The overnight import from BrickLink failed. I've just re-imported so they should now be shown.

Thanks, @Huw. My fig count is back up to 829.
  • OdeinoichusOdeinoichus Member Posts: 361
At least this error showed that my minifig number was off, somehow I owned a loose one that I did not actually own. Really odd that, hope this error won't repeat in the future.

Did someone turn Brickset off and on again?
    All good now!

I've been out today so hadn't noticed but will check the logs for clues.

We pay him in compliments and free Lego, do we not? And what about all that advertising revenue?
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
When the site is down, there's no ads. See, there is a bright side to everything!
  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,564
Can we turn off autocorrect in the search box? Not sure if this is platform dependent or not. I’m usually on an iPad. For example, when I typed “vw golf” as my search text I ended up searching for “wow golf”.
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,119
It'll be your browser that does that I believe.
  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,564
You’re probably right, but I could swear that on some sites they’ve found a way to prevent it for certain data entry fields. For example, fields where you enter your name.
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
If not browser, it'll be the software keyboard. Not 100% sure about iPad, but it certainly is on Android as you get different autocorrects/predictions between the AOSP Android Keyboard, Google Keyboard and Swiftkey.

Again, not used iPads much, but it may be possible to turn off annoying suggestions. On Swiftkey, if it does an autocorrect you don't like, just back the cursor up to the offending word, then where the autocorrect predictions sit at the top of the keyboard, long press the one you don't like and 'remove from predictions'. Might be worth looking into whether iOS has a similar feature.

Seems to be down again, getting CF error...
  • MaffyDMaffyD Member Posts: 3,579
Having issues with loading images this morning - some loading fine others loading very slowly and some not at all (getting the placeholder 'cross'). That's on articles and in the database.

Seems this thread would be better served to have sub-threads if this is a place to comment/offer-suggestions on specific site issues and not just "site up-time status". Two-cents deposited. ;P
  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,564
^ Except @Huw is so good at site maintenance that problems don’t last long enough to deserve their own threads :)

I seem to be missing the "Prices" tab on many sets... probably fairly recent ones? Like #71040 is fine and has prices for all countries, but #70920 has no prices tab at all... I first noticed this during the weekend for a set I don't recall, but am now noticing this at least for the wave 2 TLBM series - maybe more?
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,119
LEGO has removed the page we used to use to gather the prices so I'm currently unable to do so.
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
Ahh, that explains! I was wondering how you were getting the data - evidently not by scraping. Shame, it's pretty useful to me (as the Belgian prices are usually a fair bit higher than the German ones Brickset uses).

Same here; that Prices tab helped me find the sets with the largest difference between Benelux and German prices to then pick up when visiting a Lego store in Germany...

  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,119
Yes it was by scraping, for countries for which an affiliate feed is not provided. But the undocumented search page that showed a particular set with availability and price in every country has gone.

There is a JSON service that provides the data now but unfortunately insufficient for my purposes  -- loads of prices, but no identifying country, which is no good in the Euro-zone.

Sorry if there is a dedicated thread for this:
In the news email today, the links for the “What’s hot this week” don’t work. I assume this should be easy to fix.

Clicking the "discussions" tab no longer works and says "no discussions found".

In particular, you need to either change the drop down at the top to "All" instead of "Followed", or you need to "follow" the categories you are interested in. I think there may be a reported bug of it not saving your choice when set to "All" but I cannot confirm.

Getting issues today when trying to add wanted sets (sad!) to my Brickset listing. The page for the item loads ok, but clicking on either the "Own" or "Want it" boxes does not register - reloading the page shows the box unticked again. On reloading the page it works OK, and also multiple listings in (for example) a theme seem to work normally when ticking these boxes
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,119
Seems OK to me. Let's put it down to a transient issue but do let me know if it still happens.
  • CathyVTCathyVT Member Posts: 150
When I click on the Alt Builds button for a set (happens for all I try), it just stays blank below the buttons. I've tried both firefox and Chrome. I know it was happening yesterday, and now today.

  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,119
    Working again now, I believe...

    Thanks!

Since the prices tab for more recent sets is gone, is it possible to add a field in the ACM with 'local RRP' or something. I know I could add it in notes, but I already use the note field to specify which minifig is missing or what freebie I got with the set.

I can imagine this is not a quick and easy thing to do, but I can imagine it would come in handy for quite some people. Not only because the prices in other countries like Belgium can be significantly higher, but also because for certain sets even the German price is sometimes the one at the end when TLG offers it on sale (and then doesn't have stock).

Actually the prices tab seems to be back, did you find a way to do it Huw? That's great, thanks!

Still, it might be a handy feature nevertheless, so you can easily make calculations in your preferred spreadsheet.

That sounds like the kind of response someone would give if they're surprised it's happened, only noticed because it was raised with them that it was fine again, but they decided to claim credit anyway and hope no-one notices ;)

The LEGO link, Argos and Bricklink pages on this page aren't working, unless there are no new sets at shop.lego.com, or no discounts at Argos or bricklink. Clicking view all above just gives "No items found".

Amazon and Smyths are working as expected though.
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,119
The overnight imports failed for some reason. I'll re-run the LEGO one now, the others can wait until tonight.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,728
@Huw  The main site has set #60202 listed but no minifigures associated with it. Why is that? Bricklink does list all 14 on it's site though.
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,119
Importing minifig data from BrickLink requires a manual process that I normally do on a Sunday night. I've been away the last two so haven't done it for a while.

Assuming the set has been inventoried recently they should appear once I do it this weekent.
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,728
Wow, I thought it was imported automatically. That's a ton of work considering all of the new sets they bring out each year.
  • FodderFodder Member Posts: 360
Should this be happening? I’m using the mobile site, and should be logged in...
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,119
Yes. That's necessary for GDPR for the affiliate network that Lego uses. It's only shown to visitors from the EU.
