And strangely, as I lie in my hospital bed in country Australia watching a glorious sun rise...US Amazon site seems to be working fine...

  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,479
I just checked my Saved for Later list, and Amazon seems to have lost 3/4 of it. Grrr.

I keep getting dog pictures from Amazon.ca
  • oldtodd33oldtodd33 Member Posts: 2,694
Maybe Walmart got tired of matching Amazon's prices and paid some kid to hack Amazon's site. I'm also guessing  there are going to be a few job openings at Amazon tomorrow.

The site seems to be working for me now.

I half started contemplating buying a dog just to feel like I got a deal on Prime Day.

    **EDIT...never mind, back to dogs.

    Talking about Dog Day Afternoon...

Amazon: “Amazon Prime Day starts today @ 3pm!”

Naive LEGO buyer @ 3:05: “Kiss me, Amazon”

I was looking at that Technic jet at $112. Nice discount but I found cheaper sold prices on eBay so I'm skipping...
  • tomahawkertomahawker Member Posts: 204
Yep, #42066 can be had cheaper on ebay.  Not to mention the Amazon set is only in "frustration-free" packaging at that price.
  • BoomstickBoomstick Member Posts: 247
I think i psyched myself up for a more exciting prime day. Which isn't happening.  Was also hoping to find a good 65" tv. Guess there is still time to hope.
  • PyrobugPyrobug Member Posts: 179
It's "an epic day (and a half)" of deals, right? When is prime day supposed to end anyway? Maybe they'll have some different items on sale tomorrow? I highly doubt it, just wishful thinking. Curious how the UK got some decent deals and it was such a bust for the US.

Took a page from [email protected]?

I am a bit glad that the deals have been light as I have spent a ton of money on LEGO lately. I did pickup a Fire stick for half off, and a couple of LEGO sets at 20% off that I have been eyeing, but that has been it.
  • MAGNINOMINISUMBRAMAGNINOMINISUMBRA Member Posts: 993
My first Prime day and all I managed was a 50odd percent off BB8.  There were a few reasonable deals on smaller Ninjago sets on Amazon au but I missed those.  Some trial and error leads me to believe that the 'dog pictures' appear when a set has reached 100 limit on its allocated sales (and the item is no longer available for internal restocking).
While mildly disappointed, it's probably for the best...

I purchased 2 Amazon Cloud cams so I can keep an eye on all the Lego I didn't purchase on Prime Day.

I had about 80 items (all) totally disappear from my cart, really hope I don't have to rebuild that list!

Same here. At least I only had about two dozen items originally, but suddenly it was down to six. I’ve rebuilt some of it, but I probably spent at least an hour doing it.

While there wasn't any good Lego deals (at least ones I was interested in) they did have some wonderful sales on their movies.  I ended up getting the Harry Potter Hogwarts collection and a few Star Trek complete collections for a fraction of what they normally go for

LEGO DC Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout DVD w/ Nightwing figure is only 6.99 now (53% off)

  • jmeninnojmeninno Member Posts: 1,175
^I could be wrong, but I believe the "all time low" for this was $5.00.  I didn't check camel-trice, but when I searched for it, Amazon told me I had already bought it once, at a (surprising) price of $5.00.  Still, a great bargain for one of the best Nightwing figures out there!

I've seen the DVD with minifig packs at Walmarts for $5 every so often. Usually Cosmic Lad, Batzarro, or Nightwing.
  • KeilupKeilup Member Posts: 235
^This.  A Batzarro showed up in a WM clearance aisle last week that I picked up.

    As an investment, not sure.

As part of a complete collection, yes it's worth it.

Yeah, I have been wondering that as well. With the spanse sales at Amazon, and TRU being gone, Im guessing many stores will be fighting for our dollars. Walmart reportedly is going to buy something like 30% more toys for Christmas. Also makes me wonder as to what the clearance deals will be as well.

What will be of more interest is how LEGO will react to the loss of TRU. Will they compete with WM, etc and up the ante on their offers and promos for this upcoming holiday season?

Id prefer actual good sale prices vs more promos where I have to buy x dollars in regular priced sets for a promo. Just holding out hope that Amazon goes nuts this coming BF week like they did two years ago.

In many ways I agree with you. The 25%+ discounts at Amazon are so much better than 2x VIP points.

But if you get the right promo and flip it, it can turn out to be a significant discount if you factor in the 2x points.

I think they are price matching Walmart, careful though, as Amazon is offering 'frustration free' packaging, which leads me to be believe it will be a plastic bag.

  • dehnehsudehnehsu Member Posts: 206
Around Christmas time last year I opted for the Frustration Free packing option for the Saturn V. Amazon had a free option for further boxing for the holidays to avoid spoilers for presents. I ended up with a double layer of protection during shipping so I got a clean undamaged Saturn V LEGO box.

A side note, The newer boxes of the Saturn V (21309) have a removable cardboard divider inside the box to help keep the bagged parts from shifting around.

Much better than what Amazon shipped my Ewok Village when they had posted it on sale, which look more like a garbage bag. It is much better, aside from the fact it advertises to the world that it is a LEGO toy set when it is sitting on your porch
