Is anyone else surprised Ultra Agents is getting a second wave? I thought for sure it would be one and done. I was also hoping for a new Space theme but that doesn't look likely.

I was pretty much expecting it after seeing in the app and some of the sets alluding to a mysterious 'cloaked figure.' I guess they kind of had to bring resolution to that one.

Every time I see the Elves theme mentioned, I keep thinking about the 1989 film with Dan "Grizzly Adams" Haggerty.
(If anyone knows what I'm talking about, we're automatically friends. We can go to a support group together.)

I think the Agents could get a little more creative with the villians. A cloaked villain with a hologram head or something like that would be awesome.

Just saw the news (a bit late to it) about elves.

Excitement (thinking its a pseudo-castle 'what we didn't do with castle/lotr but now fancy having a go at') turned to inner reflection, upon noticing it's rumoured to be a Friends spin-off/mini dolls/potentially disney fairies if they option it.

I'm sure this will be a really popular range, which is great. But for me, as a minifig person, I was a bit disappointed we weren't to get any disney princesses minifigs (would still be a great CMF range). So will now be waiting to see what potential (if any) for repurposing any builds to something more fantasy-gritty. Might they be too cutesy? Too pink? Too Disney? Selfish me hopes not, but i can more than understand if they are, as cutesy, pastel, disneyfied fairies will sell out in truck loads.

Re: 'Secret Spa', i image that's probably 'Secret Pool', like a hidden grotto... i'd be surprised if the elves/fairies where getting massages and facials... (that sounded ruder than intended).

I think it's still early to speculate until we see some images. I hope there is a storyline behind it - sounds like there is.

"What surprises me more is that there are ELEVEN new Ninjago sets! For just the first wave! Glad to see that theme is firmly back on its feet."

The TV series is going to end in Oct. in the US. They better start putting out more episodes.

All this talk of Elves is all fair and good, but where's the Modulars for 2015? A flatiron building and Lincoln memorial for the Architecture range, but what about Mod fans?

^the exclusive sets do not get published in the retailer catalogs which is where these set names are getting leaked from.

A month or three ago 'Detective Agency' was the rumor on the Modular front but it has been rather quiet since then

We already got confirmation via a Cartoon Network press release earlier in the year that there will be new Ninjago TV episodes in 2015. So there's nothing to worry about on that front.

On another note, BZPower recently announced that the LEGO Group will be holding a panel at New York Comic-Con in October in which a new LEGO theme will be announced. I'm betting on either BIONICLE or the rumored new "super cars" theme, since those are the only new themes I know of that seem like they'd make sense for a Comic-Con reveal. Unless there's some other licensed theme that the LEGO Group has done an extraordinarily good job keeping under wraps, of course.

I just mentioned this on the main page, but these 'Elves' sets seem to me like they could be repurposed sets intended for a Disney Fairies theme (it seems the movies and franchise are being discontinued next year), especially since they are Friends-style minidolls. Aria could be Tinkerbell, and Naida could be the Pirate Fairy (forget her names). Seems a possibility to me at least.

Could be, but keep in mind that in girl books magic, fairies, etc. are already quite popular. This could have easily have just been an in-house design. I always thought a fairies line was an obvious fit and that has nothing to do with Disney.

I think the question here is well, is that while one of the sets has 'elves' in it's German name, that doesn't mean the entire theme is elf based. I could see elves and fairies, or elves fairies and mermaids. (although with the Ariel set, probably not mermaids.)

I'd be surprised if there are any elves in the theme. "Elf" in German can also mean pixie or sprite, both of which generally fall under the broader umbrella of faerie.

@binaryeye Now that is very good to note!! That would make far, far more sense to me, and goes back to what I was saying about how big Rainbow magic fairies is with the 9 and under group and that I always thought fairy made sense. (We already collected multiple wings from the CMF's and created fairy gardens.) Elves as most high fantasy books have, are really not discussed much in books for girls that age. Pixie, Sprite, and Fairy, are huge, though.
While I would prefer high/fantasy and something older, this is a case where from a business perspective I would be strongly pushing fairy/pixie. The later is where the sales would be imho.

I have been reliably informed that the next modular is a Detective Agency. £132.99, available 1st Jan 2015. ;)

^That's an interesting change of direction for the modular theme.
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
If this is true, this is the first modular where I will be generally interested how it turns out.
I still probably won't buy (not enough space to keep it or money to fund the inevitable ensuing modular addiction), but it sounds that much more interesting than the others.

^ And i thought i was the only one. :oP

Yep same here as @plasmodium, very interested in seeing that one, but i just can't afford the danger of modular-fever setting in. (Besides, one of my earliest sets was a fire station, so with that modular now OOP, I could never start them now, as a fire brigade would be high on my list of must haves).
  • epyon396epyon396 Member Posts: 268
I'm officially out of room for modulars, but that's not going to stop me from buying whatever the new one is.
I don't need that piece of wall.

@Aanchir‌ the nycc annoucement could be jurassic world
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
Hmm. A dectective agency might also give an indication as to why Sherlock might not have been pursued. This set could be interesting depending on how it is done.

^ I'm hoping either Sherlockian or film noir. I'd be happy with either of those, though my preference would be Sherlock. Love that programme.

Some folks had mentioned that on other sites, and I agree, it's a very real possibility. I had honestly forgotten about the Jurassic World sets when I made my post, and must have missed it while skimming the list of new sets and themes for next year.

A lot of people are still expecting a BIONICLE reveal because BZPower (a site that has long been focused on BIONICLE, even though they've tried to diversify recently) is the only site that has announced receiving NYCC tickets from the LEGO Group to give away. But maybe other sites haven't announced it yet? Or maybe it's just that BZPower is one of the only LEGO fansites I use that is based in the United States.

All things considered, I'm not too invested in what new theme gets announced at NYCC. If it's BIONICLE, that's an AWESOME way to announce the theme's revival. If it's something else, though, that's still cool, and I'm prepared for that possibility.

This would corroborate what I posted back in June :-) I was told there wouldn't be another modular this year so Jan 1st would fit the evidence so far - and as you live miles away from me we wouldn't have had the same source of info. Price point looks good, thankfully not a £150+ set. Really hope this turns out to be the truth.

Now, what are the chances of it being previewed on Oct 6th as per the store calendar?
  • PaperballparkPaperballpark Member Posts: 4,268
^ I think the chances of that are very high - The Parisian Restaurant was revealed at about the same time last year.

If it's a Detective Agency with an apartment above it, I'll be annoyed. The whole Modular line needs a shakeup.

I think to be a really good Detective Agency modular it should be upstairs from something like a restaurant...if that was the case id also want to adjust all the signage to make it Emerson Cod's office...have some nerd points if you get that without google.

I would love to see the style of Pet Shop again. Two small buildings. One is a detective agency, and the other something else. It would be nice to see, especially if Pet Shop is going out next year. I just don't see that happening, though, with this set.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,633
I am really curious about the color(s) it will be. DA sounds like it might be rather drab. Here is to hoping for an explosion of part variety in a new color like the PR did for olive green.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
But we can't call it DA...DAG?

Unfortunately, the amount of brick required for those interior walls would either jump the price point up even more, or result in ever-smaller buildings, like we are already getting of late.

I'm probably in the minority, but since I really only display my modulars, and don't play with them, the move to invest more and more of the design budget into interior detailing at the expense of overall size has certainly not been a positive one from my point of view.

I thought the PR was a pretty good balance of interior and exterior detailing. While not my favorite modular, it is the first one that looks good as a stand alone model imo.

I notice a lot of people are thinking detective agency = fbi style office block.

That is very possible, (especially as there's been no office blocks of any description yet), but equally I wouldn't be surprised if the title ends up being something of a misnomer; with the set being something closer to a Holmesian/Baker Street rented flat/apartments.

I have no inkling or preference which, but just throwing that out there as a possibility.
  • dannyrwwdannyrww Member Posts: 1,394
I would like a 1930s noir style personally.....I just can't see that being the whole building. Sherlock Holmes would be nice too
  • AanchirAanchir Member Posts: 3,037
Could be a two-building thing like the Pet Shop, with one building being a noir-style detective agency and the other building containing a crime scene of some kind for the private detective to investigate. In fact, I think we might be due for another two-building set at this point.

What would be great is a two-building (PS style), where one building is designed as a mini corner building.

A lot of predictions on the next modular I love it! I think the suspense will end come October :) I really don't have a preference for what the build is exactly, but am highly keen on a two-building mod similar to the PS as many have stated above. I think it's high time and ultimately TLG could only ever make a few of such models imo.

    ^Perfect!

After analysing the modular buildings I have come across that we have a cycle of a corner building then and two normal buildings and so on (excluding Market Street #10190) So the next modular building has to be a normal building. As it's rumored to be a Detective Agency it's highly likely that it would be two separate buildings as @Aanchir stated with one being a detective agency and one being a building with a crime scene. the noir-style architecture is very repetitive again so it makes sense to be two separate buildings unless it's like Town Hall where they chose to do different style of windows for each floor. It would also be cool if Lego tries out a new layout with two smaller modular buildings as @prevere stated; what Jason Skaare on Flickr has done is a great example how a corner 16x32 modular building could actually look (shown above.) I like what everyone has been discussing and cannot wait for pictures to be released.
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
All the modulars seem to be set in the early/mid 20th c (to my memory) so 1930s noir strikes me as more likely than CIA tower block...

I am going to put my vote in for 'It will probably make considerable use of dark brown'. In any event, I think a Detective Agency will be a lot more interesting and unique than doing a police station.
