Picked up #6211 Imperial Star Destroyer complete with figs, box and instructions for $90 from Craigslist. Summer is usually a good time for CL deals -- lots of teens looking to sell their stuff for summer cash. Scored Jabba's Sail Barge last summer for $50 (albeit that was without some figs or the instructions or box).

A friend picked up #4840 the Burrow at a yard sale for $8. Only missing a few pcs. He also found the 2010 HP sets minus Hagrids hut for $20. The guy has all the luck,

Just got a BNISB #9515-1 for £45.00 & a BNISB #9500-1, which I got by doubling up my Tesco club card points at Christmas so didn't cost me anything in theory, I have been trying to trade it for something for a while now after its sale on ebay went sour.
I am quite happy with what I got, (I know that the price of the #9515-1 is starting to tumble on Amazon ), I got this from a collectors shop so no waiting for the postman.

Not necessarily a huge brag, but feel pretty good about it anyways.
My wife and I are big Harry Potter fans but was in my dark ages when it was all still available. We told ourselves that we wouldn't try to collect the sets unless we could start with something big like Hogwarts or Hogwarts Express.

    Well...

    Last weekend
    #4842-1 Hogwarts, compete w/Box/Instructions (only displayed) $85
    #30110-1 Trolley $5 - New
    #30111-1 The Lab $5 - New

    Today
Lot 1 $125 (Some Harry torso's swapped, no instructions)
    #4867-1 Hogwarts
    #4738-1 Hagrids Hut
    #4736-1 Freeing Dobby
    #4865-1 Forbidden Forest x 2
#4866-1 Knight Bus (no mini Figs)
    #30111-1 The Lab

    Lot 2 $140 (All Complete w/Instructions)
    #4728-1 Escape from Privet Drive
    #4705-1 Snape's Class
    #4706-1 Forbidden Corridor
    #4707-1 Hagrids Hut
    #4708-1 Hogwarts Express

3677-1 Red Cargo Train (no grain tower thing or brown dumper
    3180-1 Tank Truck
    3221-1 Lego Truck x 2

I have always been envious of this thread but finally get the chance to post :-D

Found a listing for a garage sale in Canberra last week and saw lego listed. In the picture was a host of rare lego including a Grand Carousel!

Alas this was gone by the time I called :-( and it only went for $300 with box! However I did manage to score the town plan set with instructions for 150, and the 7898 Cargo train for another $150. Particularly pleased with the town plan as I have been after it for ages but Ive been put off by the $500+ Price tag on ebay!

I posted my find of 65 pounds of Lego parts recently. Since then I have been sorting the parts as time permits. I have been able to find pieces to quite a number of sets, but none really workable yet. The one set I have a significant number of parts for is a #10022 Santa Fe train car. I have attached acouple of pics
  • gordonfgordonf Banned Posts: 18
Sorry, I just hit the wrong button and posted before finishing. I have partially built the #10022 using some non-original parts that I found or borrowed from other sets I have. Most notable is the 6x28 baseplate which is new gray and borrowed from an Emerald Night set. I plan on getting the remainder of the parts in the correct color to complete the car. I have the #10020 and #10025 sets, so this one will fit right in.

On eBay I found a listing with terrible photos but a good description. This was the description

Small Lego Lord of the rings Lot
    - Lego Set 9470. New factory sealed in the box. (All figures and pieces sealed and box has never been opened)
    - Set 9471 (Only the wall from bag 2. No minifigures included and No bag 1). In the picture of the wall, the minifigure is not included. It does come with the instruction booklet
    - Set 9472. The set only and minifigure of Aragorn lor017. (No Frodo, Merry, 2 ring wraiths or horses) Bag 1 and 4 have been opened to take out the minifigures and bags 2 and 3 are sealed. It also comes with the instruction booklet.
    - 1 Gandalf the Grey Minifigure as seen in the pictures
    - 1 Lego storage box
Sets have never been assembled except for the Gandalf Minifigure
.Owned in a pet free and smoke free home

I payed $21.50 and got free shipping.
9479-Shelob attacks (new in the box)
    9471-Uruk Hai army
    9472-Weathertop

I almost felt a bit guilty when it showed up because the seller spent about $10 to ship it to me.

I purchased a disassembled City Airport at a garage sale for 25.00. No box, just a bag of parts and the instruction books. Put it together, all pieces were there.

There are some great deals on Gumtree, I got a complete 4483 AT-AT with minifigs, box, and instructions, plus an Imperial Landing Craft, (again, minifigs, box, instructions) plus a huge box of spare parts for $100.

Got a sealed #9397 in eBay from a local (Madrid - Spain) seller, 66€ (86$), box corners a bit damaged but no holes or tears. Picked up in person so no p&p cost.

For $200, snagged an assorted lot that seems to contain complete versions of the following:
    #4558 Metroliner (with instructions)
#4563 Load and Haul Railroad (with instructions)
    #4554 Metro Station (with instructions)
#4543 Railroad Tractor Flatbed with instructions
#4537 Octan Twin Tank Rail Tanker with instructions
    #6594 Gas Transit with instructions
plus what appears to be all or part of a Technic motorbike.
I am assuming that all or most of the above sets are in there because of the instructions (and eyeballing it I can see the portions of assembled sets and parts such as the Metroliner decals). Tons of track as well. Cannot wait to sort it all out. Will likely keep the Metroliner and Metro Station but sell the other stuff if people are interested . . . .

