I got the train crossing 7936 Boxed in mint condition in a lot of bulk. Been after this a while but wont pay the £40+ it goes for on Bay. Especially since I got this one in a huge bulk deal for £45. Happy days still sorting it all out now, there is an emerald night train box and instructions so hopefully the train is in this lot too. Fingers crossed!!!

I got set 9494 this morning from Tescos, they had about 10 on the sale shelf for £17 each from£34.97. They said on the label that they are discontinued is this true?

Tesco in Swindon has loads of #75002 AT-RT sets in the discontinued toys section. Surely that's a bit premature?!
  • greekmickgreekmick Member Posts: 710
Can't even bring myself to buy #75002 at the discounted price of £13.50. The set is a bit boring and the minifigs are rubbish.

I bought a massive bag of lego online recently. Very poor picture/description but I took a chance paying £13 for the lot. Only to find the second bag full of LOADS of vintage castle and knights in extremely good condition. I was delighted to say the least! Prob about 4kg worth in total.

Probably just means that Tesco are discontinuing it from their stock list

Picked up my cousins legos before he went into the marines. he gave me:
    -40 bulk pounds
    -about 35 9v straight track
    -about 36 curved 9v track
-10143 in pieces(was complete except missing descriptive black stand)
    -8275 and 8421 in pieces

I threw him 50 bucks his way for his satisfaction. Out of the bulk I salvaged a Sante Fe loco, and a BNSF loco. I sold the death star for about 300 and 365 for 8275 and 8421 as is.

I'd be happy to find even one of those deals. I don't normally shop at Wal-Mart but might have to check it out. Do they normally have the clearance in a separate area, or is it on the LEGO aisle?
  • HokieJoe99HokieJoe99 Member Posts: 351
Some Walmarts will have a separate clearance area while others you might find clearanced sets in the LEGO aisle or in another aisle in the toy section which is where I found these. I don't think you will have much luck at this time of the year if you live anywhere with a lot of people, but keep an eye out for summer clearance posts.

Scored on a Smooth Leia! Bought a used complete #10198 for less than she is worth alone. Easy call since I could see her in the pic ahead of time.

Paid $10 for a lot set of Legos & Duplos on auction. No one else bid against me. Once I received the lot yesterday, I figured out what it was :) #7153 Jango Fett's Slave 1 with the complete minifigs. I have to inventory set still for the ship but I was ecstatic!

Slightly off topic but which barcode scanner app do you guys generally use on your phones? The one I have doesn't show the local price for a product when I'm in a Walmart for example.

The WalMart app has a scanner function when you click into store mode. You also have the option to add items to a list, then you can check availability at other stores as well from that list.
As much as I dislike shopping at Wal-Mart, I do like that app.

^ Just keep in mind that that only works in the iOS version; they have the barcode feature in Android too but for some reason you can't check in store pricing.

@adventure_al - What store did you find that offer in? I am looking to pick up a few of that set, so an offer seems too good to miss.

Just tried it today and got in store pricing on my Android. So maybe they updated it.

I was at my cousin's house the other day and he had a huge bin of Lego he bought for $5 at a yard sale. I went through it, it included over 50 minifigures, and it looks like if I went carefully through it I could put together several complete 90s pirate sets among other things...sigh. Wish it had been me.

I bought a massive box of lego with harry potter sets, Star Wars sets and much more of my friend for £40 (he did offer it to me for free but I refused to take it for free) and it was very heavy with easily a few thousand pieces included :-)

Oh goody. Now I don't have to search for a working scanner every time I'm bargain hunting.

Just got back from a nice trip to Liverpool LEGO store. Ended up getting a reduced Winter Village for £50. I had £20 worth of points available to use so overall around £30. Not bad I don't think. :))

@adventure_al - OK thanks, I will keep a look out on eBay and Bricklink. The set will likely come on sale somewhere in the next couple of months.

Anyway, today I was lucky enough to spot a bag of Lego in a charity shop which I pass almost every day in which I found several sealed polybags, including a couple of set #30059, MTT and plenty of other loose Lego (I have yet to come across very many parts which seem to come from the same set). However, the parts are all in perfect condition and for the price of £1.00, you cannot go wrong really can you?

I tried today and I only got the regular pricing. I tested it on a few clearance items and it didn't show the discounted price.

My local Target doing their own Lego event and giving out free polybags for the kids. A fireman and car poly for boys and the Friends desk and Ice cream stand for girls. We got one each of the Friends for me :) and the fireman ones for each of the boys. This on top of the TRU Wishing Well and keychain.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
^my folks happened across the Target promo and got some of those for my kids too. Well I assume it is the same polys as you got, they didn't tell me specifically what they got. In any event, free Lego!

The Lego store at Rockefeller (NYC) had the WV cottage at 50% off. It is not 50% off retail price because they add a 10% "tourist tax" to every set I think. Still a great deal at $54.99 + tax. I got 2 of them.

I response to @Brickdancer's post a little way above I went deep into one of my storage cupboards to check the Princess Leia from my set #10198 - Tantive IV, just on the off chance that I might have one with smooth hair, and lo and behold:

I am delighted as you can see!

Found technic lego sets #8860 and #8865 in a charity shop yesterday for a £10 not sure if there complete yet though. Had a few good finds of late.
  • coachiecoachie Member Posts: 476
@Hob Bargains still exist there then? A charity shop in Cardiff was trying to sell an #8880 for £50. Guess most just look up stuff on ebay and mark up accordingly.

Are there any Technic collectors left now? Seem to be far fewer than 10 years ago.

I have about 3/4 an 8860 in a bag in my attic if you need any spares. I already have 3!
