went in to Birmingham town centre last monday as the lego dhop opened back up popped down stair in the Bullring to the Disney store where they had 2X #76108. On sale for £62 pounds. The boxes were damaged so asked if they could do any thing on price and they reduced to £52 each. I brought both I think its an absolute steel very chuffed.

Does buying a random bag of train parts for €20 and finding the locomotive from #4536 Load 'n Haul Railroad, the wagon from #4537 Twin Tank Transport, 30 9V tracks (about half of them straight) + transformer, controller and rail clips and about 70% of #4547 Railroad Club Car (including only half of the trans clear hinge panels) and half of #6267 Lagoon Lock-up (with slightly broken 6 x 24 black plate) plus some more 9V train parts count as a great deal or not? I'm inclined to say yes but can't help but thinking it could have been sooooo much better... :-D

At least the train still runs ;-)

Sounds like a great deal... of work to restore it all to its former glory.  Get to it!

I've only done a quick check but restoration of the club car would take me around €80 (depending on part quality and which parts I still have lying around) which is still way less than even the cheapest available on Bricklink! Of course, then I would have to buy me a Metroliner too, hmm... I might sell those parts but the kids vetoed that idea :-(

Depending on where you bought those parts, check back to see if they have any more. I've had random bags of parts from Savers similar to what you describe, and found other bags there a few days later that filled the gaps.

I managed to buy #41108, with box open but bags sealed, stickers in sheet, perfect instruction manuals, for 30€. I couldn't resist it, it just looks so fresh, it will be a great addition to the Heartlake neighbourhood.

Found on Craigslist for $70. Probably the best deal I will ever get.
Includes what appears to be mostly complete Airport Shuttle, Black Seas Barracuda, Caribbean Clipper, and various other 90s pirate sets.

Pretty stoked. I love the modulars, but have fallen behind as I've cut back on Lego spending and it's hard to justify large set purchases in general with the wife. So I'm always on the lookout for great deals.  Over the past 1-2 years I don't find the same deals as I did the 1-2 years before that, but patience does pay off.

Saw Facebook Marketplace post for "Lego Creator Expert Sets (Prices Vary) Adult Owned" with $200 marked out to $100.  Had listed Bookshop $125, Corner Garage $150, Assembly Square $225, Treehouse $180, and a couple small sets for $10 a piece.  I have AS and TH.  So I asked if BS was $100.  She said someone was coming to pick them all up.  I was bummed.  A few hours later she said they didn't show and I could have the BS.  I asked more questions like verifying the price, where located (no box or instructions which she already stated). Also said I might be interested in Garage and how much for that. Response was a little confusing but sounded like BS $100 and if I take both $200, but she had someone coming that night to pick them up.  I was like, dang it!. Said I'd be interested in both for $200. Later that night she said the person never showed and the two sets mine.  Couldn't believe they fell through twice.

Went to pick them up today.  Looked in pristine condition.  They were sitting side by side and I recognized the two smaller sets sitting behind them.  There were a bunch of minifigs so I was like which figs go with the buildings?  She said I can just have the other sets as well.  Alrighty then!  So for $200 I got #10264, #10270, #60253, #60257.  No manuals, but already ordered both from BL.  Took apart the two small sets tonight.  Need to work on the other two.  Building them is most of the fun.  Also discovered 8 additional minifigs included.

The two small sets are neat.  Never thought I'd get #62057.  It's pretty neat and I like the car builds but it's over priced even for a City set.

So now I'm only missing Downtown Diner and Police Station since Palace Cinema.  I'm a happy camper.

I'm slightly baffled that an adult collector wouldn't know the value of sets she only bought in the last couple of years. I guess she might have needed some quick cash (probably to go on the run for murdering the first two guys). Great for you. But just baffling.

Some people have no idea of the relative value of these things.  I've found people expect either eBay Buy-it-Now prices, or they just assume used stuff isn't worth anything.

I had a Facebook Marketplace seller try to re-price an Admiral Thrawn set while I was picking it up.  That's always fun.

I picked up a #60233 Donut Shop Opening for $25 tonight through FB Marketplace. It was only missing a dozen common parts, but included the box and instructions.  I remember thinking it was a great set when it came out a few years ago, but not worth the MSRP of $90.

  I picked up a lot from facebook marketplace today. This collection was sold to me by an eight year old who wants to get into a different hobby. I tried to talk him into keeping it, but he was ready to move on. He did keep his death star.

My two boys and I spent an hour looking and sorting. I am pleased with the value. I paid $800 for the lot.

I’m surprised his parents were okay with this, assuming they weren’t in financial troubles.  I’m okay with my kids pivoting interests but I’m not sure I would encourage / support them in trying to sell their toys.

When I was eight years old, I had, hmm, let me count ... maybe $60 worth of Lego, US RRP?  I valued it more than life itself!

Can an 8 year old even build half of those sets? Maybe Mom or Dad was the huge Lego fan? Even if the child started building when he was five...that’s a lot of Lego for a three year collection. More than a lot of people here on the forum buy in three years.

Maybe the parents told the kid that if he wants to get into a new hobby, he needs to get rid of the LEGO to make room. If he has access to that much money, directly or maybe a lot of family/friends who give him stuff, then even a large house could get pretty full.

Scored an FB marketplace buy of Speed Champions Lamborghini set, Jaguar set, Audi Quattro, Ferrari F8, Nissan Nismo, Senna, Porsche, Ferrari & Chevvy for £40. Only missing the starter gates for the lambo & jag sets, well happy with that 😊

Sets were delivered in a McLaren F1.  Took 33 trips to do it, and the Star Destroyer was strapped to the roof.  

No biggie.

I buy the occasional local bulk lot because I strangely enjoy piecing models together without spending a lot of money. I bought an expensive lot the other week which had virtually no complete minifigs. It was super disappointing until I started finding the parts for a flawless Iron Patriot. I have been looking for one for 3 years!

(31) 1-gallon Ziploc bags of used Lego @ $1/bag, mostly newer City & Marvel. Owner was a young kid ready to leave Lego & at least 2 bags worth were chewed/gnawed parts (never seen anything like it) luckily mostly easily replaceable basic bricks but some torsos/legs were tossed 😫😫  His dad must've mixed in a few of his Classic Space sets.  I literally cried for joy.

^ I have #6952. It's a great Classic Space set. Solar Power Transporter? How? Is it just a big battery? ...Who cares? It's just fun! Lots of cool parts, and I always liked the grey/ trans green color scheme.

My wife got a lead on her former student's little brother's collection & she asked the kid"s mom what SHE thought was fair...she said $1/ gal baggie. 🤣🤣🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️


Also I'm in early negotiation stages with my regular Lego connection/pusher for a bunch of Castle/Pirate/random Technic...had no clue that stuff cost so much...may have to take out a 2nd mortgage.

When sourcing that mortgage, be sure to check what that kid’s mom is offering for closing costs and interest rate :D

Better choice is probably a Home Equity Line of Credit, so there is some flexibility for future acquisitions...
