Monthly build competition : August 2023

Welcome, one and all, to the August building competition.

Once again, you are challenged to dive into your box of bits, your biscuit tin of bricks or your meticulously organised drawers of parts and create a MOC for the gratification and wonderment of the Brickset family.

This month, rather than choose a specific theme, I cast down the gauntlet as follows...

Pick a song - any song - and either take the whole lyric or just a phrase or a few lines from it, and build a MOC that somehow relates to the words you've chosen.  

When you have finished creating, please post a picture, or pictures, of your creation and also post the artist / title of the song and the relevant lines, in this thread.

The Rules!

1. An original creation, please, not something you've built before.
2. Brick built creations or digital renders are both acceptable.
3. Any Lego creation - a model, a mosaic or any other variation you can come up with, is fine.
4. Multiple entries from one builder is ok.
5. Entries must be posted by midnight (B.S.T) on August 31st, 2023.

The winner will be selected by a method that I haven't decided on yet.  Might be my favourite, might be 'most likes', might be something else.  I shall make an announcement as soon as I've decided.  The winner will be announced as soon as practical after Aug 31st, and will receive a small Lego-related prize.

The lack of interaction makes me think I may have picked a duff theme.

Would people prefer a different theme, or shall we let the Monthly Build comp just fade away gracefully?

I can’t speak for anyone else, but here’s my nickel’s worth.

As fun as it sounds, with several current timesucks in the real world, I don’t have the capacity to create a worthy entry for this month’s competition. Possibly next month though.

I am in the same boat, a small child is not helpful when trying to build anything at the moment. But will pick it up when I can

Sorry @BooTheMightyHamster I'm in the middle of a move and my bricks are in the deepest part of the storage unit since the beginning of July. I'm hoping to participate this month IF we are able to get our stuff out of storage in time.

Let's get this party started. I just built this today for one of my LUG's upcoming collaborative displays. It's not quite done yet, but it's my gingerbread train station. I didn't have a specific song in mind because I just remembered this contest, but if I had to pick one let's say Gingerbread Man by Dirty Honkers

I'm not sure this is done, as I'm still pondering it, but I'll throw up my progress. This is a scene base on Psalm 1:3 "He shall be like a tree
Planted by the [c]rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper." I'm not rendering this yet, because I'm still pondering this.  I want to do little Biblical scenes like this for the entire book of the Psalms, but right now, I'm not really building physically, because I'm waiting for parts, so rather than pull out more, I'm organizing, right now. And my desktop for rendering goes unused because a heatwave is forecasted Also, David, Israel's king, after God's own heart wrote it, to my knowledge. The Psalms were to be set to music.

Apparently, I heard David thought it should be set to drum n bass.

These were great and I finally came up with a song to try - Rock Lobster.  Unfortunately, I didn’t end up with time to make it.

Thank you all for the entries.  Special mention goes to @GothamConstructionCo for picking a great song by one of my favourite bands, but I'm going to award the prize, this month, to @560Heliport, for a simple, effective diorama that made me laugh out loud!

If no one else has already volunteered, I’m happy to run the mid September to mid October and possibly the last building competition.

I have spoken to @560Heliport, and he has been most kind and suggested that rather than ship a small set over to the USA, I should make a donation to Fairy Bricks instead, which I will do today.
