I called another store and was told that they are for sale separately, but only the previous weeks sets. The current and future ones were not for sale until the next one was "released".
@margot: I agree that the Bricktober sets are quite unique this year, and that is why I want all four of them. But I still think that the price is too high, but then I feel the same about most LEGO sets as well. (IMHO the Parisien Restaurant is one of the best values these days, and they don't carry it at my TRU.) It may be that when you run out of space for more LEGO, you automatically become more selective in what you buy because it may have to replace another set. Who knows!
I told the clerk that my son and DIL would kill me if I came home without a copy for each of them, so she rang up one cent each set, and then added the correct 19.95 price. I ended up with a free one after hitting the 75US mark. If they try to tell you this, stand there and patiently and calmly demand that they sell them just like they did in weeks one, two and three of the promotion. I hate it when they change the rules at the end. Our store seems to have low demand for these sets. And there is nothing I need to buy at the moment to reach the 75US requirement for a free Bricktober set.
Coming home, I built the last of the four sets and love it! The little bus and truck are very cute too. Now the challenge is to enlarge the four sets enough to attach to my set of mini-modulars. These are very cute sets!
