@Huw......Brilliant! I think in the short time the prank (or not) has been posted, you can gauge from the response so far that it's caused a bit of a buzz. Fantastic!

Although half of the responses have been from people in-the-know.

I'm a tiny tiny fish who's not being doing this long, but there are a fair few names I've not seen in the forum who are genuinely excited, but don't know whether to believe it or not. Imagine waking up to this (USA) and seeing this news before midday. Huw's news (prank or not) is going to spread throughout the Lego community now and I think the Brickset website is going to receive considerably more hits than usual over the weekend with members eagerly checking for updates.

WHAT!!! There's a forum, why didn't anyone tell me???

I had to delete a post or two so far. And imperial13 seems to be Huws accountant or something. :o)

It's actually a priviledge watching it unfold. @Huw - thank you. Small minds and all that!

Brilliant idea @Huw! I was a bit confused that nobody mentioned the forum's actual existance in that news thread, and then it dawned on me that it's still being kept a secret for an official confirmation! ;) It can be found with a quick google of "brickset forum", I think you'll have to make an announcement soon or people will spill the beans! :)

So, the cat is out of the bag already?

Someone else posted a link and it goes straight to here. :-)

Yep - someone posted a link and others have picked up on it. I dropped Huw an e-mail to let him know....

Yeah, the bricksetforum.com is not working but the posted URL going to the site does. Unfortunately that bypasses the forum intro splash screen. I'm going to delete the comment with the URL while we wait for an official announcement

Well, just as I go to do that, I see the forum appears launched :p

Yes, Dr D emailed to say the cat was out the bag so I decided to launch a few hours earlier than intended. I've deleted the direct link.

so…. Was the Thor set #76207 the April Fools’ Day joke? Or was there none today… Asking for a friend.

Congrats on reviving an 11 year old thread!

I don't think there was one today, sadly. I came on this morning specifically looking for one.

    Holy necro-post, Batman!
The April Fool's joke of 2022 was the friends we made along the way (and the Friends we literally made along the way. This is a LEGO forum, after all).

I figured it was better to revive the old post rather than create a new one. As @Huw knows, I have a habit of resurrecting old posts. I saw the Brothers-brick April Fools’ post here. No others though. I figured maybe the invasion of Ukraine may have tempered the humor a bit.
    Thoughts?

By the way, this was a thread made in the FIRST MONTH of the Forums existence.
It’s come a long way, baby.

I believe Jay's Brick Blog did one about Goats being in the Build a Minifig bins in Aus Lego stores.

LEGO did a 170cm tall maxifigure, not too bad.

Eurobricks did probably the worst one ever - that they have lifted the block on Barracuda Bay style pirate sets on IDEAS. Rather niche and really very funny.

It was actually made in the forum’s second month of existence.  ;)

did a roundup of all the April Fools day posts
By which you mean what? That you read them all, or you compiled them somewhere for others to enjoy?

Sorry! It was another website that did the roundup. So I posted for people and then it seemed rude to refer people to another website. So I tried to cancel the post but couldn't, all I could do was edit out the website name and hope no one noticed...but

In that situation, many people just edit it to “deleted” or even “.”
For a while I was using “Nice”, which was a bit of an inside joke about a former(?) member who hadn’t really grokked the Like button :)
