Got another Lego haul today thanks to my darling wife and her friend who both do charity volunteering work at the Trussel Trust.
This lot looks to be from the early 90's onwards, at the moment all the boxes are empty as my wife went through it all to remove a quantity of Knex that was mixed in with the Lego.
I do hope that all of the parts for the sets are in the tub as the sorting out will have to wait as I am in the process of redecorating my Lego room and I have had to put the sorting from my last lego buy on hold as well......
Have a look at the pic's of the Lego that I got today & my empty Lego room.
Our main bedroom looks like it should be on one of them real life hoarding programs on the telly because all my Lego is boxed and stacked up leaving a small bit of room to get to the bed!.
Oh BTW this latest lego haul cost me £10.00

They're not really great finds if you're still paying for them, even with vouchers. I used £50 of argos vouchers at the weekend, but it doesn't make my purchases free.

Agreed. I've got RRP stuff for free from lego.com ... using VIP points.

It's not really a brag, since I could have got anything at RRP and used the VIP points.

This seems to be the right thread to ask this. Just found a MISB 4841 Hogwarts Express for about 70 Euro. Is this a good deal?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ lowest sealed on bricklink is ~90 Euro so I'd say thats a good deal.

7662 Trade Federation Tank for $15 at the neighborhood flea market.

O_O Probably best deal I've seen here so far.

I got my #7662 a couple of years ago for £40 but not as good a deal for $15, I got mine from a toy store that had tons of lego and everything was half price, sadly I wasn't too crazy about lego back then but I wish I had liked the batman sets because I could have had the batcave for half price and killer crocs boat for £7.50 I am now kicking myself :(

And I was given mine, yes 'given' by a fellow Bricksetter a couple of weeks ago. I won't embarrass him. ;-)

I bought a bucket of Legos from a kid through a friend (he knew I liked Legos and his nephew wanted to sell his collection). He wanted $40 for the bucket - I thought it was worth it just for parts. It turned out he had complete sets covering Agents, Exo-Force, Rock Raiders, Atlantis and had the Robin/Penguin sub set and the Indy temple escape as well as some creator sets. The bad part was his mother said he had several Indy sets (including Temple of Doom) that he hated and never even opened. Since they were sealed she took them all to Goodwill. I went hoping to find them, but they were gone.... After I put all the sets together I was so overcome with guilt I went back and gave him another $100.... Still a good deal at though.

My mom bid 36€ on a #6211 Star Destroyer on ebay yesterday and got it! It was more or less an accident that she bid at all so at some point she called me and told me "I think I just got a star destroyer for 36€, can you check please?" because she couldn't believe it.
    Now let's hope it arrives.

I managed to get my hands on four Lord of the Rings Ringwraiths and two of their horses for £9.50 (and free postage) yesterday from eBay. Pretty good given that most individual figures sell for around £8.00 on Bricklink and eBay without the black horse. Very happy indeed!

The other day I bought a lot from an older couple who had purchased several SW sets for their grandkids to play with when they were visiting. Kids grew up, time to sell off the old toys. I got:

    #7669 Anakin's Jedi Starfighter
    #7748 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid
    #7753 Pirate Tank
    #8014 Clone Walker battle pack
    #8015 Assassin Droids Battle pack
    #8018 AAT
    #8019 Republic Attack Shuttle
    #8036 Separatist Shuttle
    #20007 Republic Attack Cruiser
    #20010 Republic Gunship
    #8083 Rebel trooper battle pack
    #8084 Snowtrooper battle pack

Some NIB, all with minifigs, most with boxes, and in all about 40 pieces missing (10 that I'll have to order.)

The price tag: $30! I couldn't believe it was true until I was driving away with the sets in my trunk!

    ^ A worthwhile trip then!? :-)

Picked up #10152-1 for $115 from a Craigslist ad. Missing just a couple of minor detail pieces I'm sure we have in our bulk. Been watching the price of these so am totally excited to find it at such a great price. No instructions or box, but wouldn't expect them at the price we paid.

    Death Star 10188 - $130 AUD ($125 USD)

This is what started my collection. I perfect condition Death Star sat on the top shelf of my local KMart Store.

    Dam YOU Death Star!

Found 2 stray 5749 "Creative Building" boxes at Walmart still priced at $15 (Black Friday Lego deal) 5 days after Thanksgiving. I passed on trying to find it on Black Friday, avoiding the madness. There were 2 on the shelf, One was resealed so I left it behind.

We have too much Duplo already, but I could not resist 7880 Big Pirate Ship for about $25... One figure and perhaps some pieces missing, but still qualifies for a great find, I think!

Found a 7597 Western Train Chase at Walmart yesterday for $40. They also had 7596 for $25.

Not exactly a brag, as I didn't actually buy one, but I was mightily surprised to see my local toy shop selling two sealed boxes of #4548 Transformer and Speed Regulator. That set was first released over twenty years ago!

Just found X3 QAR on clearance for $80/each at a local department store. Wife used her new store card and got 15% off on top of 10% off they were running for the day, so it worked out to $61.20 for each one! Now to put them away for a rainy day...this set is WAY too cool not to go up in value!

I went to the Toys R Us by work this week, and saw a city set I had not seen at any other store. It was set #8404, the Transport System. I bought the two they had, which was buy one get one 50% this week. Turns out it is a retired set, (I didn't know this, but you guys probably all do, lol!!) and I was happy to get the two for retail. I plan on building a nice train town, and these will fit in perfectly! They also weren't at the TRU markup, so were at the retail price of $99.99 each.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ nice find. $75 a piece is not bad for that set. It is great for a city setup.

Quite happy with my find today. Went to a discount outlet that sells Argos and shop returns and managed to pick up a new #9516 without minifigs for £20.

Box was battered, but what a bargain for the brick count. Could have had Gungan Sub in a damaged box for £22.50 too, but passed on that.

About two weeks ago i found a listing on Gumtree(AUS) for "A bunch of lego" I contacted them and they said they didn't have instructions but sent me a photo of what they had..

I got the photo.. opened it.. and almost had a heart attack!
    In it was:
    8098 (clone turbo tank)
    7676 (republic Attack Gunship)
    7675 (At-te)
    8096 (emperor palp shuttle)
    8097 (slave 1)
    7673 (magnaguard)
    8018 (aat)
    8088 (arc-170)
    8036 (sep shuttle)
    7656 (old grievous ship)
    7748 (corp alliance tank)
    8083 (rebel trooper)

a 7498 police station and another 3 police sets incl helicopter etc..

2 Pharaohs sets incl the scorpion pyramid..
AND a bag chock full of about 150 mini figs and about another 2kg of random bits n pieces..

And for all of this they wanted the princely sum of $200AUS!!! And they ended up throwing in shipping which ended up being $60 as it totaled about 13kg!

Greatest score i have ever had.
