And it's a different Green Lantern in that banner picture at the top. This one is black/green as opposed to dark green/green with muscle fibers for SDCC. Plus this one has printed legs to show the green boots. May Hal finally be arriving soon as a regular release fig?

*Sigh* looks like I'll be going to ebay to get the fig. I refuse to buy from GS anymore after the LotR preorder fiasco.

Seriously thought this was a joke when I read it, (my knowledge of DC characters beyond the famous ones / ones Lego has already done is pretty limited). The idea of a lego figure being a 'plastic man' made me chuckle.

Just done a quick search and it looks like theres not been any confirmation of how things will work / what will be on offer in the UK yet.

Thanks for the heads up @‌ Steve_J_OM

Gamestop... WHY?! Why could it not be Walmart? At least they have a chance to put the figure IN with the game there.
Instead pre-ording for the game with the figure as a gift means you MAY get it from a Gamestop. That is, from one that does not let its employees take as many as they want (to put them on eBay), give them to people that did not pre-order, or just plain got 3 for their store even though 10 people pre-ordered the game.
Guess I will need to check eBay and pay dearly for the figure and Ill just wait until the game is like 30 dollars and try to get the figure for 20 from someone that mysteriously gets 20 of them to put on eBay.
Maybe need to get a petition together or something to explain to LEGO and the game manufacturer as to why it is a bad idea for Gamestop to get exclusives to giveaway with purchase of a game (mainly because just because you pre-order from Gamestop does not mean you will get the figure)

Is it just the US where folks have had poor experience with Gamestop exclusives? I've never had a problem in Europe.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,761
I think most are in the US. Because they apparently have no concept of 10 pre-orders means 10 figures for those orders here in the US.

Ebay for sure - 15ish with shipping and I'll wait a year to get game at 19.99

This is horrendous, I'm sick of these Gamestop exclusives. I had high hopes when they didn't get an exclusive figure for Lego Marvel, but then Lego Hobbit ruined that, and now this. As someone said, a preorder doesn't guarantee you a figure, you have to preorder and show up the morning it's released, or hope you have a local store big enough to get a big allotment of these figures. Preordered the Lego Movie game one of the first days it was announced, still didn't get a Western Emmet, refused the game at pickup and demanded a refund.

    Plastic Man? Get Hype.

Gamestop, DS $30, that's £17 at current exchange rates. DS games are global, so you could probably buy it for £17, keep the figure and sell it on e-bay for £20.

I've done similar things a couple of times now (with UK suppliers). Fig usually ends up costing me a pound or two, once e-bay selling fees are taken into account. Though on the Lego movie game, I actually got the poncho Emmett and a small profit!

That is not any good. I was able to get Western Emmet last month at GameStop when they ran a promo if you bought any LEGO game you got him. I bought a used game for $2.50 and got Western Emmet free.

That is the problem. The specials should only be for pre-orders of games, but some Gamestops get few figures, some get a lot. Some hand them out for everything so when someone who pre-ordered the game thinking they are getting a figure does not.
No consistency is why Gamestop does not get my money.

I've never heard of this guy. Thought it was a joke. :))
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,459
He's one of two DC characters that have powers similar to Mr Fantastic. I think it's a great choice, this is the first game he's a playable character in, regularly teams up with Justice League and due to the nature of his powers could be used in a lot of great fun little MOC scenes.

Assuming we also get this in the UK (I don't know why we wouldn't but I've still not seen anywhere in the UK with the Vitruvius mini figure with TLM) I'll definitely order from whoever has the promotion. Always need more superheroes!
  • GeddesGeddes Member Posts: 574
Awesome :) this is why he was one of the first revealed for the game then! Uk will surely have it at game.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,459
^I'd imagine so, last few Game have had the mini figure and a DLC extra and Amazon have had just the minifigure
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
Plastic Man goes back to the 1940s. He was originally created at another company (Quality Comics) by one of the true legends of the industry, jack Cole. He is a relatively popular character - in line with the Martian man hunter among others.
  • RomanticWarriorRomanticWarrior Member Posts: 248
Very meh, but oh well. I was lukewarm on whether I would get the game. Maybe I'll wait until it's in the $20 bin.

For those curious, the pre-order bonuses by retailer are as follows:

    Amazon – LEGO Batgirl Keychain
Best Buy – LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Digital Comic Book by Comixology
GameStop – LEGO Plastic Man Minifigure
    Target – LEGO Batwing Miniset
Toys 'R' Us – LEGO The Joker Keychain
    Walmart – LEGO Tumbler Miniset

Personally, I think Target came out the best, but I'm not a fan of DC at all, so what do I know?
  • theLEGOmantheLEGOman Member Posts: 1,524
Are the mini sets not the polybags?

