^ Thanks. Looks like it's down for everyone. We're trying to resolve it ASAP.

^ It would seem to be fixed.

Was not able to get to forum for a while from home was it down? At work for upgrade this evening and seems to be OK just wondering if Comcast DNS is FUBAR.

My LEGO shop Link doesn't work. :-( How can this be fixed.
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
Seems like they've ditched the Brickset landing page. I'll change it to land at the home page.
  • NeilJamNeilJam Member Posts: 272
Haven't been able to load brickset.com at all for the past two days. It had been slow to load for a couple weeks, with intermittent failures. No problems with the forum.
  • PaperballparkPaperballpark Member Posts: 4,270
Must be something at your end, as I've had no problems with it at all.
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
I've not heard any widespread problems.
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,477
seems to be back up now
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
A careless deployment was to blame for that. I'll be more careful next time :-)

Brickset still won't load on my computer with any browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox), but will work using my WiiU. Can anyone give me suggestions to fix this on my computer?
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
What happens exactly? Can you post a screenshot?
  • NeilJamNeilJam Member Posts: 272
Here is the error message I am getting. I'm sure brickset has been allowed on adblock and anything else I could think of.
  • asmodaiasmodai Member Posts: 16
I stopped receiving amazon discounts on the news for some time. I checked my profile and everything seems active. Was there any change? Or just haven't been any discounts?
  • NeilJamNeilJam Member Posts: 272
Don't know why, but the site works again on my computer.
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
    ^ Weird, I've changed nothing.

    ^^ Which country?

  • asmodaiasmodai Member Posts: 16
^ Portugal (has been that way for about two weeks)

I've already flagged this to @Huw, but is the Brickset main site completely inaccessible for anyone else? It's logged me out (I'm normally on a perpetual login), it won't let me log back in, saying that my username/password was invalid (they're both correct) and now I can only load a completely white screen.

EDIT: Never mind, it seems to have just fixed itself. What did just happen?

^ No main site issues for me - working fine.
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
It's about 30% busier than usual and I have seen some database timeouts. If they don't clear overnight I'll restart the server in the morning.

Works for me now. Had issues this morning.

@CapnRex101 The thumbnails for the preview articles are compressed. It might just be me so you might want to check yourself.

@Adzbadboy‌ - Thanks for notifying me. I will see what I can do.
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
That screenshot was taken right in the middle of when I was updating that section, I think the Capn and I must have been tripping over each other as I had just replaced the ones you show with lovingly created edits to meet the available space :-)

I don't know if this is an issue or not. I've never encountered this before:

I googled brickset, clicked the search result, but instead of going straight to the site as normal, I encountered some sort of 'in-between' screen saying it was 'checking browser' or something like that.
I didn't stop to read it but just came away fast, in case the site had been compromised and this 'checking' screen was a trick to make me pause while it does nasty things.

Anyone else had something like this? Is it normal?

  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
I had problems getting on this am too.
  • diodramadiodrama Member Posts: 19
Same here - checking browser please wait 5 secs
  • PeteMPeteM Member Posts: 447
Me too (Firefox on Mac and on Safari on iPhone) - says it's a "DDoS protection by Cloudflare". Only happens the first time I visit, then doesn't do it for a bit...
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
Not sure why it's happening so frequently at the moment but I can confirm that the screen is genuine - Brickset uses Cloudflare for content distribution and protection.

suddenly getting it on many other cloudflare sites, too. maybe some shit is going on atm messing with cloudfare protected sites so they had to enable that annoyance

I keep being asked for my user name and password as I go from section to section. Like every time is a 'new' site visit. Also, I can't log in at all on my iphone.

What gives? I need my fix!
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
Are you talking about the forum or the main site?

There are no no known issues with login to the latter at the moment.
  • margotmargot Member Posts: 2,308
I have problems on my IPhone too, I have to log in every time. Didn't have to previously.

Help. I have been trying to sign-up in the main site of brickset.com but all I'm getting is
"User registration is currently unavailable". I was able to sign in the forum though as new member. Thanks
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
Drop me an email at [email protected] and I'll sort you out.

I've had to block people connecting via IP addresses in certain countries from signing up because of a spam problem.

I Just noticed in the parts inventory for a set it seems that the number for a given part is capped at 200. For example, in #10181 Eiffel Tower there are 254 1x4 fences and 304 2x2 corner bricks but both of these are listed at just 200 in the Brickset database. Seems worthwhile to try and correct.
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
That's an oddity of the LEGO customer service site.for some reason no set has more than 200 of any one part. We don't tweak the inventories here, as you know, so we'll have to live with it.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,727
Weird. Seems like that would cause a host of problems for them to have such bad data. Thanks for the info though

Yes I experienced this problem, coincidentally enough while bricklinking #10181. Generally LEGO customer service only allows for ordering 200 of a given part. All I did was to mention that I was building the Eiffel Tower and required 256 fence pieces and it was not a problem. Not sure you can exceed 200 pieces without speaking to a rep.

Just had a problem accessing brickset main site moments ago (13.20 UK time), a holding 'error' page pinged up, which read 'error 502' (or something like that), and it said that myself and cloudflare were running, but host site (brickset) wasn't.

Tried again a few seconds later, and brickset loaded in as normal, but slowly.

seems to be an intermittent problem at the minute
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
It started misbehaving after I did an update to the code. I rebooted the server and it seems OK again now.

The collection summary is having some small issues with a few set counts.
My Marvel Super Heroes sets, according to cs, 36, viewing sets I own, 39.
My Star Wars sets, according to cs, 16, viewing sets I own, 21.

Gear, product collections etc. are not included in the totals. Could that explain it?

No, the only items displaying when I click through are sets/polybags, I'll list off the SW list as its the smaller one:
All the sets in series 1 & 2 of the Microfighters, polybags #6966, #30244, #5002122 & #5002123, plus five of the six ComicCon/Celebration Microfighters.
