for a £170 lego set?
words fail me.
You sound like a wonderful friend.
its far from complete but not bad for 'rubbish.'
i can't see anything comparable on eBay past or present so not sure on ££££. Hopefully I'll get enough for possibly the spiderman bridge set!

Total cost £16.50.Thank you Tesco!
plus I did find a 98% complete Death Star two years ago that started the friends star off!
it still baffles me as to what some people chuck out.
I got this ho scale car for $8.27 in an auction on eBay!
@Pitfall69 - maybe it isn't so weird to hist strangers at your house to build Lego.
Fancy a skip dive?
Usually my local CL is filled with overpriced resellers, but today I actually saw some reasonable prices. I already have the 2014 version, but this seems like a good price.
Purchased this AM from Craigslist. $60USD. A quick glance through revealed a few Arctic sets and some other City themes. Approx 12lbs of bricks. Will be great for my MOCing. Will have to figure it all out later as we have Sunday plans but now all I want to do is Lego...
sometimes it's a case of right place, right time.
the fire breathing castle also had the dragon wagon, magic shop and one other castle related set.
tge black seas barracuda had six crew missing and one other part (that I haven't got!) was missing.
The ninjago set had the bags open but all complete!
Anyways, wow an Airport Shuttle is crazy, I've always dreamed of owning one! Lucky you. How much was it?
Anyway, I payed $400 I think. A pretty proud find if I do say so myself.
Although not as great as most other people report here – it has been more than a year now since I’ve seen anything worth buying at my local Target. Not 1 good sale, nothing on clearance, no hard to find sets I couldn’t find somewhere else at a cheaper price.
But while I was leaving the store I noticed they put out Series 13 CMF in several of the checkout lanes. Although these aren’t super old, they definitely hadn’t been for sale at this store since very early 2015. I grabbed the first pack and to my further surprise it was a Unicorn Girl. So I spent the next 30 minutes feeling up packs in every lane. It’s obvious they just found 2 boxes that were sitting somewhere very hot for a long time because packs with rubbery stuff (i.e. the snake from Snake Charmer) were stuck to the inside of the packets. But I walked away with 6 Unicorn Girls, 6 Hot Dog Men, and a few other singles. Something OOS, NOT already picked through, at THIS Target? Still don’t believe it.

I was browsing Craigslist on Friday, and happened to notice a moving sale a few miles from my home that mentioned "LEGO sets". I live in a very rural area, and that typically means that they have the oversized Mega Bloks that they're clearing out from their toddler room. At any rate, I decided to swing a few miles out of my way, as I came home from work, to check it out.
I arrived at the yard sale and saw no LEGO sets. I browsed some other items, and then asked the lady running the sale if they'd already sold the LEGOs that were mentioned on Craigslist. She replied that she'd completely forgot to set them out, and asked if I was interested. I replied that, as long as they were the type that I had in mind, then absolutely. She went inside to get them.
Upon returning, she brought a couple of bags, and several boxes, and set them down on a table. I asked how much for them all, and she said "How about $10?" At this point, I wasn't aware of what actually was inside of the contents, but just on volume alone, I knew it was a good amount. I gave her $20, and she was pleased to see them all go. She remarked excitedly to her husband as I was leaving that "We got rid of all the LEGOs!!"
They were loaded in the car, and I pulled over a few miles down the road to actually inspect what all was there. I was absolutely floored. I won't have time to thoroughly inspect everything for awhile, but I'm seeing (some) boxes, (many) manuals and pieces for at least the following sets:
7316 8969 6270 8992 6077 8060 6066 4996 7893 6085 6274 5972
The only set that I've taken the time to inspect to date was the Bionicle 8992 set... and it was complete... all parts accounted for, along with the instructions.
I have high hopes that many of the other sets are complete as well, but, like I mentioned, it'll be awhile before I have time to know for sure. I plan to resell some sets, and hold onto some others for my boys to add to their collection.
At any rate, this was probably the best and only haul I'll ever find with a close proximity to my home. Thought you might all like to know of it as well.
That is an amazing haul!!
And I checked with the seller 100% lego
Sorry but I still don't get it. People throw Lego away? In the trash just like that? And even unopened stuff? I have never heard of such a thing. What kind of neighbourhood do you live in?
Over here, when people don't want or need their Lego anymore, they either put it on ebay, offer it via newspaper/local ads or if they have no monetary interest in it they give it away for charity like kindergarten/school raffles/oxfam style sales.
And how do you get that stuff? Do you go around on collecting day actively searching through people's bins? On the small chance that there might be Lego stuff in them?
I just can't wrap my head around it.
Sadly, that was when I woke up. I'm still kind of looking hopefully round the house :(.
And over here in Germany you wouldn't get that anyway. We have separate bins for different kinds of waste: one bin for paper/cardboard (which is where you would throw the boxes and instructions), another for plastics (which is where all the pieces would go), a bio bin for organic (garden) waste (no meat etc.) and finally the bin for the unrecycleable rest (diapers, food like meat etc., and all over basically "dirty" stuff that will get burned at the incineration plant).
Now you could say "I don't care about waste separation" and throw everything in the "rest" bin, but you pay for that by weight, so people try to minimize the amount of "rest" waste they produce. Works quite well actually. Especially as most of the trash can actually be recycled.
$47 NZD (£23) for these 3 Ninjago Sets...
Take that Lego!!! I win (for once)...
;-)
