I've watched the Lego movie a few times since it's release and I wondered whether there would be more sets released. The confirmation last week at SDCC made me wonder what sets may come out. The submarine? Or how about the monorail!! Whenever I see the movie scenes with the monorail I can't help but think that they're going to release one very soon.... What does everyone think? It would be ......... awesome!

I would expect at least one more vehicle from the rebellion scene, either a Larry the Barista or Mrs Scratchenpost. Anyone else noticed the large amount of frogs climbing the buildings in that sequence...they don't seem eye catching enough to warrant a set, but there's quite a few of them.

I'd love for them to do the pig drawn car from the western chase...even if it does just look like a wooden Delorean concept.
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say Batmobile/Batwing would be awesome, the ones in TLM had a very unique look.

As much as I'd love the sub I can't see it happening...it would either have to be a huge set or be massively disappointing. I hope for more Cloud Cuckoo land though, but aside from the sub and the dog I can't image what else they could do, apart from another version of what they've already put out.

I don't know why, but I was half expecting Lincoln's rocket chair to be a SDCC mini set-like poly bag sized.
  • msandersmsanders Member Posts: 1,017
Oh, yes, I love some of your suggestions - pig-drawn carriage, bat mobile etc. there are some images of the submarine, but they are huge!
  • jediami65jediami65 Member Posts: 474
I would prefer the Batwing/Batmobile from the movies.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
My vote is for the batmobile. If they made the sub that would be crazy, but I never thought they'd make Metalbeards ship and have a $250 set for the movie theme but they proved me wrong there.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,634
I would guess that with Batman already in a smaller lego movie set they won't be putting him in a bat vehicle set as well all outside of the superheroes branding.
  • CurvedRoadPlateCurvedRoadPlate Member Posts: 257
Sales of the Movie theme seem good. I could imagine the 1st wave staying in stores for awhile.
In the Friends line initial offerings like Olivia's house are still in stores due to good sales

I would hope for something else cloud Cuckoo land would be great but I would definitely want Michaelangelo with it.....maybe a scene from inside the Dog with Lincoln's rocket chair

That might be a possibility, actually. Forgive me for not remembering where, but I recall reading somewhere that they were prepping a new Modular set for January, and that is when the new Lego Movie set(s) will come out, AND Emmet's apartment was definitely designed with modulars in mind. I would be thrilled if that turns out to be true.

I'd like to see something from the western scene, maybe the saloon with some Super Secret Police to attack?

New set rumor: Legends of Chima is headed underwater in 2015 with shark, mantra ray, octopus, and lobster tribes.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
@Bumblepants‌ - when I first saw Chima sets if you'd told me I'd be excited to hear Chima rumours I'd have thought you were having a laugh. I can't believe how much Chima has grown on me.

If that rumour is true I'm looking forward to seeing those tribes, octopus in particularly is sticking out to me.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,634
Full disclosure, I might have started this rumor after a conversation with my four year old son. It seems like a good twist on underwater sets which have been absent for a number of years though. Plus a chance for a Zoidburg minifig

I hadn't even thought of that. Definitely a nice idea, I'd really like more nomad characters like Furty and Skinnet. Maybe a dolphin and a shellfish of some kind for aquatic nomads?

New set rumor: Legends of Chima is headed underwater in 2015 with shark, mantra ray, octopus, and lobster tribes.

If it is true, it will be interesting to see the parts used. Shark, manta and lobster minifigs were done in Atlantis (some of my favourite non-human minifigs) not so long ago, so I wonder if it will be reprints of the same parts, or new ones.
  • bobabricksbobabricks Member Posts: 1,842
@CCC Most likely new molds, at least for sure on the lobster and shark because all of the Chima minifigs have helmet heads instead of modified heads.

    ??

both the shark and mantas were helmet heads also.

but i agree, however think it will just be a re-jig with a paint job
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
The shark was a molded head, but the manta and hammerhead (shark) were regular heads.

No doubt the chima ones will have "battle damage" (scratches, etc) on their faces as normal.

