Found an #6086 on Craigslist for $50. It's 100% complete with original box and instructions.

    wow !!!
    Why can't I find a deal like that !!
I was shocked when I went to pick it up. Thought it was gonna be trashed but its in great shape. Box has seen better days but I'm not complaining.

I saw a listing on Goodwill.com for the #4954 creator house still in the box. I figured I would take a shot.Whenever I bid on something on an auction I always figure out the highest price i'm willing to go and set my autobid and walk away. Keeps me from getting carried away and caught up in a bidding war...sometimes I win and sometimes I lose. Well the bidding got crazy and it was getting close to my max and then stopped. I didnt check out the auction for acouple of days and then I got the email that I had won. $86 was my winning bid....not too bad......but then I had noticed why I had won. They had edited the listing the day before it ended. The listing now said that it was just the box and the complete set was not inside and that it contained "A mix of LEGO and other pieces" I was bummed.
The package got here yesterday and to make a long story short I was blown away that it did contain the correct set in all its glory except fo one small piece that was missing which I just happen to have....sorry for the drawn out story. I was just excited that something actually worked out good for a change.

Picked up #7597 from Kijiji (Canadian Craigslist) today for $50. Not a huge deal, but the train was the only Toy Story set I wanted and I was more than happy to get it complete for less than half of Canadian MSRP of $110.

Picked up #1356 #6026 and #8123 all MISB at a toy fair for £8 total. Although have no interest in any of these sets the price seemed fair and I enjoyed the haggle.
  • indigoboxindigobox Member Posts: 470
@greekmick They look pretty cool for £8 :)

I found tons of #2171 and #2257 for 50 cents each! I've read this thread times and was wishing for the day I would find a great deal.

Some would say this is brag-worthy while others might think it is too much for a piece of paper, a pouch, an official tag, and a minifig: I am pretty pumped about my purchase today!
I picked up the 2012 SDCC exclusive Bilbo Baggins with map, pouch, and tag for $57.

@Trenth- Not to be Johnny Rain Cloud, but you do realize the Bilbo Baggins minifigure itself is not exclusive, correct?

If you were specifically after the tag, map, and pouch though congrats on the buy!

Yep I knew that. I am somewhat of a completist, so picked this up mostly for those things you mentioned. Bag End was my first set so I already had the fid, now I have two! Can you believe how high some people are paying for this exclusive? Honestly I had to cringe a little and just press the bid button.
  • TrenthTrenth Member Posts: 162
No way I would pay 150-200.

@Trenth- Phew, good! I understand the "completest" part. In that case, nice find and great buy!

Went to a yard sale yesterday. They had advertised they would have Lego sets for sale. Got there early and was able to get them all. They were in in individual zip lock bags with instruction manuals, but no boxes, which is a bummer. That aside, there were a total of 48 sets including HP, SW, PQ, SH, Hobbit, City, Creator and several others that I paid about $4 each for.

I suppose a brag that everyone could agree on happened a few years ago before I was a member of Brickset. I picked up 7036 Dwarves' Mine for 8 bucks. It was only missing one Dwarf. The box was beat up, but the instructions were fine.

I was really lucky today, my friend who has no interest in LEGO has couple of sealed sets at home which he forgot to sell. I managed to get brickset.com/detail/?Set=7627-1 with a bit damaged box, but everything's sealed and the set has never been opened. And for only 60€. Really good price I guess :)

    #6271-Admirals Ship "Sea Lion"

    #6687-Turbo Prop
    #6523-Ambulance
    #6645-Street Sweeper
    #6850-Auxiliary Patroller

Just need to wash it all to get rid of that "loft" smell now.
I did offer to pay him but he really didn't want anything, he said I was doing him a favour by taking it.
    Couldn't really argue with that!

