Wanted: SDCC Unikitty (Cuteskitty/Cheerkitty) - US

jadeirenejadeirene Member Posts: 474
Hi, I'm looking to complete my Unikitty collection. I was gutted to hear that there would be an exclusive Unikitty, but I'm still hopeful that I can collect her.

I'm willing to pay the lower end of Ebay prices, I just don't have time (extremely busy week at work and a baby to take care of) to watch listings and bid, so I'm hoping someone here got lucky and has a spare to sell or trade. If someone wants to trade exclusives, I have the grand opening minifigure sets from the Murray, UT or Las Vegas, NV stores to trade. I have a bunch of other sets and polybags available as well.

Thanks!

@jadeirene‌ - What price are you looking to get one for? If I stumble across an extra I'd be happy to pick it up for you as I'm constantly on eBay SDCC weekend into Tuesday.

@samiam391 - I don't know what prices they are going for (since most auctions don't end until tomorrow), so I can't really put a number on it yet. I do see buy it nows for $150, so definitely less than that. I'm hoping to get it for less than $100, but it really depends on the market.

I'd be eternally grateful if you found one for a good deal and got it for me. I trust your judgement in what would be a good deal since you're the expert on exclusive minifigures. Thank you so much for the offer.

@jadeirene‌ - "sold" auctions for this item on eBay have varied from $150 to $275(!) I don't follow these exclusive figures very much. Is this "newness" and hype/excitement driving up the price? Or will these actually appreciate in value in the coming months?

@odindusk - I think all the listings that have sold are buy it nows. The auctions won't start finishing until tomorrow. The $150-275 prices should be on the high side since the figure just came out today. Hopefully the prices will go down a bit this week.

Yes, the buy it now prices are high. Those are for the impatient people who have to have it now. If you wait a week or more the price will definitely come down, hopefully under a hundred. I'm watching about 2 pages of them right now and have bid a couple of times but am waiting to see where the price settles in before I buy.

Have there been any reports on the quantities released for the minifigures? There are heaps of sold and listed for each on eBay so it must be at least 1,000 of each?

Each minifigure at SDCC had a run of 1,750.

^Thanks! That is huge compared to the 350 or less last year. Not very much if 72,000 really attended this year. Does anyone know if the process was improved this year, I have not noticed any complaints.

I believe it's 1,500, not 1,750. Either way, quite the large increase from previous years.

This website talks about the details. fbtb.net/2014/07/21/sdcc-details-on-legos-giveaway-method-for-their-exclusive-minifigs/

It did say 1750 each, approximately.

I was able to source a Unikitty. Special thanks for @samiam391 and @oldtodd33 for offering to help me find a decent deal on one. It just goes to show how great the Brickset community could be. Thanks again and good luck to everyone else who is looking for one.
