I was very good during November buying no bricks over Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Pink Tuesday, Green Wednesday, etc. Missing the gingerbread house, triple points, blah, blah, blah...
So I walked into TRU today looking for something and ended up with a $60. Friends 41068 Arendelle Castle Celebration, a very cool looking set even though I am not a Disney fan. (And telling myself that my one year old granddaughter will love this set in just a few years!)
Then came the creative part because I walked out of the store after paying 56 cents by using my TRU credit card, a 15 per cent off coupon, two $20. TRU rewards, the 10 per cent off credit card deal on Thursdays, a $10. TRU bucks coupon... SO does paying 56 cents mean I spent money on LEGO.....Hummmm....
I then tried doing the same to pick up the new minifig cube at Target, but alas my gift cards were useless because they don't have the cube yet. Aargh! That still leaves Wal-Mart and LEGO Store gift cards.....shhhhhhh!
On Amazon, the price had gone back up to $178.xx (surprise), but I noticed it said buy new from $10.49. Well that's odd, I thought. So I clicked on it and sure enough! A vendor was selling through for a price of only $10.49. No way! So, I went to put a few in my cart, and surprise, before I check out the item goes out of stock. That's when I had a brain-spark. I noticed the vendor was yoyo.com! So, I quickly jumped over to their site and, yep, it was selling for $10.49!

Has to be a mistake, I thought, but hey, what have I got to loose? I had never purchased from yoyo.com before, but I thought I'd would give it a shot. I know other people have been successful, so why couldn't I? It is an amazon company, and I paid with paypal, so I had all my bases covered! I quickly put the max number I could purchase (10) in my cart and went through the checkout process. It couldn't have been smoother and the order went through. I was going to place another order, but didn't want to press my luck and have both orders canceled since the HOUSEHOLD limit was 10. I spent the next hour crossing my fingers and hoping the order wouldn't get canceled. Within an hour of placing the order, three tracking numbers showed up and it said the packages were shipping soon! Good sign! However, I knew I wasn't in the clear until the packages showed up on UPS tracking. Just this afternoon, I got confirmation they reached a sorting facility! YES!!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed they make it here! I think I'll have to bake the UPS man some cookies for this order. According to UPS, it is 3 packages totaling over 180 pounds!
Now, all I have to do is wait! I'll update you when they arrive. It should be sometime next week. So, in conclusion, I just purchased $2,199.00 worth or TECHNIC LEGO for $104.90 AND FREE SHIPPING! I am on cloud nine right now and couldn't he happier. Please let this be real life and not a dream.
I spoke with an old friend who works for the company afterward and he said the order was legit, that there was no mistake, and that in times of high volume sales the company will clear out slow sellers located in key places to make room.
Here's hoping my four actually arrive!
3843: Ramses Pyramid
for $5.00US each yesterday at a local thrift store.
Thanks for your service overseas, especially over the holidays. May your return safely home soon, like our son did after two Middle Eastern deployments.
I have been wanting a real boat hull for ages and that hull on BL costs about as much as the lot does! And according to someone on facebook, that blue and white building thing comes from a Watto's junkyard.
That's when I noticed the clearance tag. 30% off! I think about it, scan the set to be sure and it's not in the system. "Oh well" I think and take it to the front.
Cashier: "This won't scan, I need to check it."
Me: "Okay..." (Not saying a word about the clearance tag.)
Cashier: (Looks at his electronic scanner) "How does $34.99 sound?"
Me: "Uh, sure."
Been a tough couple of months, I needed a win and boy was this one!
I bought 4 modulars....I wonder if I should buy more as investment or not.
Also UCS X-Wing, Tower bridge, Sydney Opera, Slave I, FairGround Mixer have the same 30% off.
I also shot a video detailing the unboxing along with some other items. https://youtu.be/Lr0wOj9RMIw As of right now it is still uploading...
Very jealous and I wish someone had posted about the deal... but no use crying over spilled milk. Excellent find and congratulations on the LEGO deal of a lifetime :)
Don't do this to us!
As I was saying, how about helping out a fellow bricksetter with one of those at cost plus P&P? You know, for Christmas, a time for sharing ones wealth ;).
Found a Chima set #70134 in TRU. Box was a little bashed, took it to the till, £24.97. SOLD!
Oddly a guy had wanted to buy the lot, but wanted to know the total kg before making an offer. Luckily for me as the sets where in 30 odd boxes. Took a long time to weigh and the seller gave up half way though.
I have built a few of the sets and they are mostly complete.
Oh well, too good to be true, (for me at least) and yoyo will get another one star review to add ro their collection. :-)
Meanwhile I love living vicariously through the pictures! Thanks for posting!
Also in there is some trains stuff including magnetic coupling (hardly any track of though), some counterweight bricks so I am assuming a crane of some type. And the majority of an incomplete lion Knights castle (no raised baseplate sadly).
Minifgures have taken a hammering as you can see from the lack of space guys but otherwise not too bad condition wise for 30+ year old lego. Well chuffed.
Helping out fester, uncle find new holiday lightbulbs?
