Good evening!

Hi all, I just wanted to introduce myself to you all. I just came out of the "dark ages" as everyone seems to call this shared phenomena. My parents are moving out of the house I grew up in and called me up asking what they should do with all of my old Lego. I thought it had already been passed on to younger cousins of mine decades ago, but now that I have a three year old, heck, send them to me!! Welp, now I'm hooked again. Some friends directed me to Brickset, and here I am. I'm having a blast whipping up mixel max MOC's. And I'm looking forward to other community events, not to mention what my kids are going to do with this fond hobby. I'm a newbie in terms of all the Lego fan acronyms, so I may lurk mostly before getting too adventurous. But here's my flickr in case anyone wanted to see what I've done for the series 2 mixels competition.

Thank you for being here!

Thanks! I do not recall a lot of creativity with lego when I was growing up. Always follow the instuctions and play with the set as is. I had a few city and space sets, nothing too extravagant (with the exception of the monorail 6990), but I was never encouraged to go beyond the manual.

Regardless, Huw, your site is phenomenal, thank you!

I cam out of the dark age a year ago, when my daughter was 6 and son 3. I was stunned at the changes in Lego.

That is awesome that you have your old bricks. Mom my sold mine at a yard sale for $10 years ago. :(

Heh, tell me about it. They feel lighter/cheaper, and the yellow minifig faces looks off, with more green in it or something. But the set designs, angles, and inclusion of technic stuff for the various structural stuff brings a smile to my face! Plus the huge variety and separate mini fig / poly bags !! Lots of fun!

Welcome to the forums @Dedgecko :D I like your Mixel MOCs ;)

Your lucky to have monorail if you still have it, they do for quite a bit these
    Days.

Still got it, though I tossed the box, it looked like there was some water damage wherever my parents were keeping it. It and some of the older manuals from my late 80's sets had to be tossed :( but in the end I don't think I would ever sell it. Runs great still! Only had the original track, thought of getting some more, but our residence doesn't support a sprawling Bricksburg/Lego City.
