Minifig Display Box

While I was at TRU today I saw some display boxes for minifigs. Not sure if they are something new, but it's the first time I've seen them.

The small box holds 8 minifigs, the large box holds 16 minifigs.
I think the small box was around $15 and the large was around $23.
Nice for CMF's but a tad expensive...

The boxes are made by Blip Toys.

^I gotta get some of these. They had these I believe at Toyfair earlier this year

^--- Actually I think Lego is still supposed to be making ones that are in packs of four... still these are nice.

Trying to decide if I should wait and see if and what LEGO comes up with, or buy these...? I just can't get over the $23 price tag - too much in my opinion... or is it?
  • legoDadlegoDad Member Posts: 529
^This is a TRU price so maybe if it's at Lego Store, the price might be cheaper. I think the $23.00 one would be $19.99 at a Lego Store...I'm guessing though.

Interesting, but I think it might take up too much space, but I'll have to see in person.
  • LegogeekLegogeek Member Posts: 714
These cases are a bit heavier and more bulky than the LEGO carrying cases, but they also leave more room in each minifig cubicle for accessories - so it's a bit of a draw. But, if you're collecting the CMFs these will hold an entire series, where the other won't. For me the bigger size isn't really a drawback.

I really like the black one, and it's kind of surprising since I only remember seeing pictures of the red, yellow and blue ones at toy fair.

I'm hoping it qualifies for the current buy 2 get one free, but I'm not holding my breath.

They can and have holes in the back for nails.

If they came in the various CMF series pack colour that would be ace. And great to see they attach to the wall, Lego display space is getting hard to come by! Any idea if they'll be available on amazon?

Great review, when will they be on sale in the UK, I will get one for each set I completed. Then I will hang them on my office wall :)

I picked up 5 of them a couple of days ago at my local Big W (Australia). for $19.95 each. Study, stackable and displays minifigs nicely. Just a pity the colour range doesnt match that of the collectable minifigs but that is a minor incovence.

Hmmm, hard to tell from the picture: Can the 16 figure holders be stacked up or not?
It looks like they have studs on half of the top, and looks like they have studs on the base for legs. I'd love these if I could stack 3 or 4 on top of each other securely.

Both types (8 and 16) have a full set of studs on top to be stackable. The studs on the legs are for show since they sit in a grove for more stability. I have mine stacked and is very stable.

Yep, shown at Toy Fair earlier this year. After speaking with the designer of these cases he was very interested to hear what I had to say from an AFOL perspective. I mentioned that it would be great if the cases were to come in the same colors as the minifig packs. Not sure if that will come to fruition though.

@jwsmart thanks for the review link!

@bmwlego thanks for the better pix ;oD

I'll definately get some of these if I can find them for less, or buy from TRU at a discount.

Does anyone know if the Lego Store are getting these or are they just a TRU exclusive?

And to think that for 30 years I've been storing my Minifigs, just like I do bricks... stored in a box, resembling a landfill.... :-O

(That's because I never use them... my LEGO playing habit pre-dates Minifigs by 18 years!)

So lately I've been digging them up (euphemistically speaking) and selling them in my Bricklink store... I was surprised at what I found! In retrospect I wish I didn't sell all the minifigs (with stickers attached) from my 10 Yellow Castle sets, back in the 1980s (for only $1 each!).

Anyway... somewhere in one of my untouched "landfills" I have 2 unused white Minifig hair with pigtails! (from 2 #365 Wild West sets)

Just saw these cases for real in a TRU.
They're quite heavy, and appear to be good quality.
They're expensive, $15 and $23 as stated above.
Like all the rest of the licensed products, they don't qualify for the LEGO sales.

I'll be waiting for the next 20% off any one item coupon...

^^ Love the statement "Holds 16 Minifigures and in any colour as long as it's yellow!" :)
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
Will the cases be in other colours besides Yellow and Red?
  • jwsmartjwsmart Member Posts: 298
@RJH - The answer is in the first post. Blue & Black are also available.

^ thanks for the heads up, ordered one to check it out.

I just checked Amazon.com, and both large and small are only available from one merchant at the ridiculous prices of $24.99 (small) and $36.80/$39.99 (large - depending on color) - outrageous!

Went to my local TRU yesterday, and they only had one of each. Didn't buy any however because I used my $10 coupon to get #7879

I sure hope these become more widely available, and at better prices.
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
The only issue I have is it is only in Yellow on Amazon unless I am blind, I will only buy one if I can get it in black

As nice as it is to go 'official', I think this guy adds a touch of class (or at least the wood does).

Hmmm, maybe I should check out the local craft shop (Michael's) to see what they have?
