Railroad Passenger Cars?

Hi: I have recently purchased and built (with lots of assistance from my Grandson) the Lego Cargo Train set...Really nice set and fun to use...Got a question: I would like to add a couple of passenger cars to my train set without buying another entire set...Are there plans available, with parts lists, for passenger cars that would work with my set? I do not have much of a collection of spare blocks and other parts, so I would have to order them individually..Any help and advice would be welcome..Thank you very much...

You can dowload official LEGO instructions right here on brickset, and use those to build passenger cars. Find a model you like, then click the instructions link:
    http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Trains

The #10194 Emerald Night from a few years ago has a great passenger compartment. You can easily change the color pattern too.

Other recent examples include the #10173, #7938, #4841, and of course the #10233

The parts lists on the instructions of course will be for the whole set, so you would have to manually modify the list to get only those parts needed for the car(s) you want to build.

Hi Steve and Kevin! Welcome to Brickset!

You'll be able to find single cars or carriages for most train sets on either ebay or Bricklink. They can be found still new and in sealed bags with the separate instructions/stickers. An example is like this:

Will all of the cars be compatible with the tracks used in the Cargo Train set? Thanks for the assistance!

Yes they will all be compatible. The part that is not compatible throughout systems is usually just the motor and power source. There you have the current Power Function (IR/Batteries), the previous 9V system (AC/DC current, metal track) and the older 12V system.

A few months ago, I created the part list for the Passenger cart of the #10194 and posted on Rebrickable.
I have created the list with the train base part 92339 92339 while sometimes 4093a is used. I am not sure of the difference between those two.

If you create a part list for another car, please uploaded it on rebrickable :)

I'm currently running Power Functions on 9V track, so you should be good with any track for your Cargo Train. I'm wondering though; why do you want to add passenger cars to a cargo train?

I guess we just want a little variety in the type of cars available, and my grandson has his eyes on the Train Station...So I suppose we need at least a couple of passenger cars so we can leave the freight cars on a siding...

Am I right in thinking the train station is expected to be gone soon, mithat be best to get it sooner rather than later if it is. Others will know better than me though.

New station is coming this summer according to rumors. Along with new Cargo and Passenger trains. Might be worth waiting for
