This weekend I bought an incomplete but boxed Mindstorms Invention System 1.5. Got it for $5 at a yard sale. Looking at ebay, I see the working motor is worth about $35 and the 4 wheels are worth about $20. The other parts are worth a few bucks, too. Seems like a homerun to me.

Great catch today, found it on Dutch Marktplaats. From the Pirates theme the rare 1788-1: Treasure Chest including the original treasure chest shaped box in good condition sent home for €25,00 !!

East Midlands but we travel lots. Mr Gold turned up in sunny Burton-on-Trent!

For those who know the place, he didn't smell of Marmite, I am glad to say!

Found 'Gandalf Arrives' on sale in Maldon Tescos for £6.50 which seemed like a good deal. I bought 2. Also WH smith have a 'till voucher' for £5 off when you spend £12 so I grabbed 6 x series 10 minifigs for £7. Not bad...
Sven - where the hell was this WHSmiths with a box of series 1? I found 'The Entertainer' chain of toy shops often have older series but only back to series 6.

    ^ Nice score.

I just picked up a 40 sealed series 4 CMF's for $1.25 each and a series 1 TIE Interceptor & Death Star planet for $4, from a local grocery store.

Just picked up a Hillside house #5771 at Target (Australia) for $23.80
Box had been opened and taped up, but chceked the contents and it all seemed to be there still in sealed bags.

Hi all. Never the best way to introduce yourself to a new group of people, with a boast, but it's unavoidable!

Had an incredible couple of finds in the past fortnight or so. A couple of weeks ago, I found 2 complete boxes of Series 1 minifigures for sale in a branch of WHSmiths! Not just for sale, on sale too! 50p a packet! I had palpitations for hours afterwards! ;o)

Oh, and then yesterday I found a little figure called Mr Gold too!

    Am rather pleased, oddly enough!

Two complete boxes? Unless the shop has been stuck in a time-warp for the last 3 years then I doubt this... Pictures or it didn't happen!

I dreamt once that I found some series 1 & 2 in a random foreign airport. Waking up was such a disappointment.

Doubt away! Not that I ever feel the need to prove myself to anybody, but...I'll snap them for you later, to prove myself!

Nappy change time for my little girl first, though. Need a photo of that too?

Just won the bid on a 6399 Airport Shuttle Monorail. Final price was 280 EUR. Not great compared to garage sale finds but great price for an auction site. Going by the pictures the set is in very nice condition. Unfortunately it doesn't have the box but the instructions are present. I hope everything will go smoothly and in a few days it will be in my hands. Wish me luck!

There's a huge smile on my face right now.:) I had to share it somewhere.

    #9471 Uruk Hai Army x2
    #9472 Attack on Weathertop
    #9473 Mines of Moria

    #79003 An Unexpected Gathering
    #79010 The Goblin King Battle
    #30213 Gandalf at Dol Guldor

Still running an inventory on the sets but it all looks in great condition, and complete so far. Might be missing 4-5 mini figs altogether. All include instructions (no boxes). Super excited about this as I look through everything.

It's these kind of finds, and the one where a Taj Mahal that was found at Wal-Mart? I think it was late last year? That make me think about how many more awesome sets like UCS MF, Café Corner etc. are out there sitting in the back of a store room forgotten about, and just waiting to be found by an employee and put on clearance.

Expansion pack #6921-1 or #6347-1 (with the switch track pieces)? Either way, nice find if complete and the motor still works!

Absolutely! I went in there, oddly enough, speculatively looking for 'old' CMF- series 5 dwarves, more specifically, to add to the dwarvish kingdom I have been building. Never in a million years expected to find anything as old as series 5 in there.... so finding series 1 was just incredible!

    :o)

I have had some good bargains recently, Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack-£23.00 From Tesco, and Spiderman: Daily Bugle Showdown-£28.00 From Tesco! Not too shabby!

