    Just got back from the lego store VIP event, the windows did look printed!

    Just seen it myself and thought the main window bottom left was a sticker. Probably wrong but a very good looking set regardless.

    Will be a day one purchase, I'd usually wait but I have 3 days off then so it'll give me something to do whilst I nurse my holiday hangover.

    To be honest the main reason I thought it was printed was the lack of tiny bubbles you get with window stickers. Though I was nursing a bad hangover myself this morning so I could just be seeing things!

    I love the storyline and now understand why the kitchen on the top floor. Could probably replace the stove with a tub, if I should want the story to be about bathtub gin. But in that case, it wouldn't be a detective who'd be on the watch for it, it'd be the Feds. You could almost do a Who Framed Roger Rabbit scenario, with the barrel holding "The Dip". Oh, tons of ideas for elaborations....

    If that is the helicarrier it reminds me of the WW2 aircraft carrier models that i used to see in hobby stores when I was little.

    Well this has convinced me to start buying the modulars. Fantastic set. Just bought the Palace Cinema so this will have something to connect to when it's released (the Lego Store sucked me in with the pre-Brick Friday offer today). I have to say the cookies will be making their way over to my Christmas Village though, replaced by some "bottles"!

    The official set title is Detective's Office. The title for this thread dates back from when we were all speculating about the set. Perhaps now it should be changed to match the correct set title.

    Thank you for the clarification, I was just confused because I keep reading DA. Every time I read DA I think district attorney.

    ^You know you spend too much time in the Lego world when your watching Law & Order or similar, they mention the DA and the first thing you think of is Diagon Alley. :p

    I've now seen the set in person and can confirm that the windows are printed. Really happy with the decision on that one.

    The set looks awesome, looking forward to building this one.

    See, to me, DA stands for Dumbledore's Army...But when I see DO, I think Dojo...odd

    Either way, the building will be neat I think. Can't wait to MOD it.

    'DA' usually stands for the set #10217 Diagon Alley, at least as most in the forum refer to it as.
    So when you have people talking about how DA is coming out (especially when the set name is Detective Office) you are going to confuse people.

    Well I've finally got into Cardiff and seen the set. It does look really good, but it's a real shame it's in the same display case as the new Slave I - that ship is so huge it makes the DO look tiny! And now I've seen Slave I close up I really want it too....

    Stopped by the Lego store tonight to look around and they had put out the DO for sale so I bought it. It's open and on my dining table to build. It also comes with a loose instruction sheet handed out by an employee for applying or removing a film for the mirror.

    Sorry, this is the supplemental instruction sheet you get at the store sitting next to the instruction book for reference. The book by the way is a nice perfect bound style.

    @oldtodd33‌ - that instruction looks more to me like you're just being told to take a protective film off the mirror piece rather than apply a transfer to it.
    So I would think, rather than it being not as good a piece as we'd thought (Jamie was unambiguous in the designer video, this is a mirrored piece), that the instructions just didn't factor in that TLG wanted to protect the piece in the box.

    If that's the case, the pieces are all correct, there's no actual error anywhere at all with the wrong piece or a missing step to make the mirror piece into a mirror when it isn't yet a mirror. If anything wouldn't the slight omission in the instructions make this first batch more collectible for it?

    Can you confirm that?

    ^ The employee told me that some people were getting confused as to what to do with the mirror piece so that's why they put out the additional sheet. I thought to myself that it just came out so how are people getting confused so early on.

    ^ Employees, usability testers, people getting it early for review are probably the sources of people getting confused. They probably had enough comments on it that it was worth adding the page.

    ^ I can confirm what he is saying and it makes sense that they put a film on the mirror to protect it during packing and shipping and shelf wear. It's just weird that people wouldn't know to peel it off and they had to include instructions to do so. That type of film comes on so many electronics these days it's hard to imagine people don't know what to do with it.

    @oldtodd33 You give humanity too much credit. I spend half my life dealing with people who fail to stop and think for five seconds about the logical answer to their questions, which are often staring them right in the face. LEGO sets are probably one of the few products in the world where a large number of users actually take time to read through all of the instructions.

    ^ Maybe so. The ironic thing is with me any way is that I am not going to peel it off to protect it. You can't see it when the model is done and I don't play with them like a doll house so it will be fine not peeled.
