Possibly Selling my collection.

SquirrelSquirrel Member Posts: 13
Just trying to get a feel for this. Do people buy whole collections?
http://brickset.com/sets/ownedby-Squirrel these are most of the sets that I own. They are unopened. I also have quite a few opened sets and few sets worth of new parts. Also a lot of extra collectible mini-figs.
Do you guys think its possible to sell this as a whole?

I think it is if somebody wants them. By the way I might be interested depending on How much your selling for and what it is. May ask why your selling it all?

I am financially unable to keep up like I would want to. I also have not had time to even build like I planned on. Bought a house and have switched some of my priorities around :/

I'm potentially interested in some of your sets. PM me once you get everything figured out, we could work something out.

The biggest problem you'll have selling a complete collection is finding someone with the sort of money to drop it all at once. It also means you are likely to have to give a massively good deal and even then it'll be harder to sell together than selling individual sets.

I'm Very interested in buying ALL of your sets PM me when you have an estimate price range.

You'll get much better prices if you do a little extra work yourself. For example, split all the CMFs into one lot and sell as a complete set of sets. Maybe sell superheroes all together, AC all together, SW all together, etc.

Otherwise it will probably just go to a reseller, who will want a more significant discount as they will need to make a profit too when it comes to selling them on.

I'm definitely interested in buying some of your sets so if you do decide to break it up in to smaller lots please PM me with an idea of cost on however you end up grouping them. Thanks!

The first question is... where are you? Location, location, location... :)

The other issue is, I think you should at least split it between new and used. I have no interest in the used sets, as an example...

All of the sets in my collection listed there are new. There are a couple that I did open and assemble but only a few. They were put back and never even displayed. No stickers applied etc. I am in Michigan.

And so on, and so on.
    Ever heard of Craigslist?
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
^ Yea, frankly that would be a much easier way to move it, but again, anyone who wants it all is almost always going to be a reseller. You save shipping and hassle doing it locally, but shipping isn't actually that expensive for that much stuff.

I am going to make time to get a market value for it and then the discounted price that I would like to sell it for as a whole. Anyone who has contacted me via PM with interest in buying it as a whole I will get you those figures as soon as I can. Thanks for the interest.