@Oldfan Motor does not seem to be present, but just happens we have at least one extra motor. Hubby hasn't checked yet but he thinks he has one complete set, so our interest lies in the track. No switches found.

Did find many parts to #5590 which we have so we will be able to build the alternate truck.

Congrats! Although I can't believe someone at Smiths really went through and stuck a price sticker on every bag. Must have been a slow day!

So are you planning to share any of your good fortune with fellow bricksetters, i.e. are any of these available for sale/trade?

Not a prize winner but I just scored a good chunk of POTC cannibal escape(minus minifigures) for $3.21 plus $3 off of ebay. Looks like it's mostly just missing the quarter rounds from the shrine thing, the roasting spit and the snakes. Not planning on going for it but it's to good to pass up. Now to wait for the paypal to clear

I managed to win the 3 vehicles from #7783 (penguin sub, Robin's scuba thing and bat boat(?)) from eBay for the sum total of £20 including p&p. Look to be pretty much complete, if a little dusty.

Here's an image of my win: s622.photobucket.com/user/AClover88/media/Capture-1.png.html?sort=3&o=0 i'm not sure if i'll be restoring the set itself using substitutions or as a parts pack but either way it'll be fun to get.

    Really cool find Lost.

It's a bit late, but I once purchased Vezon and Kardas for 9 dollars. Profit? I passed a Makuta for 3 dollars, but I got a Maxilos for 6. Happy times.

My most recent purchase was a factory sealed 6209 for $95.

I also spent 100 (I hate haggling, so I didn't try, although I probably should have) for something that came with a complete Skopio (I think it's at 110?) and a bunch of other complete 2009 sets.

Not a bargain as such but found 6754 family home for £54.99 at local toy store. Not bad for a long since retired set.

Found a Yard Sale ad listing "11 huge bags of Legos." Got there early to get the Legos. Someone had already bought four of the bags, but I managed to get the other seven. The bags were fairly heavy. Weighed them when I got home. Total weight for the seven bags... 65 pounds. Wow, am I happy. Due to holiday weekend activities, I have had to put them in the garage for a few days. The only part that I could easily see was the sail for a 7018 Viking Ship Challenges the Midgard Serpent. So, who knows what I'll find. It's a massive amount of parts. I'm not sure I know where to begin.

No financial brag but a collectors brag. I was sorting out old minifigures out of several older deals that were landed in a big plastic box. Sorting out I found a complete 0016-1: Castle minifigures in reasonable good condition. For a Castle collector like me a huge find !! This is absolutely a real rare set, on Bricklink I found only one for sale.

I found neat Lego Technic storage case for $2 at Goodwill. It is from 1993, about the size of an old laptop and opens like one. It is black with a yellow lid that lifts up to reveal a removable tray. Bottom area is devided and the deviders are customizable.

@Ernst- I clicked on the link, and lo and behold I just got those figures in a large lot of sets I bought! I actually think I have several (roughly 10). I had no idea what they were until reading your post.

Looks like I inadvertently ended up getting a "brag" myself while casually scrolling through this thread! :o)
  • ErnstErnst Member Posts: 133
@samiam391 Great catch, I guess the reason these "sets" get lost is that they get mixed up in lots. Good to see that this way they get "reunited".

Just want to post an update on my find. Got my Lego POTC set in the mail yesterday morning. Turns out it was missing a few more parts then i thought but between my upcoming BL order i'm planning out and my personal collection, i'll be able to rebuild with substitions if i choose to do so. I also plan on replacing the green plants that came with the set with 1x1 round bricks if i rebuild it since the plants are the fragile type.

My first post in this topic and I am really happy with it!
Just found 13 (yes, thirteen!!) #7936 in a small toy shop for 19€ a piece! They only had one on the shelves, I asked if they had more and all the rest was in the small warehouse on the back, still in LEGO shipping boxes! I couldn't believe :)
I ended up bringing some HP, Castle and even Pirates sets to go along.
Makes me wonder what lies in small stores, basically lost, and without people knowing what they have...
