Series 12 found at walmart

Found a picked over box at walmart after work in western Pennsylvania! Have a few extras, need the goth girl. Sorry if this is old news.

Can I ask where in western PA this was?
  • paul88paul88 Member Posts: 169
Sure, I'm In Homer City, and the wm was in Indiana, PA. It's only about 10 minutes away from me. The area in general is about 1 hour and 20 minutes NE of Pittsburgh. Hope that's enough info LOL!

If someone could post a picture of the upc either package or box or both that would be appreciated.
  • paul88paul88 Member Posts: 169
Here you go! I blurred what I thought might be sensitive material on the receipt. I also bought a transformer for about $25 which was the remainder of the bill in addition to the minifigures.

So on the Walmart app, if the series 12 UPC is showing up with pricing at a given store, does that mean they have them? The three nearest ones to me are coming up with $3.97. But they don't have information beyond that.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,755
The retail on these will be 3.99 USD :-(
  • paul88paul88 Member Posts: 169
Yeah, the new price is a killer! I probably would have bought the remainder of the box if it weren't for A. looked like someone already "cherry picked" the box and B. 3.97 price! I thought that was temporarily for the simpsons due to licensing, but I guess it's the standard now.
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
@Dedgecko‌ the upc for the box would probably show more on the WalMart app, especially for a new item. I scanned the package upc and it says no information available too at all stores around me. That happened for the simpsons figures too. When I scanned the UPC for the box it actually showed me inventory availability.

Also found it at San Leandro Walmart (San Francsico Bay Area). If it is 3.99, then I probably only got a few only.

And that is the other issue, cherry picking for the rares or sought after ones (not always the same thing) will be at an all time high, same with theft of these. You are going to see a LOT more torn open packs at 3.99 USD.
3.99 USD is just ridiculous IMO and it is really causing me to have a hard time wanting them even though there are some neat figures in this set.
Why not just add a few more things in the pack, turn the pack into a box and place it on the shelf and charge 1-2 more dollars per? (yknow like this little guy #7567 )

Found the Space Miner guy in a fairly picked over box. While I agree that $4 is too high, it is comparable to other action figures on the market for what you get. My youngest son was briefly into the polybag Minions and those were $3-4 for something that was even smaller than the CMF and without any accessories.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@mathew but it's not really in line with other small LEGO sets. I'd much rather have a Friends animal set or a polybag than a CMF, and I'd take 1 Mixel over any 2 CMFs. The Arctic plane is cheaper than a CMF at Target at the moment. In that framework the pricing doesn't make much sense. Are they relying on our completionist tendencies? I'm considering how attached I am to the idea of having all of them. If I were childless I probably wouldn't buy many of this series however my daughter will no doubt take care of that idea.

Simpsons CMFs, the Friends animals series, and Mixels suggests yes.

There is a trend of blind bag everything these days.
I hate to say it but $3.99 is not at the high end of blind bag pricing.

I dunno what is going no, but I never said what was quoted.

You're right "madforLego," it was another forum member "Jenni" who mentioned "completionist tendency"

Sorry, I was going to respond to your post earlier, it was still in the text box, and when I responded to Jenni's post I deleted the wrong quote tag.

Walmart in Arbutus MD had a picked through half a box today, not a single video game guy left.

Found them at my central OH Walmart. This is the first time that I have ever:

1.) Found them prior to the floor date.
2.) Found them at my Walmart.

There was no box, just around 30 packs thrown on the shelf. Unfortunately, the packs that were there did not contain a complete set of 16. There were no Prospectors or Dino Hunters to be found. I bought the other 14 plus a few extras that I wanted.

Is it just me or does it seem like the hype over the CMF is much higher than usual with this series? I have yet to find them anywhere in my town, and it's making me paranoid! I'm going to check Walgreens sometime this week, but my local Walmart, here on the Jersey Shore, had nothing. :(

Random question: I got suckered and tried the minifigure game. The codes on the packs are invalid- I'm guessing it's due to release before street date, but just checking if anyone else has had success entering them?

^ and everyone unwilling to wait for Bricktober or holiday sales to offset the higher msrp. At $2.99 I switched to just select figs from each series (often on sale). At $3.99, I guarantee I won't touch them until BOGOHO.

The usual way of finding out is to massage the blind packets and feel them up.
The other way is to weigh them.
I usually just stand around massaging packets till I got everything I want.

NO, the codes that come with the minifigure do not work. My guess is that it'll only work after October 1st?

True, probably on an overall scale. But oddly enough, I had no trouble finding them in stores, in fact, my Target even had them early. This time around though, it's like every store around me is dead set on an October 1st release.

Oh yes, a new series of CMF means more time spent desperately feeling little plastic packages, sweating as nearby parents and store employees stare at you. The joys of being a collector.

Seeing how fast I can feel out a complete set of 16 + any extras I want is where the fun is for me. It's amazing how fast and accurate you can get at it. I absolutely fly through them and am never wrong. I have went through hundreds of packs and have only been wrong on two figs - once when my wife was yelling at me to leave and once when I really had to pee.

I keep telling myself that S12 is it for me. I have them all except Mr. Gold and have loved collecting them, but the price increase combined with what I feel is a decrease in quality is really bothering me. I will miss the hunt though for sure.

Yeah. Part of me wants to get a box since 3 of each rare is back, but Just having a hard time with it as money is a bit tight right now, even if buying a box is cheaper than buying individual packs. Plus I know Ill want extras of even the rares, so Ill likely be trying to find those later which is another purchase.
I kinda wish LEGO would stop the CMF but seeing as they keep selling like mad that will likely not occur for some time.
As for feeling, it is hard at first, but once I have felt out a few packs it does really become easier, even with looks of the employees and customers.

Honestly, the only place I feel truly comfortable feeling multiple packs is at the Lego Store, because everyone there knows what you're doing, and they're doing the same thing. One time, I even had a little girl helping me find Medusa while I looked for Mr. Gold for her.

Target store actually sent a security personnel once to check me on me because I stood for such a long time on the same spot (in front of the CMF end cap display which was right under the security camera on the ceiling).

The security lady asked me if I am OK and I said I was and then she saw my shopping basket full of CMF packets and then she left me alone.

Hahaha! That must have been fun!
At least you have something to feel! None sighted in our TRU, WM or Target yet in Cary, NC. (Maybe someone bought all of them.....you rat!)
I will wait until our LEGO store has them and get just the four I want instead of all 16.
