So my store manager changed his story on me. He told me yesteday that the sets are not for sale separately, and only free with purchase. He let me buy one fire station because I brought it up to his face that he told me last week they were for sale separately and his employee even sold me two of them no questions asked. Now I question whether the two week 4 sets that were put on hold for me to buy on the 26th are still there waiting for me.

I called another store and was told that they are for sale separately, but only the previous weeks sets. The current and future ones were not for sale until the next one was "released".

Yes, same story I got yesterday. You can buy the previous week's sets. It's just a waiting game.

Sounds like a great strategy. kor! I can't find anything to buy at TRU to get the free Bricktober sets unless it is Bricktober sets.

@margot: I agree that the Bricktober sets are quite unique this year, and that is why I want all four of them. But I still think that the price is too high, but then I feel the same about most LEGO sets as well. (IMHO the Parisien Restaurant is one of the best values these days, and they don't carry it at my TRU.) It may be that when you run out of space for more LEGO, you automatically become more selective in what you buy because it may have to replace another set. Who knows!

The one I bought bricktober sets at seemed to allow purchase of the current week's set. I was just trying to purchase the theater sets in Week 2, to get to $75 on one order, but the cashier rang up one pizza place instead of one theater. On the receipt I was charged for the pizza place, but got the theater for free.

@Russell844‌ , I just got the fire station yesterday from the Hayward store. They let me purchase it without any issue, so far, I got the 40180 (Way before the official Launch day) and 40182 at Hayward store and 40181 at Dublin store on the launch day! and I bought each one of it, not got it as a free gift. the 40183 probably need to wait until this Sunday

Yeah I have picked up each by themselves for 19.99 a piece. I spoke with the manager and he said just come back on Sunday of week 4 and I could do a return/rebuy and get all 4. I am going to grab those 4 and one of the new Hobbit sets to put me over that $75 mark.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
I guess i may do that too, but which mean I may waste my $5 reward. but at least i get 20 back

Bad news today, the first day of Week Four in Bricktober at TRU. Our Cary, NC, store informed me this morning as I tried to buy two Town Hall sets that they could no longer sell them as per a notice HQ sent out two days ago. They said you have to spend 75US to get these sets now. What a pile of poopie! I have bought the first three sets with no problem...19.95US in TRU.

I told the clerk that my son and DIL would kill me if I came home without a copy for each of them, so she rang up one cent each set, and then added the correct 19.95 price. I ended up with a free one after hitting the 75US mark. If they try to tell you this, stand there and patiently and calmly demand that they sell them just like they did in weeks one, two and three of the promotion. I hate it when they change the rules at the end. Our store seems to have low demand for these sets. And there is nothing I need to buy at the moment to reach the 75US requirement for a free Bricktober set.

Coming home, I built the last of the four sets and love it! The little bus and truck are very cute too. Now the challenge is to enlarge the four sets enough to attach to my set of mini-modulars. These are very cute sets!

No problems here. My wife stopped by and bought 2 on her way to work. She used 2 seperate $5 rewards coupons making each one 14.99.

Legogal: Did Cary have any Fire Stations left over from week 3?
  • legogallegogal Member Posts: 754
@ecmo, Sorry, but I did not check for Fire Stations. It seems that they are selling slowly, so you might be in luck if you call first. But good luck if the manager says you have to meet the 75.00 Minimum to get one and can't buy them any more.

Sales clerks can sell these as well as managers. So if you meet resistance from one person try another day, another person, another store...
  • Ma1234Ma1234 Member Posts: 693
No problem buying these at all individually. And all the stores have tons of all weeks piled up and for sale.
  • legogallegogal Member Posts: 754
Yes, this makes sense. I have found often that the youngest, least experienced clerks at TRU can be the easiest to deal with if they can just figure our how to do what you want without asking their managers! And I have noticed the stacks of unsold Bricktober sets lying around, so there should be some serious discounting once Week Four ends next Sunday.

Yesterday, I managed to get a complete set (with an extra town hall for free) at a TRU that had pricetags for these on the shelf. They didn't have any on the shelf but had a few boxes of each when I asked if they had any left.
  • legogallegogal Member Posts: 754
Wow! That is great! Where is your TRU located? Town Hall is my favorite, too, especially the two vehicles. If these sets get any smaller, they are going to have to throw in a free magnifying glass. Seriously.

My TRU is already out of Town halls, but interestingly, they were out of firehouses, but now have more of those. This has been a weird bricktober.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
^Yes, it has. My TRU complained about only having 10-15 of the first set and then the next week they had stacks of them.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
The manager said the corporate office sent email to them. They are not supposed to sell any of those set alone until after this Saturday. So I wind up got the bike shop and get the town hall. Will see if I want to keep it. Mixer and Simpson House got higher priority

Encountered not being able to buy Bricktobers at my TRU today. I only wanted 1. They have tons of them sitting around and aren't sure whether they will be able to sell them starting tomorrow or if they are going to get sent back.
  • legogallegogal Member Posts: 754
Will call my TRU today, Sunday, to see what is happening with the leftover Bricktober sets. Which one are you looking for, @margot? They surely did botch up this promotion with their sell, no sell, sell, no sell, no sell but I am not sure....behavior. Are they in business, or what? Again these are very nice little sets. But the effort to acquire them is not. Hope they really offer.... to actually sell.... to live customers.... in their store... with real money in their hands.... sets like this but on 8 by 8 plates next year.

My store has lots of all four out on the shelf. Our Lego rep was even just there and apparently had no objections.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
Yeah, I went back a day later and they were selling them. I guess corporate changes their mind on a daily basis.
  • pcironepcirone Member Posts: 346
Probably more like managers read the memos and pay attention to the correct policy on a daily basis.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
They are selling it! Went back to return the Bike Shop and got the 40183 alone
  • iplanteiplante Member Posts: 164
My TRU has 3 of the 4 Bricktober sets on the shelves for 19.99ea. I got a smashed box pizza place for 14.95 though. :)
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
Same here, which is your store missing? Town Hall? I wonder why the town halls are all gone? Maybe just more popular.
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
I guess some of the store let people bought 4 set and get the Town Hall for free
  • iplanteiplante Member Posts: 164
    @margot I think so :)
  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651
I bet the manager at my TRU wishes she'd sold me a pizza place back when I wanted to buy two. Now, I'm over it. No town halls, oddly enough.
  • EKSamEKSam Member Posts: 349
Are we going to see listings of #10224 paired with the bricktober town halls on ebay soon? :-) My local tru had run out of the promos, nor were they willing to sell just the set back when the promo was running. Might have to drop by and see what they have.

Are there any Bricksetters out there who could pick me up a #40180 Theatre and post to the UK? It's the only one left that I need. If possible with a Rocket Raccoon polybag or two (though that's not a deal breaker!). Please PM if you can.

  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
    ^pm sent
  • legogallegogal Member Posts: 754
My Tru in Cary, NC said they could not sell them anymore when I stopped by a week ago. Will check again tomorrow or Monday when I go raccoon hunting.

Every week was out for purchase at my TRU. PM me if you'd like any or all of them, and I'll see what I can do.
