or google is your friend "Lego Show 2012 Manchester"
A great day out for all the family, the show will be packed full of interactive features including workshops with professional brick builders, LEGO® Designers; the Brick marketplace with new and second hand LEGO® products for sale; and amazing displays by LEGO® fans from around the world. With fantastic themed areas the show aims to inspire and motivate, and allow attendees to immerse themselves in the product and build their own constructions."
I'm a bit disappointed they're relocating to London/the South. Though glad to see it's popular.
Perhaps it's just due to the fact that London is an obvious move to further develop the show. I look forward to the official announcement, and any comments from @warrenelsmore on the move down south.
Do we know yet whether AFOLcon will be making a (long-awaited) return?
£7 per child
£50 per family (??)
£35 per person per weekend
£38 per VIP (an hour early)
I wonder if they'll be an AFOLCON included somehow.
Although we're at the Malvern Spring Gardening show on the 8th and 9th. We were going to go on to Wales to see my sister, but...
I'll just give her a ring.
Doesn't sound right - might give the o2 a call.
Tickets are on limited release right now which will be why some of you might have had problems. They should go onto general sale this week.
AFOLCON is back too - the website for that is up at www.afolcon.com. The public facing website (www.thelegoshow.com) will be up soon. There are details of exhibiting etc there as well. If you've got any other questions though, just let me know!
If it happens again next year, I really hope it's the week after (i.e. the 13th - 17th May), otherwise I won't be able to go again! :(
They are now on general sale, so get 'em whilst they're hot!
I was looking forward to this, but I won't be attending this or any future events while you maintain this ridiculous ticketing policy.
Just would have been nice to have these new tickets at a lower price, seeing as your only getting a few hours.
Also, The Lego Show ticketing website says that the session tickets are for a place in the theatre or full tour (or something like that). Am I right in assuming that's just generic wording and at the show we'll be able to wander round freely rather than on a tour? If not, how will the timed sessions be enforced?
Lastly, I like others am a bit disappointed about no family tickets and timed sessions. I've been encouraging my brother and his family to come down but it'll cost them over £100 once train travel to London is factored in :-(
I note @warrenelsmore states they are doing it this way "based on feedback". Really? I'd be surprised if anyone had said they want to do it this way. I appreciate The Lego Show is not a charity and costs have to be met and so on, but I feel this change won't be generally welcomed at all.
Those of you that have all day tickets from the pre-sale - yes, these are still valid, for the whole day. The O2 will be communicating that out shortly. And yes, AFOLCON tickets give you access to all 5 days - everything, every session, all the evening activities etc. That's the ticket aimed at AFOLs, because I know you'll want to spend more than 3 hours in the show! Remember as well that if you display or volunteer for the weekend - that ticket is FREE.
We changed the ticketing because we had a lot of interest in the pre-sale and we also have a lot of people who want to display. There are *many many* rules about what space we can use, vs the number of people in the venue at any one time. Whilst the 02 has 20,000 seats - we obviously can't use that area to display MOCs or have play areas!
From our 2011 and 2012 shows, the majority of visitors only stayed for around 3hrs so moving to sessions means that we can put in as much content and let as many people see it as possible. We dropped family tickets and simplified it to one ticket type for the same reason.
UKTsumi is right - We *really* don't want people to have to buy tickets on re-sale sites if the show sells out, which it would otherwise it had a real chance to do. That doesn't help anyone as the prices for those can be crazy. That, and sadly London is just an expensive place to do anything :-(
Thanks
Stephen
sorry for first post rant but it had to be said
Also why do people now have to pay close to £45 for the all day ticket when others who bought it only a few days earlier pay £17, please tell me how that's fair
Such a shame, the organizers have clearly misjudged this one big time!