Everyone is discussing that, but did no-one notice that he said "Full disclosure, I might have started this rumor after a conversation with my four year old son"

^ Understood, but it is a good idea really. They already created some of those creatures, so why not reuse and add some to it. I say, it might be enough to actually get my kid interested in Chima. He was one of the few that really liked Atlantis. ;-) I think the ocean creatures would actually do better in Chima than Atlantis. (I will say, though, that this summer Chima release is the first release I have seen that my son has shown any interest in. They have some really cool sets this go around.)

While we're making stuff up, I'd like to add: When are we going to get a proper CHiPs motorcycle? How many iterations of police will it take before Erik Estrada finally rides again... in Lego style.

...That'd be one helluva feel-good TV reboot, starring Matt Leblanc as Joey Tribiani as New Ponch (with Eric Estrada playing his dad, now promoted to chief). Played for laughs, bad acting on purpose, boom & camera operators getting hit by cars, obvious stunt doubles seen onscreen at the same time as their actors, with a cameo appearance of David Rasche's Sledge Hammer... trust me, i know what i'm doing. A show so bad, it'd be huge. :o)

Two more rumored sets (per ToysnBricks, per Eurobricks) from the Creator line that may be of particular interest:
    49.99 – Beach Hut
    69.99 – Toy & Grocery Shop

My guess is the latter set will be similar to the "mini Modular" bike shop we got this year. Nice to see the price point go down though one wonders about the level of detail and size.

As for the beach hut, I just think it is a nice change of pace and will go well with some of the other vacation homes from the Creator line :).

Sooo... Adam West... Love that tv series, so annoying that they never got the legal bumf sorted out for a dvd release.

Can you explain it please? BTW I liked it as well but it was confusing my little braincell

Note those prices are NZD. US prices will be closer to $30 and $50, so apparently not as large as the Bike Shop and Café.

Also, there is a Swiss shop with a list of upcoming sets that matches what has already been leaked. Set names are in German, so if anyone here is fluent, it would help.

The obvious things are two Architecture sets: Flatiron Building and Lincoln Memorial. There are also some set names that suggest the Elves theme rumored on EB.

It sounds like the rumored elf theme is more likely a Friends-style faerie/magical theme:
    $9.99: Aira's Creative Workshop
$14.99: Farran & The Crystal Hollow
    $19.99: Naida's Spa Secret
$29.99: Azari & The Magic Bakery
    $59.99: Treetop Hideaway

Yep! I'm excited because I've been saying for a while that the LEGO Group's next foray into girl-oriented sets should be an in-house fantasy theme. Hopefully this one will meet my expectations! Some aspects of it still feel a bit leisurely/domestic rather than adventurous (the same thing that bothered me about so many of the Disney Princess sets), but all of the set names have a sense of magic that will hopefully be just as evident throughout the designs and storytelling.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,634
I really hope those are in-house and not taken from the Disney Fairy/Tinkerbell toyline. Don't have enough knowledge of those characters names to know if they are the same or not.

Treehouse, bakery, spa and workshop. Sounds awfully familiar to the friends range. Maybe the crystal hollow is where they wash up the dirty glasses?

Nope, no connection, as far as I can tell from a quick check of Disney Fairies on Wikipedia.

@Bumblepants, googling Disney Fairy and those names, I am not yielding anything at this time.

Aanchir, I'm going in with reservations on this. The sense of magic is good. At the same time, my daughter has read about every fantasy set of book under the sun, and 'spa' and fantasy adventure just simply do not go in the same sentence.

When look at the set names, I'm getting more of a Rainbow Magic Fairy sort of vibe, although again the names do not correspond with those books. Those fairy books, though, are/were crazy popular with younger girls, so yes, I could really see them taking elements of that theme and building something in-house. Those fairies range from pet fairies to party fairies to sport fairies to dance fairies. I could see a similar theme here with elves or fairies, where they enjoy more of the same interests Friends, Princess or Neverland Fairies do. If so, then it is geared more of a geared towards the younger girl element, so 9 and under. (The Rainbow Magic book phase hits those kids from prek - 3rd...so 9 and under target market makes sense.)

