A sealed #6079 Dark Forest Fortress for $290 shipped... wasn't even dreaming I will get my hands on one of these NISB. Box looks great, no broken seals or dried glue.

    Boy, am I stoked.

I know this thread is mostly about great buys, but I'd like to post about a great sell.

I was finally... finally able to sell my Hoth Han poly. Thankfully, I got $10 out of it... although with free shipping and eBay fees I only got about $5 back. I consider getting what I did a blessing. Still, the site of seeing that ugly figure being packed away in an envelope and sent across the country was enough satisfaction for me. There are some things money can't buy.

At least I never have to see it again. Good riddance.

Good trip to TRU tonight. Due to Multiple discounts, sale prices and coupons, I was able to pick up a #42009 (Mk II Mobile Crane) for $163.70 and 3x #9398 (4x4 Crawler) for $136.22 each. Plus 4 free #30302 Spiderman glider polys!

Last night, I swung by TRU and got Big Bentley (#8639). The listed price was $50, but when I checked out it was apparently on special for $20.

Alas, the Lone Ranger train in TRU was being sold for $135 :( I didn't know TRU would sell above RRP.

Lol, $135 would be a steal over here in canada ;P

Tell you what, I'll load up a bunch of Constitutions and head north of the border, and I'll swap you for some of those cheap prescription drugs.

@ArtfulDodger I often wonder if people smuggle a lot of prescriptions down to the states to sell, probably. That trade would be a win win ;P

^ If possible we need the full story on that one!

My parents found all of the minifigures cheap somewhere, so decided to entomb them in a box made out of Mega Bloks as a joke present. Pretty chuffed, as I didn't have many figures from any of these series!

I thought there were about 70 in total (I counted the CMF baseplates), but then I realised the base of the box was also made out of them! 145 figures in total :)

Good things come to those who waste beautiful Saturdays chasing down Craiglist deals. Stopped at a Barnes and Noble and found a #10188 (Death Star). With membership discount and a coupon, price was $288.00.

I just bought this Death Star #10188 on eBay buy it now for £120.

This is quite a big purchase for me. I feel a bit sick, and every so slightly er, naughty? (I haven't told the wife).

I justify it on the grounds that I think the minifigs would fetch about £90 on ebay.

The guy has very low feedback (none as a seller), but since I will be collecting and paying cash, I hope I'll be OK (unless he gets five mates to mug me!).

@texaspete‌ I would not worry about getting mugged. The seller just wants cash to save some cash and paypal hassle. Some buyers prefer cash too, oddly enough.
But do check contents, as you cant complain afterwards to ebay/paypal.

Alarms about 'low feedback = crook' completely unjustified. Seller was lovely grandmother; presumably low feedback because 'new to all this internet malarky'.

@SuperTramp‌ I was watching that, but completely failed to spot it was the same seller. That lot definitely out of my price range. It does explain why one of my Stormtroopers is actually what appears to be a clone trooper.

Lord knows how long it will take me to work out what 10% are missing, but this is my first Star Wars set and I'm feeling pretty happy right now.

A guy replied to my gumtree ad, he had some small sets to sell in manchester #7206 and others with missing parts. Nothing for me, so he told me he had just sold combine harvester and 8 other bigger sets for £45. Somebody got a bargain there... He had also sold 35 kgs of lego, he didnt say price but somebody got lucky there....
Gumtree is useful in the uk?

    @Norlego

Gumtree is fantastic. Got some great lots of the years. It is becoming difficult to get a bargain as people seem to know what they have and ask the earth for it.

I've gotten old 12v Lego train and the newer 9v ones, castle set x3 all for 100quid then i spotted a huge trunk of Lego for 120quid was full to the top and still haven't got through all of it.

Worth looking close by your area, I have travelled to Cardiff (from Bristol) and got some great items the old Tri plane Red Baron #10024 for 12quid, was going to cardiff any way.

A small one, but an important one ... my 3-year-old daughter spotted online (with my help) the #41508 Mixel S1 Volectro (yellow with spiky hair... bit like me!) and decided she really wanted it...
...and I found it amongst a few S1 stragglers in a local Tesco! :)

There is so much cheap lego around, I had to take down one of my wanted ads.... People are hell bent on selling lego at a fraction of the cost and I dont have room to store it all... And it tears me apart not to be able to buy, but I just dont have room for it....
  • FollowsCloselyFollowsClosely Member Posts: 1,376
^ That is not the case where I live. It is hard to get used Lego lots. five years ago it was a snap, as many as I wanted. Now, it is only one a month or so that I end up with.

