That explains it! They've installed your bionic finger again so you can refresh faster than anyone else. I knew you had a secret weapon :)

Wow - I just looked up The Collector on eBay - SO MANY OF THEM. It begs the question with me: why would LEGO continue do release these exclusives if a huge portion are immediately just sold for profit.

It can't JUST be for publicity. I mean, their movie did do pretty well.

I think it is the fact that a figure such as this is "EXCLUSIVE" that doesn't make sense to me. If it were a "preview figure in special packaging," meaning SDCC people can get it 3 months early, and in exclusive SDCC packaging, THAT would make sense to me. There is "collector value," in it, but others will soon have a chance to have this figure in their collection.

But what is the value of making the character exclusive when they know it just becomes a $300 aftermarket item?

Sorry if this is ranty or whiny, I really am just trying to understand the logic.
    Thanks everyone.

This isn't a totally important detail, but keep in mind that minifigures and other exclusives aren't always sold "for profit". Some people do it to help recoup their losses from buying Comic-Con tickets, plane tickets, etc. in the first place. So it shouldn't all be seen as people using Comic-Con as an opportunity for easy money.

I think I will sell my Barb Bowmen here to a fellow Bricksetter followings this discussion for $100 shipped domestically in case anyone is interested. Like this if you do and you will be entered in a drawing using your like position. Someone give me a fair public way to pick a number between 1-?.

The caveat is the case is a little dinged.

@Aanchir Thanks for the added context. I don't particularly mind that people flip these for a profit, regardless of their reason. I just wonder - from LEGO's perspective - why this type of thing makes sense for them. EG: if they gave 100 kids a special experience with characters, access to something cool, etc - again, I can see the value because it is creating an experience for kids. But throwing products into the market that:

    1. Will immediately become aftermarket fodder above $100 for a minifig
    2. Make regular fans (millions of them) envious that they can never access these minifigs.

^ I heard that set is going to be $10 USD which is good. I thought it was going to be a Comic Con exclusive.

This is annoying, there's not one seller that may have a decent price that doesn't use that shitty global shipping program.

This has to be one of the biggest scams going. I will not purchase from anyone who sells with this. Most of those charges are already incorporated in the shipping charges. It's an additional 15% fee added. It literally kills international sales.

There are suppose to be 1750 of each is what I read. The only difference is that they are all being unloaded on a specific day opposed to last year when they were spread out over multiple days. That's the reasoning you are seeing so many on one day I think.

I used the GPS for a number of months. Then the number of messages from internationals telling me the system was crap started adding up fast. They told me what they were charging and it was absolutely ridiculous. I've almost completely dropped the GPS since then as a system that is essentially ripping off people.

20 years ago if you said 'I got into SDCC' to a group of people, many would laugh and go 'big deal, Did you have to open the door?"
SDCC is attended by people from all over the world, not just the US, How bad people want to go is your real question.
Sadly, all this is now is a giant PR campaign for Hollywood and its stars to get their ego stroked and for toy/game/comic manufacturers to give out impossibly hard to get promos for people to try to trample each other over. It is not what it was intended to be anymore, and sadly nothing more than a status symbol for people to lord over others.

While 'not profit', it certainly saves money for those going to con simply to get exclusives that they are not fans for but simply grabbing what they can to sell off to pay their tickets off... Call it credit, rebate, profit.. whatever, they still are coming out more ahead than those who just bought a ticket to go to the Con (and those who bought a ticket to try to get the exclusives for themselves).
My issue is they are likely not fans who want the figure, but want to grab one so they can sell it to someone that does.

In any case, i get it is in the eye of the beholder, but I see @brickupdate‌'s point. LEGO is theoretically doing this for FANs of LEGO and of the promo itself. not some toy hunter/reseller that just wants to pay off their con tickets.
Also doing LEGO Movie stuff as exclusives is a bit mean spirited of LEGO IMO, considering how many fans of the movie, and the kitty there are

@Adzbadboy sorry but it already sold on ebay and the Gf is claiming the proceeds as vacation money. But she deserved it really for the sheer hours sitting around in line. And it's quite hot to say the least lol

Pretty happy I got mine! I was really worried when I saw the line. It went back hundreds and hundreds of people... I dragged my girlfriend and our friend just in case, and luckily we managed to get two.

