When i tried to go to the kijiji site, my browser takes me to "ebay classifieds". Is this right? Or is kijiji a seperate entity?

    Oh. My.
    Holy moly.
    Geez Louise.

    imageimage

The string of circumstances that led us to be at the right place at the right time is unrepeatable. This is pretty much the 2007 SW line. Of course there is going to be some incompleteness... But you can see two large bags and both instruction booklets to 7662. It's NINE bags in all. For $1.50 each. And I love my wife. And she loves me for waiting (almost) until we got to the car before I squealed like a small town girl at her first Beatles concert.

    I am still in shock.

Sometimes bragging can come back to bite! My $20 fantastic buy has some twists and turns. It seems we have some small sets that we have no books to, including this one http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=7052-1 as well as 7668 Rebel Scout Speeder, 9490 Droid Escape, and 9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor. Also at least horses and some minifigs are missing from the sets we do have the books for. It remains to be seen if all the parts are there to the remainder of the sets. We're currently building 9474 Battle of Helms Deep. Still there is no doubt it's value far exceeds what we paid for it so there are no regrets.

This is not my success story but an amazing deal I just missed.

Two weeks ago I was getting excited for my favorite garage sale of the year. My mistake was hitting the snooze button-- my BIG mistake. If I got out of bed ten minutes early I would have snagged 7784 the Collector's Batmobile IN BOX for $10. The guy who bought it seemed like a nice guy, just wish he was keeping it instead of reselling it. If you are on here, congrats!

@mrseatle, eBay owns Kijiji. It's been awhile since I last used it, but at one point it did say, "Kijiji" with tiny letters that said "an eBay site". I believe they were in the process of changing over the branding at one point (look of the site I mean) so it's possible they've done that now to make it more obvious that it's an eBay site.

A used 4842 Hogwarts castle, missing only the dementors and a couple of minor bits for £60 shipped. Not half bad in my book.

picked up a 7957 7961 and 8038-1 All with boxes and instructions for a great deal today on Kijiji.

No super-fantastic deals for me yet since I've only been back to the hobby for such a short time - but I did buy a new 7956 Ewok Attack for 10€ today, the last one in the store.

And a while ago I ordered 8x 7949 and 5x 7950 from a clearance for army-building purposes at a total of 55,8€ (inc. shipping), hopefully getting them today or tomorrow. Postal service's been so slow lately. Anyway, apparently the sets had been sitting there for quite some time. It's a good amount of soldiers for the price, roughly equivalent to the chess set in terms of manpower - but of course I get the carriages, horses and catapults too! The normal price for the sets would've been around 130€ inc. shipping here. Together with the chess set, I now have plenty of soldiers for my planned Castle scene. Just not the terrain pieces and possibly not enough buildings...

Small brag : the 6263 Imperial Outpost sent home for € 26,75. Again another step closer to a complete Pirates theme !!

Just picked up Jabba's Sail Barge and an Imperial Dropship for $50. Sail Barge is complete, but only the barge (no skill or Sarlacc). Also only Jabba, Leia, and R2. Dropship has all four figs.

I got comfortable with the Barge by itself after seeing what mostly completely sets go for on eBay and knowing that I will be picking up the new Palace and Skiff this summer, which will have all of the missing figs. Seemed like a great way to get the item I really wanted -- the Barge itself -- for a reasonable price.

The Dropship was the cherry on the sundae. Seller originally thought he had all figs. When he realized he didn't, he offered me the choice of 10% off the price or either the Dropship or Rebel Transport. $5 for a Dropship sold me.

I found a boxed 6623 police car at the sally anne today at lunch for 99cents. I couldn't believe it. I just ran in on a whim as I had some banking to do and it was on the shelf with some glassware.

Traded 250 LP records for 55 lbs of Lego via Kijiji. Some instructions including Fort Legorado, some old star wars, Naboo, Tie Fighter and Y wing, Anikans Pod racer, Xwing, A wing and book 2 of the new MF 7965. Have yet to see any evidence of that set being here. Cleaning and sorting time! (yes i enjoy it..lol)

Vancouver Kijiji sucks. Only overpriced "discontinued" sets available. Its funny how people put up newly released sets and describe them as "rare or not available anywhere".

This one time, at band camp...

    Oh wait, wrong thread.

Last week I snag a 7153 for $60.00. Included instructions, Jango and Boba. All in great shape. Good deal for me.