Stayed up late the other night and got lucky… Bought this (pick up only) job lot on Ebay with a buy it now price of £55. The photo was awful, but contents good. I have found bricks from: http://brickset.com/sets?query=3222-1,3221-1,7208-1,7206-1,7213-1,7213-1,3179-1,7686-1,7635-1,7630-1,5766-1,3181-1,7641-1,4643-1,3180-1,7642-1,7288-1,7639-1 I will no doubt uncover loads more. Pleased with this lot, as I have many of the sets before. So I can make one perfect set to sell on Ebay and one to sell at my local carboot. I have found around 70 mini-figs.
I felt guilty as I drove to pick up the Lego, as owners lived in a round down area, but their house was in good shape. (Painted.) I asked why not ask for more, but the owners weren’t to bothered. They had 6 people asking to post, but felt it was to heavy to post….
  • SuperTrampSuperTramp Member Posts: 1,021
    Whats a round down area?
  • NorlegoNorlego Member Posts: 449
If you remove the "o" and maybe "d", then we should end up with "run". This could be discussed, though. Anyway it was a dodgy area, that I did not now existed, but then I live in the countryside blissfully unaware of what goes on in suburban areas...

Not great, but a good Craigslist find. We owned only 5 of the sets, so that makes this a more exciting find than some.

I just got Amazon (UK) to accept an order for 2 x #79013 Lake Town Chase (new) from a 3rd party seller. The cost including delivery works out at £9.24 each. This is a discount of 81.5% off RRP. I wonder if I'll get them.

So here's my story. I purchased a large lot of used Lego bricks from a fellow (which isn't even the focus of this brag). We decide to meet up at a Target to make the transaction. This is not a Target I have ever been to. He's running late so I decide to kill some time inside Target. Of course, I walked directly to the Lego aisle. I looked around and everything seems identical to other Targets... except the Collectible Minifigure side cap display catches my eye. It's not blue like the current Simpsons series. It's not even black like the Movie series. It's white... as in Series 6 from two years ago white! I looked closer and it is indeed a display FULL of Series 6 minifigures. I grabbed a shopping basket to fill up, then start to wonder about the price. Simpsons figures are now $3.99, while these figures were originally $2.99. I brought one to a price scanner and it said "Item Not Found." I went back to the display and luckily, a Target employee happens to stop by to stock the aisle. I asked him to check the price and he confirmed it is not in the system. He asked how much they were supposed to be, and I told him $2.99. The fellow must have been management because he said since they are not current product, he can tell the head cashier to let me have them for $1.50 each. My gut reaction was "I'll take them all!" which he had no problem with. I asked if I could even have the display itself and he helped me take it down. So after the cashier and I counted everything, I walked out of Target with over a hundred Series 6 minifigures and the display for half off the original retail price! Another customer congratulated me on the purchase.

Epilogue: The Craigslist seller did show up and even though I ended up with 52 pounds of Lego bricks, the minifigure find made the transaction worth it!

^ this is madness... The correct way is this: So it is $1:50 each but what if i buy everything? The guy might have said a dollar each... Plus we will pay you $20 to remove the stand....
It is greedy but they are proberly more concerned with having non-priced stuff on the shelves....

That would be a fine approach had I not been totally caught off guard by the situation. I was just amazed that they had the product at all, let alone willing to let me have it at half off. In any case, I'm very happy with the purchase, though I did have some explaining to do to the girlfriend. :-)
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,477
lets be fair that was a great find. any CMFs i see now have all had their price hiked up in line with TLM/Simpsons line so thats frankly a great find.

Two years back I did exactly what @Norlego stated. I was at Target with the family and one of my older kids spotted the display from a distance. There was no price so I asked a manager what he would charge if I took them all. I got 234 of them for $1 each.

^ That is a really nice haul for $100! Especially now with the addition of a #7622. The #4439 Heavy Lift Helicopter is nice looking set, but so fragile. If you sneeze near it, the rotors, loading ramp and doors might fall off.

^ I saw that and wondered if that was legitimate. First the trains, now this! Next thing will be a $500.00 #10179 for you!
  • RonyarRonyar Member Posts: 373
I wondered if it was legit too. Called the guy, and he was trying to raise money for a truck he just bought. Only Lego set he owned apparently. When I asked why he hadn't opened it, he said he didn't like Harry Potter. I gathered he bought it for less than the $65 he charged me, but I'm ok with that! And it was at his mom's house. :)
By the time I picked it up, he had had 6 other people call him about it. I weighed it after checking the seals, and it's within an ounce of the Bricklink weight. The seals look good, so hopefully all is well. Now I have to debate building and motorizing it, or selling it.

Oh, and bring on the $500 #10179! (Although that one will have rip-off written all over it!).

Thought I'd seen this on here before, but couldn't find it... #79110 Lone Ranger Mine was 29.99 in TRU (Harlow) - marked as reduced from 39.99, but still way under RRP of 69.99...
Stupidly I didn't pick one up as I've never been into Lone Ranger and don't want to hoard masses...

It's not that low feedback instantly makes someone a crook, it's just about risk. Low feedback simply means there's more risk. To help mitigate that risk, I start up communication, asking them more-than-boilerplate questions, asking if they need help since they are obviously new, etc.
