Hi folks. Been reading here for about a month since re discovering Lego six weeks back when I was lucky to receive 10188 for my birthday. Fair to say I'm hooked with several sets since then and three Falcons on their way from Boots. I'll be sticking to OT Star Wars or at least trying to. Hopefully I'll be able to make some worthwhile contributions.

    Nice to meet you kevbags!

I had to look up what 10188 was (i'm better with names than numbers), and all I can say is you're a very lucky boy! I have all my friends and family on a promise to buy me that if they win the lottery but I can never persuade them to buy me lego for Xmas or birthdays (so I just ask for money then buy lego anyway :-) )

Anyway good luck with only buying SW... its a slippery slope...

Hi Kevbags! I couldn't think of a better way to start the addiction than with 10188!!

Well it was a bit of a significant birthday. Been a cancer patient for a while and was told I wouldn't see 35 so when I did it was quite a celebration!

It is the perfect hobby for me. I find the building the most enjoyable part and I can do a bit at a time. When fatigue kicks in I can just walk away and return when I'm ready.

As for other sets well the modulars are very appealing but as I've missed so many SW sets I would love, Sandcrawler etc and money is very tight I will try to be good. No promises though ;-)

    Hey!
I am originally from West Yorkshire also! Born in the area and lived there until early 20s when work took me out of the area.

    Best wishes!

Best of luck, kevbags, with everything!

But... just going to stick to star wars, eh? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA... I mean, yes of course, good idea - that's exactly what I said to myself, and I then went on to add the Prince of persia range (cos' it was all half price), Pirates of the Carribbean (couldn't ignore the hefty discount), Pharaohs Quest (got some good deals, so what they hey!), Collectable Minifigs (ouch, money sink... but they're soooo funny), some Atlantis (I had plans)... Oh and then there's the medieval market village (and village raid), ooh, mustn't forget the Emerald Night (otherwise known as Orient Express, but don't tell anyone)...plus the...

Yep... I stuck to Star Wars. It was easy. :0)

I also started out with buying only SW OT sets, I think this is a very common 'in' to this hobby.

3 years and 1,000 sets later...

Welcome kevbags, glad that you're "winning the battle"!

I didn't know there were so many "Yorkies" on the forum.... as a German born Yank... I've only ever been to Yorkshire once... to York specifically.... gotta love York Minster... largest medieval church in England... and walk the walls of medieval York... was rather disappointed that there were no longer any heads on a pike at the Micklebar Gate though.... but I digress... ;-)