I think I did well, but I haven't collected or even watched the IJ theme before:
I picked up a used, complete (pieces, instructions, minifigs, no box) 7623 Temple Escape for $35 via CL. Looks like a very fun set.
  • dimefielddimefield Member Posts: 314
There was a drawer full of lego with motors on Kijiji here at the same time yesterday for FREE.. didnt get an answer on that one. Seems its getting tougher all the time to find deals but just when you give up.. you get one! Found a bag with about 250 minifigures in it and 18 horses, white, black and brown. Lots of technic sets and numerous little Lego System sets.

Wasn't from a Tesco employee was it?? :o)

By today's standards, it sounds like a VERY bad deal in my book.

Not actually a deal, I brought the Batcave and a bit from Banes Drill thing was missing, called Lego up, said they would send me a replacement, cue the post yesterday , the package felt heavy for just a normal brick, I opened it and found they sent me a free, I repeat FREE Darth Vader keyring :D

^Great steal. Almost $1 a pound... nothing to sneeze at.

Just scored a Cloud City Leia for approximately $30.

Got a 8652 Ferrari Enzo complete with box, only 1 sticker applied and the rest unused on sticker sheet for $15 and a 7471 Mars Exploration Rover for $20 with box missing a couple small pieces and the 2 95mm flex cables which will be the hardest thing to replace.

Small brag. I won a lot of 45 minifigs for 48.00 and in the lot are 2 official Boston Red Sox baseball players that go for about 20.00 each on Ebay.

Can you spell V.i.n.t.a.g.e.? These came with about 7 lbs of vintage Lego from an estate sale around the corner, along with an early metal matchbox store and garage plus an old metal Chevrolet and car lift. In the bulk are the pieces to the vintage Lego garage. The boxes still had the items in them and the brochures were still in as well. There was no box to the street lights in the background, and the items on the very back right are not lego. There is also a lot of lego wheels and that sweet little Mercedes car and it's lego box in the back right. At almost any price this would have been a steal, but at $20 we should feel really guilty except all their items were under priced. Isktokg, can you tell me what I have here, date wise?

^ Thanks. Yes, I have to say if hubby were in the dog house (he's not at the minute) this would have gotten him out . The little Mercedes is worth more than we paid for the whole lot with it's original garage/box.

Hi all - got back from a tag sale where we scored a big dusty box for $5. In it, a dirty but 3 pieces shy of complete 3420, a soccer game from 2002, and a weird Message intercept base 6987...so far. More pieces to sort through, as things are dirty but pretty thrilled! Feeling extra lucky today.

@AFFOL_Shellz_Bellz Check out Bricklink, a really great score there.

    http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=230-2 year 1958
    http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=231-2 year 1956

    http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=237-1 year 1960

Isktokg may know the Mercedes and the box with number 400.

Had a great deal myself too, I found set 1620-2 Chocolate Factory for only €26,50 sent home. Stickers are missing unfortunatly but still a great deal, esspecially for someone from the Netherlands like me. It is a typical Dutch set being a promotional release from Chocomel/Nutrica Holland.

I scored 8877 yesterday at goodwill. Bricks are still in plastic numbered bags. Instruction is included but no box. The problem is that it's missing #4 bag.

Any recommendation to go about #4 bag? I can only think of bricklinking #4 bag.

BTW, there is no brick list in the back of the instruction. Interesting...
  • OldfanOldfan Member Posts: 707
^Bricklists in the instructions are a fairly new development; sets older than ~5 years may not include them in the instructions. This probably helps to explain all the inventory sites that came along in the early 2000's (i.e. Peeron, Bricklink, etc.); we OCD types just have to know! Plus, it helps to verify that all those old sets you have are complete...

    Wow! Guess it was a much better buy than we thought. We feel very privileged to be the recipients of these wonderful old toys. Hubby has already built the garage! Our Mercedes is complete with windshield, steering wheel, and garage, (few are complete, none on bricklink right now are) and Istokg says it is this;

Wish every one on the forums could find such wonderful deals!

Apologies for second post but it's to help not brag! @kim43235 here is link to inventory of 8877, sorry it's not by bag, but by crossing off what is in bags 1-3 you can see what you are missing. Good luck!

A fluke... or a gift from heaven above? Congrats on that one, I usually have to pay through the roof to obtain mine!

She won't give it to me D: She keeps it in a little case, when she first told her it was so rare, she said she would keep it, now she refuses to trade/sell for me, should of kept my mouth shut :P
