I would like a feature to "save" specific posts.

We have the capability for topics but sometimes I just want a single post within a topic.
For example, someone earlier posted about a AFOL Brickset Google map for where people are from, but now I can't find the thread it was in as it was under some other topic.

Would it be possible to have a sticky thread of commonly used terms and initials? (The word currently escapes me). I know you can find lists of them on other sites but people often ask about [email protected], TRU and perhaps others that are more collecting/buying specific.

Maybe for the star wars make a separate subtheme for episode 4 5 6 also you can be able to "like" or "dislike" sets and stuff like that

Some way up this thread are a couple of comments about the set availability dates disappearing from the left hand column information on each set and now being available only if you click on the 'Buy' tab. I'd like to see it restored to the left hand column if possible.

I'd also like to see boxed weight listed somewhere on each set as that would help with determining shipping costs on trades and sales without having to pull the box out of storage ahead of agreeing a deal.

Sorry to raise this again, but I just had an idea and wanted to share it.
It just occurred to me that a good categorisation of topics might include a section for "new releases" and one for "Set discontinuations".

^ These would likely qualify as subtopics and IMO would get pretty confusing when new sets are no longer new. Additionally, I'm what they call a lumper taxonomically speaking so I generally push for fewer groupings.

This may have been mentioned above but there is too much to read through to check. Can we have country intials (USA, GB etc) or maybe even a little flag next to the posters name. I think it would make some posts a lot clearer when the poster doesn't mention the country or it's not immediately obvious. Just my 1p's worth!

+1 from me on this - particularly given that people often post messages in the wrong sub-forum, it'd be useful to be able to quickly tell where the poster is located.

Since Sunday morning, glad you like 'em.

The reason for the change is to be able to add more image galleries. Thomas Main has kindly sent me Gbs of scans of boxes and I intend to scan the cover and other relevant pages from all my thousands of instructions. I'll be creating a new tab to hold these, and also possibly, another one for user contributed images.

I've just noticed that the pop-up image window thingy doesn't respond to the arrow keys to move between the images as it should, probably beacuse the tab content is Ajax-ed in. Not sure if I can fix but I'll have a look.

^ I do like it in IE and FF, but it doesn't look great in Chrome, I've attached a screenshot so hopefully you can see what I mean, it has an extra frame around the tabs and also the tabs are forced onto a second row, this doesn't happen in the other browsers.

@huw if I understand correctly you may be able to use http://api.jquery.com/live/
You can basically attach a click handler to a selector, and it will automatically add it to new elements that match that selector, even if loaded in via ajax.

@atkinsar, try Ctrl-F5 to force refresh of the stylesheet. Although I attempt to force it to be reloaded in the code when I make significant changes, some browsers seem more stubborn than others.

I'm fairly sure the tabs don't go onto a second row in Chrome for me but I will check later.

@ljames28, the Highslide library I use isn't jQuery based and handles all that side of it, I haven't had to delve into it much, but I may have to :-(

^ I do plan to provide that, a means of seeing all your data in the ACM in a single table. There were performance problems with it last time I tried if you had 1000s of sets so I shelved it.

I'd love to see an alert system added to Themes (or just sets individually).

I love the RSS feed of new products, but I wish there was a way of filtering though it. It's great seeing how many people want a product, good to know I'm not alone and I'm happy about adding it to my want list, but if there was a way of seeing 'recent updates' to my want list (generated individually) or 'recent changes' to Themes (generated abroad, across the site) I'd have a much better chance at knowing when things are finally available--and this primarily pertains to polybags; it's so hard to keep track of those things.

It's a matter of logging changes to entries, and making that transparent on a members side, always easier said than done--but that's what I'd like to see.

And perhaps it's already here and I just haven't found it... Yes?

@mr_carl_lee, thanks for the suggestion. Let's thrash this out a bit more when I've finished the advanced query builder (http://www.brickset.com/search/advanced/) which, I guess, could be used to generate custom RSS feeds and therefore meet this requirement too.

So An Idea I had was in the Market place to separate it by region or country. I hate finding out that I found an Item I want and its not in the US, so now I have to pay overseas shipping. I was thinking like an area for everyone who sells or trades world wide then an area for the UK and one for the US. That way we can keep it close to home if we want.

^ The alternative is to just make sure all marketplace posts have (UK only), (US only), (Germany only), (Worldwide), etc in the title.

Of course, it is easy to forget to add it (I'm guilty here), and would be useful if you could edit the title once posted.

Is there a way to temporarily hide the "I own" marking?
I sometimes use brickset with my kids and they've caught on to looking at that field.
It opens me up to some intense questioning. :)
I'd hate to have to open a second, secret, account and try to keep them in sync.

@dsdg88 THAT would be a great idea lol, then I wouldn't have to explain to my kids (who aren't with me presently, butr fighting for them) why they only have the smaller sets and one or two large ones while mommy has all the big sets :/

It has gotten easier as they've become used to the idea that these sets are in the house, but they have to wait for a birthday or other gift occasion. And some--very few--are mine.

Even if there was a "hidden" brickset option, when we go to a store I've had to come clean and say, "we have that one" fairly often. As a result I've started to open my own in-house store to them (with prices usually 30% off retail!).

Still, I recently unmarked the DS--that one will remain secret until Santa brings it some Christmas. Which reminds me, if they've seen a set as "I own" and then they get it from Santa, then I've got some explaining to do.

When did the emails stop including the content of the post? Anyone else noticed this?

This stopped a long time ago but I was hoping the change was temporary. Is that feature gone for good and emails will never again contain content?

^ +100 to it as well but it's not possible within the confines of the VF framework, althugh I guess a client-side solution should be, similar to those awful scripts that highlight certain words at some sites and pop up ads when you hover over them.

It would just need to parse all text on the page for a regular expression to match #<set number with optional suffix> e.g. #6876 or #6876-1 and replace it with a hyperlink to the search script at Brickset.

Edit: or rather, change the hyperlink that is created already!

I'm not sure if the above comments express what I'm going to say but I would love a direct link to a set page when someone types in a set number in a post. So it would save me some time without having to go to the homepage, search it up and go back to the forum. Or it could be little "popup" where you can preview the set image and such in a little box if you hover over the #. Just my 2 cents. :)

^So right now if you type in a set number with a hash tag, like #8084-1, the forum software will automatically convert that to hyperlink, as you can see in this post. That link is to search the forums for that term. This is what the hash tag does in the forum software. You could use it with anything, like #jQuery Since the forum software is third party, you can't really change that behavior. However, the script I put together above can hopefully be added to pages on the site. It's designed to find those automatically created links and change them so that they go to the set page in the Brickset database instead of a search page in the forum. It would only change the ones that refer to set numbers. If everything works as planned, when @Huw adds the script you'll get what you're asking for :)

Yep, that works, thanks @brickmatic. I had to add an additional replace to the return statements:
