Today I finished the facade of my first ‘Modular MOC from scratch’. I’ve MOC’ed smaller sets like Corner Deli into a Modular before, but this was the first time I’ve started to just experiment with the pieces I had available. My collection of spare parts is really limited so it was quite challenging and I had to choose my colours carefully.
This is the (unfinished) result:
For size, compared to other Modulars:
What do you guys think? Things you’d change? Any tips on how to start with Modular buildings from scratch?
I’m curious to see what Modular MOC’s my fellow bricksetters came up with!
(If there’s already a thread about this, sorry! Feel free to move it!)
A 16x16x16 chunk of Redstone in Lego (2x2) bricks...
I'm still not happy with the ears and might take out the 1x1 black plate with "tooth" on each side of the face and put in a 1 x 2 plate with 3 teeth.
And if anyone has any suggestions for making the ears look any less terrible, please let me know.
If anyone can figure out who it is just from those, it means I'm on the right track at least.

Looks cool!
Render has washed out the greys a bit.
I'm quite new to posting MOCs online and so have quite a backlog of things to photograph, but most of mine are featured on my flickr

Here is a taster. Click on the photos to be taken to my photo stream, and there are more Mocs on there!
Heat from the deep, for which I recently won the Vignette category in the Colossal Castle Contest XV. I was delighted and honoured!
Merlin's Forest Abode - I came second in the small miscellaneous category, again a huge honour!

After upgrades.
Falcon 9 with Dragon Capsule (before upgrades)
Cherry Red Telsa Roadster with Starman (in development)
Final version of my design (awaiting one Bricklink order):
What it would look like it TLG were still producing Light Stone Grey parts:
& finally, the Solo movie variant (again TLG, please bring back LSG):
McLaren F1 LM, Pagani Zonda Revolución, Koenigsegg One:1, Aston Martin Vulcan, and 1963 Corvette Grand Sport Roadster.
So, I've attempted my first Modular. I was limited by the bricks I have, (and a couple of bricks seem to have somehow fallen off), but it's the right dimensions to fit alongside the official Modular Buildings.
Just wondering what thoughts/advice people may have to help me improve my modular building skills?
So, here's the house
And the people and animals who live there
There's an open plan living area on the ground floor
With a kitchen area
A downstairs WC
& a place to sit
Going up the stairs, we reach the bedroom area
There's an en suite shower
& a balcony with Jaccuzzi
From there, we can access the roof terrace
Where the minifigures like to hold barbecue parties
I used transparent coloured bricks where appropriate to let in light but retain privacy
otherwise that's pretty good, though the window placement on the front at the 1st floor is weird. I had never seen those windows with the diagonal bars, interesting.
I bought LEGO 40174, then decided I wanted a more realistic chess set, so I built my own version. Check it out!

also do 1x1 tiles exist in nougat? for around the door. grey seems to work, but maybe nougat would be better.
oh yeah, great combination between the nougat and dark blue, that makes the different features pop out pretty well.

Finishing routing the monorail. Need to finish the terminals and then I can build a table, drop in the Ferris Wheel, modulars, and skyscrapers, and Brickadelphia is done.
