xxxxxxx xxxxx?! I was hoping for a set like this. Rather than buying the £18 dragons prison just for the mounted dragon knight...

Wait, is this some kind of joke? Sorry but I'd be all too happy if Lego re-made a xxxxxxx xxxxx ... which is exactly why I can't believe it. My too passions in life are Lego and History (just look at my username!), so obviously WWI's xxxxxxx xxxxx has got my number!

I just read on eurobricks about the set numbers, and hadn't realised that the '10...' designation meant something beyond a bog-standard set (think MMV or modulars). In that case HUGELY intrigued at to what the xxxxxxx'x xxxxx could involve!!!
  • bluemoosebluemoose Member Posts: 1,716
A '10xxx' set number indicates that the set has been designed by LEGOs 'Direct' (as in 'Direct to Consumer') team; they are nominally LEGO Store (online & physical) exclusives, but LEGOs Marketing folk seem to like selling them onto some of the bigger retailers these days, so they eventually pop up on TRUs web site, on Amazon, etc.
  • rocaorocao Administrator Posts: 4,290
^ Is it a separate team of designers or is just a designation given to a set?
  • bluemoosebluemoose Member Posts: 1,716
I don't think 'Direct' have their own set design team; AFAIK 'Direct' come up with the set idea, price point, design brief (i.e. any interactive elements, number of figs), etc., then commission designers from the other teams to do the detailed set development work (set design, fig design, graphics for any stickers, box design, instructions, etc.)

The JXXXX sounds awesome doesn't it, particularly if it's like MMV, and good old RX-XX could be pretty cool, too. The X-XXXX will almost certainly be a UCS model. Not fussed about the CXXXX, as someone else has pointed out we've had one before. Why didn't they pick a different aXXXXXX I wonder?

    :-)

I guess that the list of 5 probably included all of the Exclusives that'll be released in 2012. No wonder LEGO were p????? off that it got out so soon...
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,001
This reminds me of the simpsons episode where they bleep out marge even though she's not actually swearing... :p

The question remains, when certain sets seem to leak out so easily how the XXXXX did no-one know about the marvel/dc stuff until it was pretty much public??!

@Huw - That' pretty rebellious for you. ;op

^^ Probably because this disclosure was, AFAIK, from a retailer, and not the launch of a new range. Much easier to keep secrets if it's in-house.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
@Huw - re: *all* of the Exclusives - - then that would mean no Super Heroes exclusive for the first year.
  • pantenkindpantenkind Member Posts: 258
I think they should punish the community by releasing these sets now and coming up with different unleaked sets for 2012. That would show us!

[You knew that would get removed, so why did you post it? - @Matthew :-)]
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,001
I'm still confused by the nature of an 'exclusive'. I thought this meant a s@h only product (or at least at first). What exactly is an 'exclusive' if it's being sold by other retail sites?

A-ha, just got it! (edit - thanks!)

The CXXXX would indeed be a strange choice, unless its a larger scale one, like a creator, or even as big as the VWs - if so it might be interesting, but still, why repeat things?
We've already had a Txxx xxxx as well, albeit as part of another set. Could be nice if it's on a large scale though - I'd imagine this could be the biggest one so far in that range, which would be good to see, and there's a lot of scope for some interesting design features, there are tons of great MoCs of these for TLG to draw from.
We're already had a Jxxxx as well, so not sure what's going on. Are they running out of ideas?

Nice kind of paranoia from both sides as TLC and mainly Brickset. Eric Arthur Blair will not be very pleased seeing this. What can I read, and still can be found on the internet, are sets, except star wars, with regular names that are used every day.

There is no paranoia on the Brickset side. We are just trying to support a direct request from TLG.

My friend psychiatrist call this paranoia.Banned sets number and watermarked pictures are ok, also some non regular star wars names. This makes admins in another forums. But clues? This behavior can seriously scare some lego fans here and they will not return back. Please be aware of that.We have some nice proverb in Czech Republic-You are more pope than pope himself. In this case I mean, Brickset are more TLC lawyer, than TLC lawyer himself...

Please not be so cruel to us.Or erase every discussion about new sets for this year and only introduce they on release days...

Brickset has little to lose by 'playing nice' with LEGO's request's and more to gain. The way I see Brickset's place in the universe is they have more lose from p.. err upsetting LEGO than they could ever gain. If you want to find the 'purported' list of Exclusive sets, even now after they've been removed here, it's quite possible to do, I did so in under 5 minutes and wasn't trying REAL hard either.... I'm quite pleased at the prospect of one of the 'purported' sets, it confirms rumors from elsewhere (note my user name if you've seen the list and are curious).
I respect and agree with 'managements' decision to take the info down, it's just the right thing to do and I don't see it 'scaring' off readers here, if it does that then they SHOULDN'T be on the internet. Now i can see folks that missed the info being disappointed about it being gone? sure! But it's NOT hard to find, it's VERY hard to as I saw else where to 'put the genie back in the bottle' as it were.

@Ondra - My good friend Microsoft Word likes to define paranoia one of two ways:
Firstly: “Distrust - Extreme and unreasonable suspicion of other people and their motives.”
Secondly: “Psychiatric Disorder – a psychiatric disorder involving systematized delusion, usually of persecution.”

Well, there you (and I’m sure it’s only you) have it. This topic contained leaked information and was removed (censored) by the request of the Lego Group. Jokingly, since many had seen the list already due to its original source, small teasers were posted after the censorship. Given the hype (not paranoia) surrounding Lego exclusives many fans dislike the decision (always by Lego) to remove leaked information. Nobody tries to go overboard because we’re all fans simply trying to obey the rules here on brickset. Again, the censorship came after many had posted when the information was still thought to be “legit” so no one is at fault. Many did indeed see the list and (from what I’ve heard) posted it elsewhere.
