Does anyone else do this?

Does anyone else go to their local Lego Store, even though you know exactly what they have? My girlfriend is really supportive of my addiction, but she absolutely hates that I drag her into the store every single time we are at Disneyland (which is a lot since we are pass holders)

I can't even come up with a good reason. I have been there a thousand times, I know what what they do and don't have, yet I love walking in and just looking around.

I just tell her it's payback for her shopping trips that make me want to shoot myself XD

My first thought was ... you're an addicted AFOL .... and ... you have a girlfriend????
Then, when I accepted you might actually be serious, I thought ...
... Just tell her you're keeping an eye out for any super-bargains; that'll mean more money left over for you to spend on her ...

My wife wonders why we (me and my two children) are always happy when she says she wants to go shopping at Bluewater (for those non-UK, it's a massive shopping centre near London). Every visit it means at least two hours in the LEGO store admiring the products!

However, it is quite good if there is a set made up that you are thinking of buying. We did this with the Simpsons house and after seeing it close up, decided not to buy.

It isn't an addiction, it is just good manners to visit an old friend if you are in the vicinity!

I'm single now, but if I was due a visit to the Lego store for every time I was dragged into a clothes shop by an ex-girlfriend, I'd be spending a lot of time in Lego stores.

I live about a 10 minute drive down one fairly large street from the LEGO Store in Cincinnati. I will often just pop in on my days off and have befriended a few of the staff members there. At this point, going to the Store is much more about the friends there then the LEGO (though the LEGO certainly helps).

I'm lucky that my girlfriend is REALLY supportive and understanding. She will often ask me if I want to stop in the LEGO Store if we are going to the mall for her. Sometimes we'll just be in the vicinity of it and she'll ask!

Many LEGO fans do this. In fact, I know several people who spends the entire day at the LEGO store on a regular basis. Or at least several hours. They chat with the staff, the manager, help out customers, clean up the PAB wall, and play areas, etc. It is a great way for an AFOL to spend the day and also help out, make friends, etc.

    And as far as your GF, don't make her hate the LEGO store or make this like a payback to going shopping with her. Drop her off at her favorite shopping place, give her some money and let her wonder around her favorite places while you hang out at the LEGO store...(c;

Haha I got really lucky with this one. We both got into it after watching the Lego Movie. She loves building new sets with me, she just doesn't understand the point in going to the store when I know exactly what they have. "We were just there yesterday!" Has been said more than once... XD

I don't, as the nearest store, the Concord Mills store in Charlotte NC, is three hours away. But in Walmart and Kmart, I often lose track of time in either the diecast cars or Lego aisle.

OP, this activity is called window shopping. Women have an innate understanding of this impulse, so you shouldn't have to explain it to your girlfriend. A silent shrug of your shoulders followed by a resigned nod from her should be all the communication you need.

Aah, yes. The classic 'When i'm in The Lego store, i'm thinking of You', line.
As long as it always remains that way round, you shouldn't have any relationship problems... otherwise... ;oP

I always come up with an excuse. My current one is, "We hear they had horses in the pick a brick so we have to keep checking because the girls really want to get some Lego horses....well yes they have 20 but these are the new style ones and they're in brown".
