For Sale: Website & Stock (UK only)

It is with regret that I am in a position where I may have to sell my website and all associated stock. New work commitments mean that I can no longer give the website the attention it deserves.

I have been operating the website for 11 months and have (in my opinion) been fairly successful. I will supply detailed financial information to anyone who shows serious interest.

Here is a brief description of the sites history and the fee structure it currently operates on.

www.brick-a-brac-uk.com
The site operates on the Shopify platform
Transaction fees are 1% of the transaction value + payment processing fees. Currently Nochex with 2.9%
Shopify charge a monthly fee for hosting the site. This is variable depending on the plan chosen. This fee is paid for until 31st May 2015.
The domain expires shortly but will be automatically renewed for a further year when it is due to expire.
The site has a facebook page with over 240 likes and a twitter account with 70 followers.
The site is responsive and has a mobile theme which works on apple/android devices.
There is also an android app which has had over 500 downloads.
596 orders have been placed in the last 11 months.
There are over 300 subscribers to the mailing list.

Full details of google analytics data as well as all advertising costs/affiliate revenues can be discussed in detail to serious parties.

Turnover from the last 90 days has been £14.5k, from 11.5k visitors, from 293 orders. This gives an average transaction value of just under £50.

I will remain involved in selling Lego, but that will just consist of using my wife's ebay account for a small variety of sets. If the site does not sell I will continue to operate it but will no longer continue to grow the range and will slowly lower the volume of sales.

This decision has not been taken lightly and is in no way due to me not being pleased with the results so far or a perceived lack of progress. I am in fact gutted that this, for me at this moment in time is the most sensible option for my family and me.

The volume of stock that is currently held is in the region of £18-20k sales value. The price I will be selling the stock for will for the most part be for the amount I paid for it in the first place. I, like many others am fairly thrifty when it comes to my purchases so I would say somewhere in the region of £12k would cover your costs for the stock. A full csv file can be supplied with the relative detail.

I will of course be looking for a value which is greater than the purchase of the stock only. This will cover the extended period for which the site has been paid for in advance and of course the effort which has been spent on the site.

Any purchaser is in effect buying a business which is set up and ready to use.

Please feel free to ask whatever questions you have, but please bear in mind that a small amount of web development knowledge is advised to further progress the site.

I would advise anyone interested to visit www.shopify.com and do a bit of research on their platform and the range of apps available to integrate with the site.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from a few of you soon.

Jason

Such a shame, you developed a nice site and it would have taken a lot of hard work to get it where it is right now. Hopefully someone with the cashflow can take this on from you now. I find just running an ebay store and working full time almost imposibile. Good luck, BitsaThis

Would it be possible to hire someone to run the site for you while you are sorting things out? The site is generating income, so it should cover a salary. This way you could keep the site and even grow it without having to be personally involved. A year from now you could revisit the idea of selling. Having an online income is a good diversification in this shaky job-market.
