I dont usually come up on craigslist, in fact really never as whenever I see a great deal, it is usually sold by the time i contact the seller.  Also, this has nothing on dolphins79 epic comeup :)

I picked up a bundle from someone selling in a FB group back before Christmas and have only just got around to looking at it.

    The following are definitely here:

    4842-1: Hogwarts Castle
    4867-1: Hogwarts
    4737-1: Quidditch Match
    4840-1: The Burrow

    and

    8098-1: Clone Turbo Tank
+ I'd say at least another 2 SW sets I haven't yet identified

Very little in the way of figures so far but I'm hoping they're tucked away at the bottom. Even if they're not I reckon I got a bargain at £100. Best bit is I haven't come across any bite marks yet, seems these were built just once and then left on display.

Recently I found the following in a second-hand shop:

    new, sealed sets
    #30226 Police Helicopter €1
    #9480 Finn McMissile €1.5
    #7235 Police Motorcycle €1

used, complete (or 99%) but no instructions
    #8355 H-O-T Blaster Bike €1
    #42026 Black Champion Racer €1
    #42004 Mini Backhoe Loader €1.5
    #42007 Moto Cross Bike €1.5

    and (Duplo) #2711 Straight Tracks + 4x #2712 Curved Tracks + #2714 Train Crossings for €1

I'll have to go there more often (and be thoroughly disappointed 99% of the time)!

Exact opposite of this thread, but I need to confess.

When I was in my dark years, I decided to clear out a load of stuff from my room at a car boot sale, including the giant cardboard box that all of my childhood LEGO was kept in. It had loads of classic space, castle and city sets in it, all broken up and without instructions, with 50+ minifigs.

What really gets me is that I sold it for just £5... Someone out there got a really good deal at a car boot sale in Oxford about 10 or 15 years ago.  :(

^ Good news is that people continue to do it! So if you check the car boot sales once in a while you may get your lego back and more (just be prepared for thorough disappointment 99% of the time ;))

wish you look now i jsut need the middle car since only have the club car
  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651
Hmm, could be hard to just find the middle car from that set. You could always try parting it out between Bricklink and your own parts.

I am so happy right now! £120 collected from ebay. I reckon it was a good deal :)?

I found a good lot a couple of weeks ago. 4 big boxes of bricks and a shopping bag full of instructions for about £150. I have completed about 80 minifigures and there are still a lot of minifig parts left.
But the sets! Everything is in pieces. Sorting now, but oh my, what a job. Phew!
  • stustaffstustaff Member Posts: 50
    Yeh that's the 'fun' part.
is there any posts on here about best way to clean ready build models? I'm thinking feather duster, vacuuming with tights over the nozzle?
  • GuroooGurooo Member Posts: 268
I think water and soap is the only way. The dust is usually a little sticky. With built models I usually wash them on the outside and then take them apart to dry.
  • BACbrixBACbrix Member Posts: 655
Air duster cans for keyboards work for me. I usually take a coffee stirring straw and put it inside the nozzle for more air pressure PSI. The air duster cans are great but near me they are 4$ a can and when you have an entire LotR display to dust it can be a bit pricey bit well worth it if you do not want to disassemble.
  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651
This may not be the most time sufficient or sophisticated method, but I sometimes use Q-tips to get dust out from in between studs and hard to reach places.

So I got my monorail parts in the mail and I was surprised to find something else included as well. First, here's all of the parts, washed and organized (including all the right tracks and stanchions for #6990 and #6921): https://www.flickr.com/photos/131445796@N04/shares/V2255r Now, I could see in the original listing I bought from that there was a box with some papers in it. Turns out the the box was the inner tray from #6921 Monorail Accessory Track, and buried beneath a layer of manuals and cardboard from other 80's toys was a treasure trove of instructions and folded down boxes from classic space sets! They also had the outer boxes from #6921 (And instructions - overall, I got this set complete!), #6953 and #6954, as well as a larger Technic box. I also got the super rare backdrop from the Futuron Monorail! Here's the pic: https://www.flickr.com/photos/131445796@N04/shares/8Wp9ch I was so surprised and excited to see all these treasures buried in a box full of packing peanuts I got a little teary-eyed! I'm also really excited that the boxes for #6802 and #6805 were there due to their rarity, despite the fact that the side flaps have been neatly removed. I paid $80 for the lot.

