I've actually made it into the brag thread , I'm made up, I bought a smooth haired leia including free p+p for £7.99 buy it now on freebay...result

Is it a genuine one, or a dipped in acetone one?
Im hoping genuine but anyway to tell to be sure ?
You might see very faint pitting on the surface if dipped in acetone, it depends how well it is done. The best way is to compare with other smooth versions preferably in person, if not then online.

Thanks for the advice, it looks ultra smooth, looks the same as a previous one I sold but hadn't realised there where fakes floating around.. seller sold it listed has just the normal version totally unaware of its rearaty, he/she had lots of figures listed but I don't think Lego was his/her thing, not looking at other listings or feedback. I bought it with 3 hours of listing starting

Got back from Smyth's earlier, here is the update on the SSD #10221-1 's that were priced at £239.99.
They were wrongly priced at £239.99 and should have been priced at the RRP of £349.99 but they said did I want them ?' if so they would honor the stickered price... so I brought both of them, they put the "discount" through as a gift card so the grand total I paid was £479.98 for both SSD's.
    I am so chuffed !.

Picked up 15 or so lbs of Lego for $50 USD, the best part is there are close to 200 mini figs in the lot. Would have felt bad getting it that cheap but I know the seller got them for free from a 3rd party who was going to put them in the garbage.
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
^ Did you pick these up from Craigslist in Northern Virginia? I saw the ad. You beat me to the punch on MS and CC. I couldn't believe the price - though without instructions, I wondered whether they were bricklinked and maybe missing some of the rare parts . . . . Anyway, well done!
  • FollowsCloselyFollowsClosely Member Posts: 1,329
^ Yep. All original and complete. I chated for a while as we packed. He purchased ms for $300 on eBay and the rest at the Tyson's store. He tossed the boxes and instructions as "they are online".

Garage sale find for $15. Scored some classic space sets: #6987 and #6876 with most pieces in the sets still there including the minifigs and building instructions. With it also got some other space sets still need to figure out which ones they are with 15 other space minifigures from the same era. I was just hunting for minifigures to trade when I go to Legoland.

Was at an out of the way department store (Big W) and found a Mill Village Raid #7189 which i bought. It scanned at $78 but had a big hole in the front, still a good price though ($120AUD was our retail from memory and it is close to what they are currently selling for on bricklink etc). I asked and got $10 extra off. $68 sounded good to me & it will go well with the Medieval Market Village.

Just picked up a NISB #8066 for - wait for it - 50p at the local boot sale!

Box is crushed, but it's factory sealed. Whoever thought you could get any set for 50p NISB, especially an EOL'ed set?

I'm not a collector of Technic, but I couldn't pass on a bargain like that :-)

    370
    373
    364
    365

Quite a bit of loose bricks aswell :)

All the sets are virtually mint, with all original packing, anything there worth having?

I picked up a 30 pound lot off from cl last week. The kids have sorted and started to pull sets out that are 99% complete. So far they have completed:

    #4842 Hogwarts Castle
    #4737 Quidditch Match
    #4736 Freeing Dobby

    image

List of manuals here. It has been over a year since we have purchased a used lot. I have forgotten how much fun the kids have sorting out sets. According to bs, that's over 9,000 pieces and $950 in RRP.

I won some Atlantis mini-figs, (6 mini-figs for £10.62), off a seller that lives about 15mile's from my house so I asked if I could "cash on collect, local pick-up" they said yes.
While talking to the very nice lady, named Sarah, she told me that her 2 sons were Lego mad but had lost interest so were selling there collection and would I like to have a look, naturally I said yes and she took me to a spare room where there were boxes & boxes of mixed Lego & mini-figs & it was all for sale. So I asked the Question "How much do you want for it ?", Sarah said she didn't know and to make an offer, we finally agreed on £250.00, (after her phoning her husband & him agreeing to my price). We shook hands & the 2 boys started reeling off the Lego that was there, "Harry Potter, Atlantis, Castle, Agents, Toy Story, Batman....(I did spy a Joker mini-fig), Indiana Jones, lots of those mini-figs in the little packets...CMF's).
I will post some pictures later.
So far the only bad thing is that due to a house move she had thrown away all the instruction books ;-(...........
I did thank her for filling the back of my car with Lego and for keeping me busy for the next 6-8 months.....let the sorting begin, (again !).

I wouldn't lose too much sleep. Was listed at 4.11am Monday, a single bid at 4.36 and was ended at 16.36. I suspect the seller was made an offer to end early.

Lol, only 10 minutes down the road too.

Sweet...., on having a quick rummage through I have also found pieces from #6211-1 & #6210-1.
I have had a look at the lady's "completed listings" on ebay and she has sold a few "lots" of different mini-figs, (probably because they are easy to list & sell), so I will have to see what mini-figs I have & don't have.

    * Bought 50kg of used LEGO, mainly technic, castle and starwars for 350€ - including 5kg of non-punchholed instructions in good condition.
I was very happy to find an unexpected complete monorail 6399 in that lot - including all sticker parts :-)
    * in a small toy shop I found all 2012th Lord of the Ring sets reduced for 50%

Not as good as most others, but finally my first great find! I bought several lots from an eBay seller, who broke the lots up into bricks (or brick-like), plates, and special pieces, for a total of about $50. Putting them together, it looks like I have nearly complete (just minus a few bits) 2010 versions of the big Hogwarts Castle, 2x Quidditch Match and Knight Bus. No figs for Quidditch and Hogwarts Castle, but Knight Bus is all there and I'm ecstatic!

Not much of a brag but I bought 6 Star Wars figures for £6, a harry potter basilisk snake for 50pence all from my local car boot sale, there was this guy who also had an NBA basketball set for £16 but I passed on that and there were lots more lego items. :-D
  • fizicystfizicyst Member Posts: 72
OK, I am not quite sure if this is a brag or belongs in some sort of wall of the weird type thing. I was at Target and found a MISB 7676 just a few minutes ago! OK, if you look at the attached pic, you will see that they have the new version already out for sale (along with the MF that was clearanced out ages ago and now seems to be back at every Target).

Now for the REALLY strange part. This target only opened about 2 yrs after the 7676 went out of production! So it was definitely not sitting in the back for years...was it a return from someone?

Anyway, for $60 I decided it would be mine.

^probably a return. If you are in the bay area, there was a post in another thread that a large amount of sets stolen/scammed by someone a couple years ago that got caught and recently convicted of theft are slowly being returned to the stores that got product taken from them.

Picked up a mint #9467 for £24 in toysrus of all places. It was sat on a table with a reduced sticker. Also got a Geoffrey polybag and chima keychain thrown in as well.

$580 got me a Café Corner and 50 pounds of pieces. The Café Corner box is crushed and ripped up but all the bags are still sealed. Never thought I'd own one and it took pooling every piece of money I had to get but I figure that set alone was worth the price of the whole lot.
