My guess is some collectors or re-sellers are running web monitors on the [email protected] pages. I'll admit I tried it with some freeware but lately the software hasn't been working too well.

Either that or they only had a few orders that we cancelled or what not, if that was the case they can be available but if there are only 3-5 available they are going to be gone quick.

I was able order one yesterday only to have a email from [email protected] today saying the order was canceled

Ya know, it wasn't until this item went EOL/Sold Out that I really realized how cool looking it was. Still, though, $180.00 is a lot of money for me to drop on something like this. I guess, though, it's a lot less than I'd be dropping on it right now, though.

Very disappointing about the cancellations. Most will get the Chima polybag! For me one is shipping(full retail) and the other one(used VIP points) was cancelled. Go figure??? Have a great weekend,

This really irks me. They obviously are looking at past purchases. I bought one for my daughter to commemorate her birth. I also bought one for myself. I wanted to buy at least one more for display at our shop. Just because I bought 2 already, doesn't mean im going to resell them.
  • theLEGOmantheLEGOman Member Posts: 1,524
They have these on the UK [email protected] at the moment as well.

I feel the same - I bought one for myself and one for my twin sister. They cancelled the second. :-(

Not sure about this conclusion, may TLG to much credit. If they are cancelling due to quantity limit, why still ship those people the freebie? My guess is a wonky algorithm that can't track inventory, processes last orders first and sends random orders to customer service for review:)

Got an email on the 26th stating that my [email protected] HH was shipped from an order in early Sept... see if it actually arrives or gets cancelled today. Do they ever do that? Message that an item has shipped and then cancel?

This. They have a long proven record of not following FIFO order fulfillment

^Finally, there's an actual benefit to having my last name begin early in the alphabet then...other than getting to be one of the first to get audited by the IRS. ;-)

I don't know if the IRS goes by last name, social security number or a combination of both. There's also EIN or Federal ID numbers that people use on their tax forms. Depending where you live; your forms are sent to different processing centers and electronic forms are processed different. The simple fact that not everyone files their taxes at the same time as well.

No, I know. I was just babbling incoherently as usual. The IRS is just as an enigma as [email protected]

Do we know any Polish AFOLs? German military texts enciphered on the Enigma machine were first broken by the Polish Cipher Bureau, beginning in December 1932.

How many Polish decipherers does it take to...nevermind.

This has been going in and out of stock at Target this morning. I missed the brief 7am and 9am windows but I got lucky with a 10am window!

Thanks for the heads up, will need to keep an eye out. But is this a site error and they have none to sell I guess is the question.
  • legogregorslegogregors Member Posts: 402
It is hard to say, there is very little risk as you shouldn't be charged unless it ships and you have a 90 day return policy in case this floods the market.

It popped up at [email protected] last week and maybe amazon last night so I am hoping this is not a site error.

This set #10228 has now shipped from this morning so everyone keep your eyes open. I had an alert set which pinged at 7am but I missed it. I had it in my cart at 9am but it went out of stock mid-checkout and then just got lucky around 10am. Good luck,

I had my order cancelled from [email protected] very early last month...only to have it used to meet someone else's order apparently...

Man - if someone has a line on these somewhere for some reasonable prices let me know!!

It's understandable why many folks are scrabbling to get this set......it's only been available for two years. :)

As with so many sets, it's always "if I'd only bought this when I had the money..." regrets.

So what? Does everyone have $180 disposable income just laying around every month to blow on Lego? What if someone was, ahem, actually saving up for this set for Halloween only to have it EOL two months prior? Kind of poor planning on Lego's part. And great planning on feeding the resellers...

The poor planning was siphoning off supply to TRU, Wally, Amazon and Target since late summer. When [email protected] became the only place to get it at retail (a telltale sign for EOL), that took care of the stock pretty quickly.

I think TLG has missed out on alot of sales. I am surprised they didn't keep it out a little longer since it was such a nice big set.

^I thought this would be one set that got at least a three or four year production run, seeing as how popular it was. Pretty surprising. I cried a bit.

I'm new to the hobby and was bummed to see this theme is retired.

Zombies set and HH aside, getting most of the sets used should not be a big deal. Heck I think TRU US still has the MF castle in stock.
  • FatMattFatMatt Member Posts: 502
^Nope, been out of it for a while now.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,680
My TRU still has the Castle and loads of Barrel Escapes priced over RRP.

Feeding resellers is Lego's goal the past few years now, just take a look at all the resellers and their price reality> it is just bonkers - but Lego loves it and is hopping for a lot more. The regular customer is now a days apperently a necessary evil.

My point of few of a customer might be old school but I

I can tell you most resellers probably feel like LEGO is doing just about everything they can to rain on their parade, so it's all about the perspective you view the debate. That said, if both resellers are feeling no love and the average customer is feeling no love, that will ultimately not be good for LEGO as a brand.

^ Just like the saying 'cutting off your nose to spite your face'. If the no discount policy, etc. it aimed at resellers the regular customer becomes collateral damage. I think most people look for sales, etc. The biggest retail day in the U.S. is Black Friday and it is all about sales.

^You must be joking that most people like sales. Just look how well JC Penney did when they discontinued sales (sarcasm).

Seriously, I absolutely agree with you. In my case, discontinuing sales will likely entice me to buy select expensive/exclusive sets solely for resale purposes, and could cause me to forgo such sets for personal use (unless I really love the set, which is rare these days).

Although I can technically afford the higher end exclusive sets, I really prefer to get them at a discount (say, at least 10%). I'm sure I'm not alone here.

You are totally right! I had not thought about it too much, but now that I think about it the last big exclusive that I actually opened and built was the Pet Shop! Back when it came out... In the past I owned and built Taj M, Eiffel, Green Grocer, GE, TB, Mindstorms, etc... Now everything exclusive=stacks of sealed boxes. It does take away from the hobby. :(

I buy mods after getting enough points to get me about 25 % discount on the set I want, and cover tax as well.
I just do not spend as much since they removed these from sales

If you think about it, people will always want something for less. Even if a set came out at a great piece/weight to price ratio, people would still want it at a discount. That's how it goes.

Example, a 2000 piece set with multiple exclusive figures selling at 180 or below. To me, that's a good deal as it stands, but I'd gladly welcome it cheaper. Even if it is highly unlikely to get it lower.

2000 pieces does not mean what it used to IMO.
For example, If you get 200 2/3 cheese wedges and 200 1x1 brick in a set, is that really 'good value'?

^ fair enough, but I also want my 2000 piece set to have a bunch of tiny cheese slopes or similar detailing bits. Otherwise it is a clunky pile of 2x4s I wouldn't even consider buying.

Yeah but that is to an extreme, not to mention that people were buying those basic brick sets by the pallet from Walmart on BF two years ago even though those were by all accounts 'basic brick' so I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder. A modular is a good example of value for the dollar, but I do not consider a #10193 for example as great value considering how many small bits are in there. And do I consider a Tower bridge great value for what it costs? No, not with all the cheese slopes and what not in it.

Also, can the title of this thread be changed as the set is sold out from [email protected] USA?

Is it sold out for good though? I'm not sure if it is. I wouldn't be suprised to see another batch before Halloween
