Part numbers on Bricklink

malachirobertsonmalachirobertson Member Posts: 268
Is there some kind of system behind the part numbers on Bricklink? I need to find some specific parts for a modification. I don't particularly know what sets they might appear in. If I had the part number, I could look them up that way.
Thanks.

The numbers on BL are often the actual part numbers.

If you know what the parts look like (e.g. brick, plate, slope, etc.) but don't know their part numbers, it would probably be easiest to find them that way. If you can describe the parts, I'm sure someone here could find them for you.