Lego Batman 75th comic. Sorry about the quality of the photos and if this was mentioned elsewhere. These were given out at the Lego booth free. It doesn't say SDCC Exclusive from what I can tell. The book is printed on thick paper stock and no ads.

eBay prices for the collector are dropping, but the cheapest BIN price is still about £175 to the UK all in with postage, (that particular listing isn't using the global *get more money out of you* programme). If they come down to about £120 all in then I think I'll be tempted. Fingers crossed

The Collector and Batman for me. The Batmobile is a nice set, but I wouldnt pay for than £25 for it, (which it will never reach) as the figures are standard. I like the Rocket figure, but as there seems to be a lot of talk about it coming out in a standard set at some point I think I'll pass on the SDCC set.

As for the exclusive sets, I find actually emailing the people selling them and trying to bargain deals than just paying the list pricing works for me. I was able to get my Collector this route this year and I got a pretty good deal.

I struggle with the GPS as I am in Canada and I just do not have enough KY to ease the pain. I will only purchase from people who do not use that program. You just have to be patient and put some "leg work" in and you will be able to come to some kind of a compromise. We also have to realize that there are only a certain number of these, so no matter how bad we want then and how much money is being charge for such a small item you still have to come to terms that these are in demand (hard to find / limited) so you will have to spend more than normal.

Someone offered me $225 for The Collector. If I can get him to take $200, do I buy it? Or do you guys recommend waiting for the prices to drop?

In my opinion $225.00 is a good price. I would take it.

I'm sure these will reach ~$100 soon... They are nowhere near as desirable as the older ones. Just the hype of the moment, I wouldn't jump on it anywhere over $130.

People don't take $200 for the collector... I will raffle a Collector for less here than that. Use that as leverage in negotiations.

@BrickDancer - That should separate the wheat from the chaff then!

So far I have had some success. I picked up a Bard the Bowman for just $70 yesterday morning on a 'best offer' deal. The asking price was $130, but my cheeky offer was accepted, although the postage is quite expensive to the UK. Other than that, I have been beaten on two Collector Minifigure auctions and am watching a few others.

    @samiam391‌ - Swings and roundabouts I suppose.

What does everybody think of this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/San-Diego-Comic-Con-Exclusive-2014-Lego-Batman-Of-Zurr-en-arrh-Mini-Figure-/161378037127?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item2592e16d87 At the moment the price is low when compared with others (though that could change), but the seller has almost no feedback. I am tempted, but it would be taking a risk.

Three new Mixels have been revealed at Comic-Con!

    41529 Nurp-Naut
    41532 Burnard
    41533 Globert

Burnard and Globert look like they could belong to existing tribes (Infernites and Wiztastics, respectively), but hard to tell what's up with Nurp-Naut. He's got some wacky colors for sure.

Clever things are being done with the eyes — Nurp-Naut has a new half-closed eye print on a 2x2 round tile, Burnard has this year's ball joint eyes inside 2x2 inverted domes, while Globert has a 4x4 glowing dish with a printed 2x2 round tile as the pupil!

The wave that includes these three is launching February 2015. Price remains $4.99.

There is almost no risk in purchasing from ebay as long as paypal as involved. The worst case is that you wait a few days to get your money back (which you almost certainly will) and buy another. Only a problem if you really need your money but you're spending a fair wack on what is essentially a toy so id say its not an issue!

Unikitty isn't getting near as much interest on eBay it seems. Prices and number of watchers are much lower. I just saw 3 go for $150 and passed on them all.

I'm kind of disappointed I haven't heard anything yet about how this morning's LEGO Legends of Chima panel went, and whether any cool behind-the-scenes info got revealed. But I guess most of the people who went to that are still busy attending other panels...

Only thing better than getting Kitty? Getting 2 Kitty's at one time!!

Hooray for a double score again!

The Gf's Unikitty collection just got a bit bigger with these 2 variants. Considering it comes with 2 separate faces so can be split if there's a spare body & tail handy.