If they can capitalize on that, and hit that mark, it will do very well with that younger age range. If it is that direction, for our family it is simply not the sort of fantasy set we are looking for, since there is a wide difference between that and something like Percy Jackson, HP, etc. At the same time I will be happy to see a new line, and hopefully there are some sets we can just simply repurpose.
The Crystal Hollow and Treetop Hideaway sound like potentially the best choices, but the price range is really on the low side for what I would like for those particular names. ;-)

Excited for more Agents and Princesses, will reserve all judgement on "Elves" until we see pics. Re "Spa"; is that the official name or an unofficial translation of the German?

Edit - Friends lighthouse, hot air balloon another house and pizzeria and salon sound cool (though some similarities to previous sets obviously) and I like the sound of some of the Creator sets too.

Believe me, I'm also not going to start pouring praises on this new theme until I see the designs and maybe some of the marketing materials. It's definitely showing more slice-of-life play than adventure play from the names we've seen. But at the same time, I don't entirely mind that, since that helps set it apart from themes like LEGO Castle that are sorely lacking in slice-of-life play. Can you believe there's never been a non-licensed LEGO castle with a master bedroom, a kitchen, or a banquet hall? I loved reading David Macaulay's "Castle" when I was a kid, and something that always struck me as lacking in LEGO Castle sets was that they seemed to treat a castle purely as a military or governmental stronghold, and ignored that they were also meant to be a home and sanctuary for their inhabitants.

Furthermore, there's definitely room for the theme to start out with "safe" slice-of-life play scenarios and later delve into adventure play scenarios, as LEGO Friends has done this year. Even the Harry Potter theme had a balance between those things: in the first year of sets, only three of the eleven sets ( #4702, #4704, and #4706 ) focused specifically on adventure play scenarios, while the others were all more slice-of-life. But later sets put a greater emphasis on adventure play.

Not really, since I had heard that some of the stickers and the mobile game hinted at another villain pulling the strings behind the scenes.

What surprises me more is that there are ELEVEN new Ninjago sets! For just the first wave! Glad to see that theme is firmly back on its feet.

    That does surprise me.
What we would really love to see back is any theme with some cool monsters. we came in at the tail end of Power Miner, and only have a few sets. The rock creatures, though, still get a TON of play here.
I'm read for more power miner/rock raider, or space with huge cool monsters and aliens.

Re "Spa"; is that the official name or an unofficial translation of the German?

I believe it was from the NZ list.

Here are the set names Google-translated from German:
    #41072 Naidas mysterious source
    #41073 Naidas adventure ship
    #41074 Azari u.die Magi.Bäckerei
    #41075 The mystical elves hiding
#41076 Farran and the Crystal Cave

And here is the list from NZ (possibly not in the same order as the above):
    Aira's Creative Workshop
    Farran & The Crystal Hollow
    Naida's Spa Secret
    Azari & The Magic Bakery
    Treetop Hideaway
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Now that is quite the interesting difference...

  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
Apologies for the number of posts about this, but I see the problem now. There are six sets in the German list but only five in the NZ list. And I think some of the speculators on EB may have mismatched the set numbers.

    I believe this is correct:
    #41071 Aria's Creative Workshop (Kreativwerkstatt) - $9.99
    #41072 Naida's Spa Secret (geheimnisvolle Quelle) - $19.99
    #41073 Naida's Adventure Ship (Abenteuerschiff) - ?
    #41074 Azari's & The Magic Bakery (u.die Magi.Bäckerei) - $29.99
#41075 Treetop Hideaway (Das mystische Elfenversteck) - $59.99
#41076 Farran & the Crystal Hollow (und die Kristallhöhle) - $14.99

After looking at alternate translations, the names match pretty much exactly. The only one that doesn't is Treetop Hideaway, which in the German name has a reference to elves that isn't present in the English name. This isn't a surprise, though; I have German catalogs from the 80s where the set names translate to something quite different than the English set names.
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
I just mentioned this on the main page, but these 'Elves' sets seem to me like they could be repurposed sets intended for a Disney Fairies theme (it seems the movies and franchise are being discontinued next year), especially since they are Friends-style minidolls. Aria could be Tinkerbell, and Naida could be the Pirate Fairy (forget her names). Seems a possibility to me at least.
