christmas. It has worked decently well so far, but it's a small sample size of 3 years now.

2019 was also a big win because she somehow got the Amazon Lightning Deal on the UCS MF, so that was a very nice surprise! It's not a set I probably would have bought for myself, especially not at full price, but I'm THRILLED to have it!
