Help needed - Organizing a LEGO show on a small scale

greekmickgreekmick UKMember Posts: 710
My son put forward an idea at school council meeting to have a LEGO show to raise funds and wondered if anyone had any experience in organizing such a thing. Although I am locally known as the LEGO nerd, I know nothing really.

I guess a few sellers won't be hard to contact but who do I approach regards to people showing proper MOC's. If its not something that can work on a small scale I will tell them to forget it.

Any help appreciated.

we've had some small scale "shows" in conjunction with local events - free comic book day and the local comiccon come to mind. what worked for us was to choose a theme. in both of the above, comics is the easy theme, so have comic/tv/movie inspired mocs. additionally we had a speeder design (it was in the last issue of brickjournal as i recall), distributed the instructions to the club, and then had the mocs in a race during the weekend. we're going to one up it at our april display, having the public vote on the speeders and then deciding a winner at the end of the weekend.

Try contacting your local LUG and your LEGO store if you have one close by. In small event like this I have seen LEGO store providing previous mini build (bricks and instructions) as give away.
