Walmart did the same to me with the second (and last) Pet Shop I ordered. Really annoying.
It's been that way for me for the past few years now.
LEGO® DC Comics Super Heroes The Awesome Guide (with Wonder Woman) is only $10.66
It's not just Amazon though. I can't remember the last thing I had shipped to me from anywhere that had adequate packaging material. I've come to simply expect a smashed corner or two.
That's weird, I wonder if it's specific shipping locations where that happens? I live in Utah, and most of my Lego shipments come from Las Vegas, I've never had any boxes show up dinged, though I've had a couple emails from Amazon asking me specifically how the packaging was for my Lego items, I've always wondered why that was.
Also, it looks like #70916 Batwing ($89.99) and #70917 Ultimate Batmobile ($139.99) are both available from Amazon, although the Batmobile is $10 over RRP...
Target, Walmart, TRU, and even Barnes and Noble still have them out in fairly copious quantities.
A Target/Amazon 30% will do it for me.
Thank you for the heads up.
If it's coming direct from Lego, it ships from Mississippi to get to me. I ordered the Snowspeeder for the double VIP points and it unfortunately got here with a slightly smashed corner. My last order was of some smaller stuff, and the items were basically free to slide around the box.
As for Amazon, there's really not much consistency there. When I ordered the UCS TIE Fighter it came from a shipping company I had never heard of, not sure if they did the packing or not but the box was pretty banged up. Although the Pokemon Sun and Moon Collector's Guide was adequately packaged which I think is the last thing I received from Amazon (that wasn't a box full of K-Cups for my fiance). Prior to that, the actual Sun and Moon games were simply stuffed in a padded envelope with no other packing material, but thankfully they weren't damaged either. A whole bunch of items I ordered before and after the TIE Fighter though came in fairly weak packaging where stuff was free to just tumble around the box.