The UK had the Batwing and Tumbler in the paper, so could get one for under £1.

    Keyrings £2.99 from LEGO themselves.

Not sure if many people want the comic, no idea how many pages etc.

Plastic man (kind of ironic for a LEGO figure) exclusive figure is the only one that will cost more through exclusiveness on the after market, so if you fancy one its the best one to go for, not sure if anyone will have it in the UK.

He looks a bit like Elvis as well.
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,392
Yes the Tumbler and Batwing sets are the polybagged ones already in the wild, based on the pictures I have seen.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
They are the same, but I'd rather have the Batwing and get a handful of parts than Plastic Man. Now... if the minifig had been Adam West... I'd have certainly bought one off eBay.

I already purchased the Batwing polybag at Toys R' Us and the Tumbler polybag at Target. Are the keychains available at the LEGO Shop? I will probably pre-order LEGO Batman 3 for the LEGO Plastic Man minifigure at GameStop because may not be able to find that minifigure anywhere else. GameStop's pre-order bonus for the LEGO Batman 2 video game was the LEGO Lex Luthor minifigure and I haven't seen that minifigure since. So this may be the only chance to get the LEGO Plastic Man minifigure.

The reason why it is a bit hard to find is two fold I think, that he is sought after, but I think more because Gamestop's allotment of promo figures apparently never matches what actually justifies getting on (ie pre-ordering a game) you have stories of people who were not even buying the game asking if they could get the figure, and getting it. You have stores that have 10 pre-orders, but mysteriously have only 3 figures to give. then you have stores that apparently had 30 of them but no one pre-ordered, or very few pre-ordered.
I would almost rather buy the figure off of eBay for 20-25 dollars, and then just buy the game either from someone on eBay, or wait for about 6-8 months and pick it up on the cheap from Amazon.com before I give money to GS for their horrible business practices.

I had to buy my Lex off of eBay, I think I got him for about 20 at the time

I hate Gamestop with a passion, but I usually pre-order to guarantee I get a copy of the exclusive minifig. Buying on eBay from some gamestop employee (or friend of said gamestop employee) only encourages the behavior that @madforlego spoke of earlier (someone magically getting 20 copies).

I have always told myself that if I pre-order and they don't give me the fig, I will walk away and consider other options. Luckily this has not happened to me yet.

Yeah, but I though GS charges a restock fee if you decline to pick up your game.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
Yes, that is correct, though I believe that is aimed towards people who never show up. In any case, if I was in the store and they tried to levy such a fine, they would either relent due to not following through (order incomplete), or they would be getting a chargeback from my credit card company of said fine.

I stopped into my Gamestop today to pre-order the Batman 3 and they told me to wait. Apparently it's not due out until next year. According to their records online it was slated as a "supposed" release date of Quarter 1 next year. I was hoping for a fall release.
Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else...but there's also a Lego Ninjago Nindroids game pre-order...but it's only available on 3DS/handhelds for a keychain.
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,392
When I preordered my copy in store I was told the release date was 1/1/2015.

We may not get him as a physical minifigure, but Adam West's Batman is going to be a playable character in the new game

I think this is a poorly done Plastic Man. He doesn't have anything that suggests that he can stretch into different things and his hair looks like Superman's which it definitely doesn't in the comics. If I hadn't been told that that was Plastic Man I probably would never have known who he was by looking at him. And why Plastic Man in the first place?

I do like the Adam West Batman and that would be cool if they made him.

Just checking but for the last Batman Game release was their an exclusive figure with the PC version if pre-ordered? Just I see the PC version is mightily cheaper than the PS3 version which is the one I need to get (also need to find a cheap copy of the original game for PS3)

My brother said that they were reporting that you get the plastic man figure if you pre-order at the store, and now GS is advertising the Plastic man on their site if you pre-order.

The other thing I'm liking is if I order to ship to my address (instead of pickup) you are apparently guaranteed a plastic man, as opposed to the store where you roll the dice (do not remember if this was this way in previous giveaways)
It is 3.50 for shipping and up to tens days wait time, but I may decide against my GS ban and order it online anyway just to guarantee the figure will be in my hands.
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
^ I ordered online with shipping to home for the last two promos. Note that I got the Lex promo but I did not get the Elrond one. (At least at first: I emailed to complain and they sent one in the mail. While I was waiting for a response I stopped in to a store and complained and they handed me one.)

That is discouraging to hear that this occurs even when it should definitely be with the pre-ordered game via mail. but unfortunately not surprising when it comes to GS> Thanks for the warning.
At least it sounds like they fixed it. I know when I did 'to pickup at store' for LEGO PoTC I did not get the Sparrow figure and I emailed them to complain they offered me no such figure. Maybe they learned enough to know that they need to at least honor the deal if they sent it from the factory.
