I don't see the LR mine on sale
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
Target has a couple wacky "regular" prices for the sets, like the train being $89.99 for their regular price when msrp is $99.99. Anyway, the mine is msrp of $69.99, so yeah, the $47.99 is a sale.

8 per order limit, but no limit on orders.

Since I do not have the redcard, shipping and tax kill it for me. Oh well.

^ X-wings for $36.00 would have been a nice deal (with the additonal 5% Red Card discount)!

It looks like that's only on select sets, though. Certain themes are excluded.

Thanks for mentioning X-Wing. I missed it on my first scan. Although it is sold out online, I was able to pick up two from local store.

#70009 is 48.5% off and stacks with BOGO30, so if you buy two, it is 58.5% off (after 5% red card discount)

That's too good of a deal to pass up. Only interested in the set for parts, and I will happily take almost 1300 parts for about $60 any day of the week.
  • RonyarRonyar Member Posts: 373
worked out to $62.04 including tax, after Redcard discount for me. I couldn't pass that up either. Thanks for the heads up @ColoradoBricks!

$123.21 for 4. not a bad deal for parts. 4.8 cents a part.
  • busumoe1busumoe1 Member Posts: 194
Thanks @ColoradoBricks. I didn't bite when the price was higher earlier in the week. Then Amazon lower its price and then Target.com matched. I'd not have checked again until I read it here.

Also, after I've learned from this forum that Target online will apply 5% discount, even if one uses gift cards, I've been buying discounted e-giftcards online before purchasing. Combine that with cashback site, I got another small discount on top of an already good deal. Thanks!

I like to use the following site for gift cards comparison:
    http://www.giftcardgranny.com/store/target/

Several vendor offers e-gc, but picked giftcardzen, since I've used them before. I always order less than what I need so that I'd use up all the e-gc right away. So combining 5% from Upromise and 4.4% from giftcardzen, I saved another 9% on top of the 5% RedCard.

Also, for those who are mining cryptocoins or don't know what to do with your thousands of altcoins (^_^), giftcardzen also takes BTC. I've only started mining (I know I know, but it's a fun project regardless), so I do not have enough BTCs to buy anything yet. I really don't want to deal with bank or wire transfers (plus the crazy fees and headaches), so BTCs to gift cards is a very attractive option.

^hmmm... actually, I guess it'd be 10% combined savings since I used a credit card to buy the e-gc, since actually using the RedCard itself would have forfeit the usual 1% from cc.

    Clearance. Red stickered.

@busumoe1 How are you saving 5% with red card, plus 4.4% with a discounted gift card? Isn't the gift card balance deducted from the purchase total first, leaving very little to be discounted with the red card?
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
@nkx1, online (unlike the stores) the 5$ if of the order total, not just the balance after GC. I personally used a $20 GC+Red card on mine (plastic gift card) and still got 5% off everything.

In stores, they do not stack. Online, they do... Strange, but that is how it works...

    Thanks for the replies.

So if I understand correctly: On a $100 online purchase, I will get the item for $95, even if I pay $94 with a gift card and $1 with the red card?

If so, that's awesome. I will have to keep that in mind.

On a side note, I noticed TRU gift cards are discounted 11% or more on some of the gift card sites. I can't believe I've been missing out on these discounts for so long! I guess the only caveat is that if you return an item, you'll only get a store credit instead of a refund.

$58.12 all in. good deal for parts
  • busumoe1busumoe1 Member Posts: 194
@nkx1: Yes, that's how it works. Thanks again to those who had mentioned here on the forum.

FYI, since ColoradoBricks mentioned about the price dropped for #70009: Worriz's Combat Lair, I've noticed a pattern here.

#75002: AT-RT was $15.99 at Target.com when BOGO30%OFF started on Sunday. Then on Monday Amazon dropped the price to $13.59. I checked the same day and Target did not match the price, I was curious and checked today... BAM! $13.59 at Target.com now. Amazon no longer carry that set at $13.59.

Another example: #6785: Duplo Creative Cakes was $15.72 on Monday at Amazon and now it's matched at Target.com. (You can still pick up in store). Again, Amazon does not have it at $15.72 anymore.

#60008: Police Museum Break-in did not quite match the pattern. It was $45.04 at Amzn a few days ago, but it's $45.99 at Target right now.

In any case, the deals site just mentioned #60017, #60025, and #60007 discounted at Amazon. All three are not yet matched at Target, but I'd be curious if those prices will show up tomorrow or Saturday...

Oh, BOGO30%OFF mean 2x #75002: AT-RT is about $11 each with RedCard. If you do Cashback and discounted e-giftcard, then it's about 50% off.

Anyone who grabbed the #70009 Combat Lair just for parts, I would be interested in buying some of the minifigs if you do not want them. In particular, LOC015 Wilhurt. My son is enamored with the black wolf but I can't justify buying the entire truck just for that.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ I'll definitely be selling the minifigs. shoot me a PM with whichever ones you want. I bought two copies
  • galahad2309galahad2309 Member Posts: 33
Thanks for the tip on 70009. Bought 2. One for my son to add to his chima collection, and one for parts.

#79111 Lone Ranger Constitution Chase in marked down to $83.99 at target.com. Not the greatest discount, but the best out there for an increasingly difficult set to find at retail.

If it wasn't for charging sales tax on eBay, I would of bought a couple of #79111.
  • jediami65jediami65 Member Posts: 474
Also wasn't the regular price $99.99 US so this is actually a 26% discount not 38% as stated. And I agree on the tax.. it hurts.

I would buy a couple more, but just cannot bring myself to do it. I already have a few and the risk outweigh the reward IMO for this one.
Good if you did not get one already though, or wanted to add to another one.

Same goes for the Forest police station
