Wonder if this lights up. Of course I'm taking my daughters.

Is the Bat-signal piece the same one from the Bat-cave set? That would awesome with an LED back light, but the one I have is black with print. I can't believe LEGO hasn't already done a bat-signal set with light brick and Gordan figure. Especially with a golden age Batman.

Looks like the same from #6860 to me. Can't imagine they'd craft a new piece for a TRU promo.

typical, best promo's happen in us

I was thinking how awesome it would be if they made the bat symbol piece out of clear plastic with print and a light brick, so I could set it up on top of a modular and project it onto the wall behind it.

Yet they have (as least with decoration). The Captain America shield mosaic, only done at a giveaway at TRU in Canada, did. It included two decorated 2x4 tiles that make up the shield emblem.

still sad that never hit the states. :(

Really strange that they didn't do that one in EU or U.S. Frankly, there should be some alternative for VIP members to get these in-store promos. I think half the time it causes more angst than goodwill. Maybe offer an online PAB package (limited to one per account), or something like that.

That would be pretty sweet. What's weird is the US got the Superman and Batman logo build well before Canada did, so it seemed fitting the Cap shield would make it's way here...I mean it's Captain America, not Captain Canada. :)

Maybe the U.S. will get a Captain Canuck mosaic.

My boy asked me this morning, "Have you gotten a message yet about a lego build thing at Toys R Us yet?" He was so excited to hear that there'd be one in October; he said, "We have to be really good to go to that, right?" I didn't tell him what it was; he'll be even more excited to know it's Batman!

At least get him to clean his room. And if you clean dad's room, I'll make sure you get a Batman set...

I think there is a Star Wars build the week before too. I have not seen an official announcement on this though.

I saw it somewhere. There is, and it's a mini-Ghost model.

That would be so much more interesting if it were an actual "ghost" and not the ship from the new Star Wars franchise.

I was really hoping to get a copy of the Bat Signal at tomorrow's event, but I'm unfortunately getting dragged to a wedding tomorrow. If any of you happen to find yourself with an extra and want to help a fellow bricksetter out I would greatly appreciate it! I'm willing pay for shipping and your effort. Please and thanks.

I'm going to get on here and bitch a little bit. We got to our TRU around 12:30 or 12:45, and they were wiped out. I don't know how long it had been like that or how many people had been turned away before us, but I heard a worker say, "We had enough for 300," which makes me think someone came in and snatched up as many as they could beforehand. I took my kids and a friend, and they were all pretty bummed about this.

If TRU is going to advertise a 2 hour event, they better make sure they've got enough for the whole 2 hrs. If I'd gotten there at 1:30, I wouldn't complain. But there's no reason to be out within the first 45 minutes. And then I come home and see these sets selling on eBay for between $15 and $20, and I'm just more ticked off.

This is the first bad experience we've had there with one of these builds, but it's also the first time we haven't been there before 12:30. Anyway, a bummer of a day at TRU for us. Hopefully our college football team wins today; that'll make up for it.

The popular TRU's run out in the first 20-30 minutes, it's typical. My regular TRU runs out quickly while another TRU doesn't run out and they just put out the parts and don't even supervise the event.
@CircleK, I have a Bat Signal for you.
Does anyone have a spare Ghost from last week for me?

Its been my experience that if u show up around 1145 u will be able to get the build for a little time. Had no issues with the two builds I've done at my TRU. No issue being an adult doing it either. Probably because I am usually one of the first that are in line.

This is the 3rd TRU promo I attended w/ my kids & this time arrived at noon, there was a long line but we managed to get the build & a comic book. My kids werent impressed. We hung around the store a little longer & an employee said they'd run out in 20 minutes, so Im glad we werent late. I told a harried-looking mom on our way out, they were gone.

Wow, people run home & sell it online, sad, really. They do that w/ new gaming systems now too, I guess. Whatever. The best part of the Bat Signal is, now we can make a couple evil R2 units w/ the black astromech droid legs.

Doesnt light up, I didnt think so. The advert pic is misleading.

Agreed. That was my first thought! :)

My wife took our kids today. She got there a little after noon and didn't have any problems. She said it was really packed though. I was stuck at home remodeling our basement.

Loved the comic too...it was a fairly high quality extra. The line was decent at our store, but I always get there around 11. Today we got there at 11:20 and were about 4th in line. My girls each built one and I built one for our six week old son (you know...for when he's older ;) )
  • dannyrwwdannyrww Member Posts: 1,394
Interestingly they let me take a third set but not a comic
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
We were running late so didn't get there until around 12:15. It was actually perfect because the huge line was completely gone, they had enough left for us to get a couple, and they were getting close to running out. I am not going early anymore because the line and all of the people who try to cut in line totally stresses me out.

I am covered for the Ghost build. Thanks @Thanos75!

Got to our local TRU at 1:30 due to soccer commitments and they were all gone. The lady was kind enough to give all 4 of us a comic with SW poster so that was pretty cool. The poster is huge and the comic is very nice!
