The sets the spark my interest are Battle at Endor, or the Hoth Wampa cave. I find far more playability with those.
My son does not have much interest in it. I suspect it is for the same reason.
I wouldn't consider myself into it though.
I love the first three original movies (A new Hope - Return of the Jedi) I just did not want to start getting into MORE series to collect.
I have picked up TWO sets only and that's Luke's Landspeeder, and Slave One.
I do want the new X-Wing though!!
I suppose it depends if you want to play or display the sets, for younger children i don't
think they have much play value compared to city/other sets
I've never been a huge SW fan outside of LEGO, and I just feel overwhelmed with the scope and cost of the line. Basically it's a path I don't want to take that first step down.
I just find sets like the modulars, IFS, EN, Grand Carousel, Unimog, etc so much more interesting.

Perhaps I should have put a ;-) after the "fools". ;-P
I personally love Star Wars but would be the first to admit that the movies aren't great (OT & PT) and I respect the opinions of those who dislike the movies and specifially the PT. But I am disappointed that Star Wars can't be discussed without someone having a go at Lucas and/or pointing how much the movies (especially the PT) suck and explaining in great detail (or referring to websites that do so) exactly why they suck. In a discussion that is talking about Star Wars but not specifically the movies, it seems to me to be unnecessary.
I realise I am being naive to expect it not to be brought up but it doesn't change the fact I am disappointed everytime I see it.
Personally I want theholiday special in lego. Now that is a good film.
Ultimately, I think it's time Star Wars died. It's a dead horse and it's time to stop beating money out of it.
Star Wars Merch sells and that just bothers some people. The way some people react on here as if the SW lic has somehow stomped out all other legos is insane.
I always thought Lego afficionados would love Star Wars even if they didn't collect because of how it helped Lego.
I dont think it will however when you look at the size of the market for fans and with younger fans coming through toy makers will always see a profit their but if CW stops and they dont make any new tv serie they will have a lull.
^you would think so but not always I mean the conlib coalition are kinda doing stuff they have to, to lower the deficit but I still dont like them. Same for lego and even I am disappointed by the quality of some of the summer and winter sets
As for people of a certain age (of which I include myself) having a pop at the new stuff, it is only natural, we tend to look at new SW and try to compare it to old SW and ultimately nothing new will ever compare to the first time we saw SW in the cinema (or on TV) as impressionable youths (sadly the first I saw SW in the cinema was 1997 as I was only 1 in 1976), but if you actively try to remember that when watching the films now they really aren’t that bad, dialogue is a bit ropy and the acting a bit stiff (no change from the OT there then) but the effects and the operatic style drama still come through in a strong and enjoyable way. And as for the CW, it’s a cartoon, one I think is very enjoyable (including the film in 2007) but as a man in his 30’s watching a kids cartoon I don’t think I can throw stones at that one.
Much like the feelings I have when playing with Lego nowadays. It is to remind me of a happier time long long ago... not to dwell on the miserable details of today. So cast aside all ill feelings for Lucas & his poor directorial skills and enjoy the ride that is Lego Starwars.
HERETIC!!!
BURN HIM!!!!!!!
First Star Wars alongside with Bionicle were the only two profitable themes in the dark years of the early 2000's (even if mostly so in years when a prequel was released), and helped Lego pull through. I also think Star Wars helped Lego keep faith in normal minifigure sets.
Secondly, LSW saved the Lego build. In a time when Lego was degenerating into 4+ and juniorization, LSW showed that Lego sets could have interesting and complex builds and still be popular. Looking at sets from 2002 and 2003, LSW outshines the other themes in how interesting and complicated the models are, even at minifig scale. Without it, I don't know if we would have seen the revival of Lego from 2005 onwards.
I completely see why people aren't enthused by LSW though, it's more expensive and there are many very interesting and original themes out there.
Still, anything that makes money and keeps the company going so they can be adventurous in other themes is good in my book. :)
I'm not into Lego Star Wars at all. Of course, I'm willing to buy a SW set if it's reasonably priced compared to regular set prices, but most of them needs to be half off to be so. I wouldn't consider buying a SW set for its storyline significance. If anything, perhaps to have a minifig of a particular actor (Ewan Mcgregor is the only one that comes to mind from Star Wars, though).
She gets to touch my UCS Imperial Shuttle with strict supervision but that's it. Even the simpler Clone Wars sets (which I hate, but she loves) are out of pocket money range and require a birthday or Christmas to get.
When I realized what a racket the action figures are, coupled with the disappointing release of Episode 1, I was just done.
So I was doing the monthly check down and dusting of my collection & in doing so was thinking who are the dedicated collectors of SW Lego? or just those who Love the SW line! And what you got in your collection.
Fav set, Fiq, ect
As I re-sort out my shelf I thought I would all so share my collection, I am more of a Fig type of collectore and have 150 Different fiq (inc character varents) so will upload a few photos as I do it :)
Sometimes I wish I was into Star Wars. That way, I would have so many more sets to buy and enjoy building! Of course, I would be poorer, too, so maybe things are good the way they are...
As a collector, I choose not to collect SW sets. There are a few I would love to have, but they are only the classic ones like the x-wing, MF, and tie fighter. I almost bought the Death Star recently, but had to keep myself from doing so. I'd much rather use that money to buy the new Monster Fighters sets.
That said... I do like the SW minifigures and some of the more expensive SW builds. That R2 looks amazing... and if I had the money to get a Millennium Falcon or Death Star I probably would. I guess that's part of the problem, a lot of the sets that are at my price point just aren't very interesting to me but the ones that I do like are too much!
