So I got this piece from a friend's dad back in 1986 and he said it was from a set he played with as a boy. So it is probably from the 60's. I have never seen a piece like it before and cannot find it anywhere. "Lego" is stamped on the studs, and there is a "Pat. Pend." and an "A-6" stamped on the bottom. My best guess is that it was used as some sort of trailer hitch. Does anyone know, what set it came from?

Thanks for any help.

Just for future reference, @olanderd, there's a whole thread dedicated to identifying pieces: http://www.bricksetforum.com/discussion/513/master-thread-help-identifying-parts#latest ;-)