Wow happy Father's day to me! Went on ebay and typed Lego unexpected gathering and put newest first and US only. Found a buy it now at 65$ sealed box with only slight damage. The seller has only 2 feedback so I am a but weary but if this turns out to be real then wow how lucky. I always do newest first so I can snatched up any decent listing before they draw too much attention.

Several years ago my mother-in-law texted me they had all the "little minifigure bags" for sale at the Target in her town.  I said grab me some, I'll give you $20.  Well next time I saw her she handed me a bag of the series 7 (?) minifigures.  About 70 of them! Apparently they were on sale for $0.25 each.  I thought that was pretty good consider they are about $3/$4.

I found an incomplete monorail 6991 at Goodwill recently. It only had some of the track, but it had all of the support beams and the two cars with motor. I got the grab bag for $8 and after pricing out the individual pieces, I could easily sell it for over $35 on bricklink. Decent find. I don't know if I will sell them since I normally don't sell anything, but it is good to know what things are worth.

I also found another smaller grab bag of LEGO at the same Goodwill and it had a complete CUUSOO Minecraft set in it.

Nothing spectacular as some of these other posts, but still decent finds for the price.

Found a #4191 Captain's Cabin (from 2011!) at Wal-Mart last weekend. Box intact, only a couple corner dings. $9 clearance. I have never had a find like that, a small one but I won't feel so left out reading this thread any longer! Lol

My son found a couple of Chima sets at Books a Million today under the clearance bin

    #70141 Vardy's Ice Vulture Glider $5
#70142 Eris' Fire Eagle Flyer $10

They had several other Chima sets that he already had so no idea what they cost.  They did not have a sale sticker on them so we had to take them up front to see what the sale price was

Yesterday I managed to pick up the following:-

#4726 Quidditch Practice - 95% complete with instructions, no box

#4714 Gringotts Bank - 90% complete with instructions, no box

#4707 Hagrids Hut - 95% complete with instructions, no box

#4768 Durmstrang Ship- 100% complete, no instructions or box

The incomplete sets are missing only minor bricks, the #4768 Durmstrang ship parts are in mint condition, looks like it has only been built once and has a set of printed instruction with it.

There was also a small amount of spare parts & mini-figs included as well.

    Paid £60 in total

So I came across this and bought it almost instantly. Despite lack of minifigs, I see a ton of pieces here, and plenty of rare classic parts, so I'm feeling pretty good about this as a project.

Has the price of a bulk lot gone up that much? I would have only bought at that price if the figs were included.
  • NorlegoNorlego Member Posts: 449
I bought 6277 at my local carboot for £2. Boxed with instructions. While not complete, most of the unique parts present along with 4 of the figures. Must be one of Legos best Pirate sets.
The odd thing was the pricing. The sellers had some old boardgames and they were £2 also. If I had wanted, I could of haggled and got if for £1, but I felt it safer to buy it before somebody  else showed interest.

It depends on what's included in the lot. If it were just a bunch of random parts and no instructions or obvious rare parts, then I'd agree with you. But I have a good feeling about this. Seems to have most of the rare parts from #6987 Message Intercept Base and instructions, as well as parts from several other space sets. Also, I think there is likely a near-complete #6971 (minus one crater plate if one is used for #6987) and #6074 Black Falcon's Fortress. I'm also planning to resell a lot of it once I've picked what I want.
  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651
^Checked again, there's actually 3 crater plates where I thought there were 2!