    I'm assuming you didn't mention the £300/$500 value... :D

    I managed to get :

    #6860 The Batcave
    #6863 Batwing battle over Gotham
#6864 The Batmobile and the Two-Face chase
    #6869 Quinjet aerial battle
#76001 The Bat vs Bane: Tumbler chase

All boxed with instructions, only built once for display and then taken down and bagged etc for £100. I was rather pleased with myself.

Not sure if this is a great find or not but my dad just texted me that this weekend he picked up 3 Lego games unopened and a hero factory bag and is sending it to me. I don't collect this stuff but hey I'll take free Lego!

What modular set should I buy first I cant decide?
  • SuperTrampSuperTramp Member Posts: 1,021
These are my favorite modulars in order

    Green Grocers
    Pet Shop
    Cafe Corner
    Grand Emporium
    Fire Brigade
    Town Hall
    Cinema
    Market Street

So if you cant get the GG or CC i go for the Pet Shop or Grand Emporium.

Today was a good day. I received my packages in the mail that I won on an auction. I was bidding on Fort legorado #6769 .... #6765 and #6766 all used but still with the box. I lost the Fort Legorado by $2 but won the other two. I opened and assembled the #6766 and it was 100% complete...with some extra horses and Indian minifigs. The #6765 was only about 80% complete but it contain most of two other sets....#6755 and #6716. I kind of feel bad for whoever won the Fort Legorado....because most of the minifigs for that set...including all of the Cavalry minifigs were in my box.

Went to the local thrift store tonight. They had a bunch of small bags filled with LEGO and MegaBloks. I recognized some pieces and grabbed a few of the bags. After sorting out all the MB I ended up with a nearly complete Guarded Inn! I'm missing all the minifigs and some weapons but I got the whole building! I'm psyched as I've always wanted this set!

A very lucky find on a boot sale here in Belgium. 3 Classic space sets in very good condition, for only €50! One box has some tape on the side, but that's not so bad.

Was in Target this morning. Checked out the toy "clearance" shelves. Found #9441 (retired) sealed in box in perfect condition for $1.68. Not a major find, but nice to stumble across.

Picked up my Goodwill auction lot this morning that had pieces of Town Plan in it and a quick look before going to work shows that it has what appears to be all of the City Hall building from it new in bags. and I pulled out the move theatre marque and walls with movie posters, the top of the gas station and the fountain and saw most of the figures. No instructions but with all the rest of the lot it looks like it will turn out to be a good buy.

In a somewhat random eBay search I discovered a newly listed Green Grocer for $250, 100% complete with all the instruction books.

Perhaps it wasn't the dark ages after all, but a LEGO "reawakening".

@samiam391 I think the seller screwed up and posted the GG under "buy it now" instead of auction just like with all the other modulars he has up for auction. Great grab Sam.

Been wanting a Santa Fe #10020 for while. Found one on eBay that was open box, but parts still sealed in original packaging, instruction manual and decals for a nice price. Although it's not MISB, I'm very happy with it.

Recently picked up the following Star Wars sets from a Canadian seller. All are in awesome condition, including the boxes and instructions, save for the Imperial Dropship which did not have a box.

    7667 Imperial Dropship
    7201 Final Duel II
    7127 Imperial AT-ST x2
    4483 AT-AT (Black Box)
    10123 Cloud City
    7113 Tusken Raider Encounter

I was able to get all the sets for $470.00 shipped. I think I made out rather well, although the wife may think otherwise...for now.

Won a #4558 Metroliner in an auction for 140 EUR. It has the instructions and the box and apart from 1 bicycle, a few minor parts and a few stickers it is complete and looks to be in great condition. Best part is that it also comes with +2 curved and +9 straight tracks and two switches. Managed to get a #4536 and #4539 on the cheap, too.

Now I 'only' need the Metro Station, the Club Car, the Cargo Station, the Crocodile Loco, the Load and Haul Railroad and some more freight cars and track and I can finally fulfil my childhood dreams. Still such a long way to go.:s
