I ordered the PS4 Uncharted bundle and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 Remix for the PS4. However, when I finally placed the order, the Uncharted bundle was no longer appearing when you searched for it, so I'm worried that that part of the order may get canceled. Wasn't a great deal at $279 for basically the PS4, Uncharted, Kingdom Hearts, and The Last of Us, but I'm not certain a truly better deal would have come along.
I saw a number of sets that said PRIME DAY Deal, and at the search results level, there was a notation that the set was subject to two prime 10% off deals, but the price was RRP. I added the set to the cart, and when I looked at the cart, the price was still RRP. When were the two 10% off discounts supposed to appear? The only button I saw left was "Place Order" and I didn't want to do that unless I knew I was getting the discounts.
This year's prime day sale had me really confused.
Congrats to the people who scored big though!
$89 assault on hoth
they all shipped today!
The timers expire at midnight Pacific time, so 3 AM Eastern
I'm still a little in shock it went through.
First order is due to arrive today. I hope it's not just a large, mostly empty box with a note in it from Jeff Bezos that reads, "Don't f*** with me."
It looks like #60134 Fun in the Park is down to $23.99. I might finally decide to buy it at that price.
What am I supposed to do, spend all day adding everything I think might possibly be on sale to my cart over and over every few hours in case it happens to change price? What a bunch of nonsense.
But it does sting a bit that they weren't cancelled and were that cheap.
However, congrats to those who benefitted from it!
I never thought that turning on email notifications from the amazon prime day brickpicker thread would pay off but hey, guess being spammed with 100+ emails was worth it. Also if I may put a recommendation out there, for anyone who has not yet done it, putting email notifications on for threads like these can be a help with alert deals, certainly has helped me out a few times (even though when things get off topic your inbox may get annoying).
Right after I saw the first deal (which was by chance), came here and posted it in hopes anyone else would be able to scoop any of the set up. Tried to give a chance to anyone who might be able to get some good deals for themselves.
I'm happy for the people who got amazing deals (and jealous) but the whole thing sucks for most of us. I don't have the energy for the hustle. It's fishing season...
When my wife saw the boxes arrive, there was a little bit of a freak-out moment on her face because she has learned how much these "big ones" cost, but after explaining the discounts and that I could basically sell the Helicarrier to someone for 20% RRP and its profit would completely pay for the HQ and MF, she ended up being okay.
Pushing up a fix could cause more unintended issues as well, something they probably did not want to do during one of their biggest sale days of the year.
The Lego glitch was not the only one I noticed. The PS4 Uncharted bundle would rarely come up in the search, and only a few times did it display the $229 price I got it for. I was a little annoyed to purchase Kingdom Hearts I.5 ReMix HD and II.5 ReMix HD at $34.40 (still a good price considering the content) listed as Prime Day deal only to see at that price point for everyone the next day.
Unfortunately, stuff like this happens. Computer code is written by humans, and as the saying goes "to error is human".
Regarding not canceling the orders, it seems to me like they probably didn't want to deal with the number of people that would inevitably complain about their orders being canceled. Better to just take the loss and move on.
All these lightning deals / prime deals have quantity limits on them which eventually roll up to to a discount "pool" or "allowance" or "budget". My hunch is that they killed the promo once they either hit the pool or some metrics showed a vastly accelerated burn rate on the promos and they killed it.
As others have said, instead of 3,000 people saving $100 each, we probably saw 300 people save a $1k each!
The correct (sold by Amazon) ASIN is B072HX96BM.
(Also, WalMart is currently showing the same price.)
*This set was only officially released in the States on August 1st, but has been available in Europe since last December.
I will risk it and wait until the LEGO sales for tomorrow are announce for the possibility of also getting double points... I know: greedy ;-)
