A great score : a totally unknown Philips promotional set produced in the early 70's. It is a medical scanner it seems, does anybody know something more about it ?  http://www.youblisher.com/p/664745-PHILIPS-Corporation-Promotional-LEGO-Items/

I was at Target and caught a glimpse of the Simpson's House at customer service. I asked if it was for sale and they told me that it was marked down to $140 because it's typically only sold online. I snatched it up for $144 after tax after the red card discount. I was stoked!
    Yup. Happened to me too!

Online return. Automatically discounted to move it. Then remove the 5% for the red card. :)

Awesome pickup!!  Why does the auction end date say Apr 24 but you say you purchased last week?

Weird, for me it says the auction ended Apr 17.

Strangely, my screen says it ended on April 24th too... yet my purchase history says April 17th. i think it might just be an eBay error. That's a one week discrepancy, which would be the standard 7 day auction (so eBay has it ended as if no one purchased it). Which still doesn't make sense, but is a reasonable explanation considering the circumstances.

Just trust me on this one ;)

All my years on eBay, never noticed that the end date differs with a Buy-It-Now purchase date.  Appears that the original item end date is shown even though item is purchased with a Buy-It-Now prior to that date.

Nonetheless, looks like an excellent haul for the price.  Interested on what you find.

@Fauch @77ncaachamps Yup. At TRU in Melbourne, FL and I saw it buried in the back of a sales rack. The associate scanned it and said she could not find it in database so her manager looked it up online and said she saw them for 120$ online retail suggestion. Snagged for 60$ she said since other sets were 50% it would be fair to do this one that way. Box was in great condition. I will upload picture and try and find receipt.

Managed to get the Lego Technic 42022 Hot Rod for $20 at Walmart.
  • 77ncaachamps77ncaachamps Member Posts: 2,442
@BACbrix Not that I don't believe you but dang!

@sithlord196 nice pickup! Too bad Lego sets are really YMMV at Walmarts.
  • SithLord196SithLord196 Member Posts: 1,161
The sticker originally said $25.00 on it this past weekend, but when I went back for it on Monday night it was moved in their clearance aisle and had a shelf sticker stating it was $20.00. Was easily worth the $20.00 even though it should have an 8 cylinder instead of a 6, and was actually bigger than I initially thought.

That same Walmart also had the lion tank thing from Chima for $30.00 down from $40.00 but I just don't like it enough. All the other 'Clearance' Lego that was there was moved to the 'Clearance' aisle and had the red stickers put on them but were still selling for full price, which was the same at two other Walmarts by me.

Here is my latest charity shop find, #8457 Lego Technic Power Puller.
Seems to be complete apart from the sticker sheet, looks like whoever had this started to build it and gave up half way through as 3 of the bags are still sealed and apart from a scratch on the battery box the Lego looks brand new, not bad for a 15 year old kit.
    Paid £40 for it.

Nearly neverending list-- that is one heck of a deal, you're lucky! And here I was thinking I was all cool for finding a $129 set for $80. :)

Hey everyone, newbie here!  I don't have quite such dramatic stories, but I did get the Home One LEGO set for 50% off at a LEGO Store several years ago.  (It's a great set, by the way, highly recommended, and there's one listed for under $100, shipping included, on Amazon right now.)  I don't know to this day why it was on sale.  Not selling well, maybe?

Anyway, I also managed to snag the 2013 A-Wing for 50% off as well last year.  I now have two Admiral Ackbar minifigs. B)

Just picked this guy up from Craigslist.  Glue model about 34" tall.  Guy said it was from a Walmart maybe 5 years ago.  Missing some pieces from the hands but pretty fun as is.

Not a bargain as such, but great to spot it after missing out this Easter. Bluewater LEGO shop had one #40121  sitting at the till, so I grabbed ASAP. RRP but still cheaper than the prices on Bricklink / eBay etc now.

It's not specificity sets but I stumbled across Cora's Creations on Bricklink and the prices are so cheap. Yes delivery costs £3.00 for UK buyers but it's still worth it.

From another seller I got three 8x8 tan plates for £1.00, where as LEGO sells them for 60p-90p each!

Bought a #79017 shipped from UK to US for $45.  Not the greatest but beats any other deal I've seen.  I now own all of the LOTR and Hobbit minifigs.  Missing Smaug because i didnt buy lonely mountain.  BL has him for $65...thats gonna be a tough buy.  Anyone wanna part with theirs for less than that?? =)

yep I have used Cora's Creations before, great service but as with all Bricklink orders its the postage that's a killer & £3 was reasonable for the size of order i placed

Over the course of two days last week I got almost every Bionicle set (about 90% of the theme), in good condition with most having packaging and instruction. Working Manas, rare combiners- everything. Not counting five hours of drive time, I paid about $200 for it all.

Picked up HH & Vampire castle bundle £200, both sets are complete. Instructions used, no boxes, but the bricks are as new if dusty (built once and displayed). Not cheap but still a bargain considered how much these sets go for these days.

Seeing as they're 'old' batman figures, they're unlikely to be faked. Most of the counterfeit stuff I've seen are copies of new figs, or characters not produced by lego. Though generally real figs will have the standard lego pin set up on the hip/torso connection, and 'lego' printed somewhere on the piece. Nice score btw.

Amazing find! Those DC figs are safe in my opinion. To my knowledge,  no Chinese company have made any of them (apart from that Joker).

Not so much of a brag but I went on a day-trip to Basingstoke today, went into The Entertainer and was surprised to see 4 #21005 Fallingwater on the shelf for £79.99 each, needless to say I immediately bought 1, (if I had the funds I would have bought all 4 but hay-ho). So if anyone is after this set , don't want to pay ebay prices and are near Basingstoke there are still 3 sets on the shelf in The Entertainer.