Won #1489 on ebay for only $47.50 shipped, complete. Only one for sale on BL in the US for $174.95!
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,696
^ That is a great set, maybe because it has a real metal hook instead of plastic.

I don't understand why 1489 is that expensive, the parts for it are ~$19 average. The instructions are probably hard to find.
  • CupIsHalfEmptyCupIsHalfEmpty Member Posts: 545
^^^ I recognize that boom from a bulk lot I got last year. I'm going to have to start digging to see it it's the one from #1489 .

I'm assuming it had original instructions. Otherwise that is a way cheap set to build from parts. I built three of them, only needing the printed crane arms and two hooks, which I got for $.50

If it's on Craigslist, please make sure it's legit. Quite a few scams going on with absurdly priced retired sets. :-)

No it was an auction at Goodwill. So it is legit.

Another good lot of bulk including #7905, the yellow 3 in 1 house, a fire station (haven't looked up the set #), #4851 Spiderman the Origins, a helicopter, a batmobile, and probably 15lbs of bulk for $120.

Went to some yard sales today. Snagged these sets for a total of $7.00 (opened, but complete with box) #7956 and #8060 and a MISB #7592. And got 7 pounds of loose parts for $4.00. The parts seem somewhat older as all the gray parts are the old gray. The sets aren't very valuable, but it's still fun to find them.
  • sjerakatsjerakat Member Posts: 27
I can't believe I am posting this, because it means it actually happened and I'm not dreaming, but I just picked up an MISB 1st edition UCS Falcon for $550 off Craigslist. Completely sealed and box is in perfect condition.. I'm speechless and debating whether to open and build it, or sell it for 5x as much as I paid for it
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
No way one of those is real! Might want to shake that box and make sure you actually have sealed 10179 bags in there and not a bunch of M***B*****!

    If it is real, congrats!
  • sjerakatsjerakat Member Posts: 27
The seals all look completely intact. And the box is quite heavy. The seller owns 3 of them and needed to part with one ASAP because of a cash emergency. I'm sure I will end up tearing the box open and building this beast. It's too sexy and unbelievable to just sell away. Oh the dilemma!
  • jockosjunglejockosjungle Member Posts: 701
If he owns three, he knows its value. I'd open it and check
  • sjerakatsjerakat Member Posts: 27
Well, I sliced open the seals and the set is definitely the real deal! All the trays, boxes, the manual is perfect! And enormous! I'm still in complete awe that I face to face with this set. Considering just a couple days ago I had completely written off ever getting one. Am definitely going to be building this beast and will post a review soon after!

Got a #70703-1 Star Slicer off ebay for £19.99, 100% complete with box. Saved £15.00 off RRP.
Also won a job lot of 3 Galaxy Squad mini-figs with weapons for £7.99.

@theclonetrooper I'm intrigued to know what the 3 GS minifigs you won were. Were they ones from expensive sets I wonder? ;-)
And you got a good deal with that Star Slicer, I must say! Well done with that one ;-)

Bought 2 boxes of lego from local Charity shop. one full of trucks, police lorries etc, the other with the instructions for the Yellow castle 375 on the top!

Update: I started going through the lot. Despite the instructions, there is no Metro station. Also missing the platform (and some figs) for the Metroliner. But the Metroliner itself appears to be complete. I think the other sets are generally all there. So I am not quite as thrilled but I plan to sell the non Metroliner stuff once I can account for how complete they are.

On the plus side, lots of track -- 32 curved, 22 straight, and 2 switches. The switches were the best part. Not sure I need all this track so that may be for sale as well.

Hi @TheOneVeyronian & thanks for your comment, the 3 mini-figs are:-
#gs002 ,he is from either #70700-1 or #70709-1
#gs009 ,he is from either #30231-1 or #70704-1
#gs011 ,he is from either #30230-1 or #70705-1
I think the first mini-fig is from the Space Swarmer & the other 2 are from the poly-bags
but all 3 have weapons & there is a lose bug gun as well....I'm happy enough

Picked up a 50 pound lot off CL for $200. Only one small instruction book but full of minifigs and I've already IDed the #7261 Turbo Tank, #6209 Slave I, and #7259 ARC-170, as well as at least 75% of #4730 Chamber of Secrets (no Basilisk, unfortunately.)

Among other things also found a new, never used General Grievous cape from #7255. Anybody got a Basilisk they'd like to trade for a cape? :-)
  • TheOneVeyronianTheOneVeyronian Member Posts: 1,372
@theclonetrooper Good army builders, those figures. I've ended up with 3 of those gs009 figures, I'm still trying to offload them for £2.25 each. Those polys really have downgraded the value of gs009 and gs011 which would have otherwise commanded silly prices. With weapons and accessories, a pretty good score, the robot is the sweetest of all of them imo ;-) But the Star Slicer wins overall ;-) You can't resist a red bug can you?
