I own that set, and many more from that era. The part was pretty common in those days (80-90ies). Do wonder why Lego stopped using that kind of hinges, though!

also: iirc, the motorcycle is supposed to be blue (or maybe black, but not red?!)

Yep, he didnt have/couldn't find the blue, luckily I have spares. I have a blue body but need a blue front fork, however the only BL one is in Hong Kong

Found a new poly on Facebook. It comes in a new DK Ninjago build your own adventure book. Got 20 for the price of 4 books.

A separate front fork? If my front fork was separate from the body, the motorcycle was broken?

Managed to buy this today for just 50p, I would love to know which train it is.

It got me wondering if any of you have ever found an amazing Lego bargain before and if so I would love to hear about them.

Also why is it that you seem to find exactly what you were looking for when you've already bought it. Last month I bought a set of power functions to use with my winter train, and now I find myself in possession of another set for just 50p.

I think you're right PJ, thank you for working it out for me. Trains are not my usual area of interest, until today I only owned the winter one. :D

    50p !!!
Where on earth did you get that for 50p?

£40 would be an absolute minimum on Ebay. Somebody is even asking £400 fo one....

Yes 50p, the box actually had a 20p sticker on and I thought it was per part so asked how much for the box, the lady said 20p. I said no that's too cheap and she refused to take more than 50p for it. It was a local community sale in the UK. (Actually very close to your location)

I found the #8865 Testcar in the tiny local store of an old lady for just 65€. Guess it was in her basement for the last 30 years. I would really love to know if there is some more but unfortunately she was not very talkative.

For those that remember, about 5 months ago, I had a bunch of bricks with an incomplete 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer. Now, I had to have this new batch, since it contained another incomplete 10030 and an incomplete 10134 Y-wing UCS for only 35 euro. My only mistake, this one is light bluish grey, while I need light grey... Should I combine these colours into one star destroyer? Are there people who have light grey parts and want to trade?

IIRC some Star Destroyer shipped as a mix of both grays as the color change happened during its lifespan. I personally dislike them mixed though. The older gray looks dirty paired with bley.

^^ Hmm. Which set had an integrated DVD player?

@Astrobricks Nice spotting! Cant you remember the ever-so-elusive 'build your own dvd player' from 2005? It came in a superbox: the front cover and the star destroyer got you an excellent 1:1 model of a dvd player, no stickers included!
In all seriousness, I just saw it and removed it, also with the gigantic marble collection and other random plastic toys. (not the pen, that is to update my wanted lists).

Side topic (since this came up recently at a lunch outing for my LUG): did 10030 include both old and new gray in the same box or was it always one or the other?   (I thought they had mixed them in the same box but others felt it was either old gray or new bley only)
  • BeauBricksBeauBricks Member Posts: 19
@JCool All the binoculars are light grey, while attached to light bluish grey parts. There are more light grey parts, but I cannot tell with 100% certainty that they were from 10030. The old batch had too many different sets in there, so I could not tell.

I was able to pick up set #75919 for $40 on FB Marketplace. It's missing the minifigs and a few pieces, which I bricklinked for another $20. It's got the Indominus Rex, so I figured it was a good deal.

    How do you post pictures?

When editing, there is a little picture icon (along with others) just above the edit box. The hint says you can also drag and drop (on a PC).

My brother picked up UCS BB-8 from Argos yesterday for £48 (he also had his Sainsburys staff discount too). Only snag, was finding it short of a piece.

^ That... would be the arm of a Power Miners rock monster. Feel free to interpret its shape however you desire, though.

Looks like it's most of #79110 Silver Mine Shootout sans figures and loose elements. Very good set. Some random parts like a Millennium falcon hose too.

Ah yes! Didn’t even occur to me; that’s a set I’ve always eyed up! Thanks for that.
